With Miley gone, never to be heard of for the next 15 years until she turns up with a new head, at least Emily won't have to babysit her every day and night for the foreseeable future.

New thread where we can hope the scriptwriters wake up and actually start paying attention to plot lines and character histories.

I'm starting to feel sorry for Helen Worth and all the dire stories she's been given over the past year or so - since her character fell for the man who tried to burgle the house she lived in Hmm. The fight last night was ridiculous and I hated seeing her beg Michael to take her back.

I loved it when Carla gave Kirk's poker money back to him. The street won't be the same when she leaves.

sweetgrape · 30/06/2015 07:41

More to the point, why didn't she eat the cake. Just because it broke up on the plate. It was obviously done to give her more of a wild look. Stupid more like.

+1 to all of this. I cringed at the sight of her flinging stuff in the hair salon, and Eileen with a basket on her head. Nonsense. Who in their right minds would get involved with that drip Michael, never mind marry him. Gail has been made into a pantomime character. What a pity.

AgathaChristie01 · 30/06/2015 09:15

Totally agree also re Carla. She makes any scene she is in, worth watching.

SymphonyofShadows · 30/06/2015 10:22

'Come on Eileen' and the bits with Carla were the only things worth watching. Isn't Liz's new BF about Steve's age?

PooSweats84 · 30/06/2015 11:24

The man in charge of Corrie is the man who we in charge of Emmerdale when that went down the pan and I stopped watching, now he's left to ruin Corrie, apparently Emmerdale is on the up again! I can't believe none of the long standing characters have read their scripts and gone, hang on a minute mate....!

Ladytron · 30/06/2015 12:27

And when Tulisa said she was gay, my heart sank thinking she would become a convenient new girlfriend for Sawphie, but hopefully she's gone for good!

SymphonyofShadows · 30/06/2015 12:31

It would have been good if she had a crush on Julie. That would have wiped the silly smirk off Dev's face.

Jo4040 · 30/06/2015 13:21

Are you kidding...he would have bloody loved that!

SymphonyofShadows · 30/06/2015 16:22

Not if it didn't include him Grin

theliverpoolone · 30/06/2015 18:10

For weeks Dev was some one Tulisa confided in during her marriage breakup - how unlikely is it that she would have failed to mention that it was because she was gay, if Dev was such a rock of support....Hmm. Ridiculous.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 30/06/2015 19:04

Emmerdale is superb at the moment . Corrie is a pantomime.

ProfYaffle · 30/06/2015 19:27

I thought that too liverpool

MrsUltracrepidarian · 30/06/2015 20:14

Just fast forwarded thru the two Monday episodes - then you ITV player for saving me form wasting an hour of my life Grin
Really - this is the best they can do - prime time with all the capital the Corrie has from the years it has been going... pathetic.
have watched off and on for 40 (eeek!) years. At least is the summer, so other stuff to do - will regroup in September (having checked this thread first Grin) to see if I can be bothered.

MrsUltracrepidarian · 30/06/2015 20:16

Thank you ITV player Blush

AgathaChristie01 · 30/06/2015 22:43

Looks like Deirdre's funeral is being turned into yet another Tracy story Sad

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 30/06/2015 22:54

Thanks Anne.

Yes to Carla being great, but she's yet another character who's had a personality transplant over the years, where's the hard-faced woman who went all out to steal Liam off Maria and Peter off Leanne? I like her better now though.

Both Eileen and Gail have been reduced to pantomime characters, which is sad, Gail has been a stalwart of the show for so long and Eileen had such potential which we only see fleeting glimpses of now.

I really can't go back to Emmerdale, it's been 10 years since I watched regularly and last time I turned over Charlie Stubbs was in it. And Kim Tate is in Corrie . Maybe I should give it a try.

AnguaResurgam · 30/06/2015 23:01

Rita's character has already been ruined, and Emily has all but vanished. It's a pity, as having effective older characters, especially female ones, was a strength for so long

Sinead appears to have vanished too. But I don't mind that, as they've never allowed her to develop in a way that the audience would ever really care about what happened to her.

I did read somewhere that lots of characters would be coming back for Deirdre's funeral (so it had better bloody not be all about Tracey for the actual send off). As she's been staying with Bev, presumably she'll have to be one of them. But who else? I'd love to see Spider again, and it's about time Toyah and Leanne caught up with each other.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 30/06/2015 23:19

Ahhh I loved Spider!

Mavis could come back. Martin Platt. Some of Steves old flames (Who was the barmaid with the brown curly hair? I loved her when I was growing up!)

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 30/06/2015 23:28

Peter? Bet Lynch?

AnneEyhtMeyer · 30/06/2015 23:44

Peter is definitely coming back for the funeral, Who.

SymphonyofShadows · 01/07/2015 07:12

For some reason I was convinced that Julie Goodyear had died. Just googled and checked, not sure why I thought that. Bet coming back for an appearance would be great, eh chuck?

AnguaResurgam · 01/07/2015 07:17

If Corrie had a competent writing team, Mavis meeting Norris (and Mary) would be my idea of a heavenly scene.

But with this lot? Hope it hasn't even occurred to them.

SymphonyofShadows · 01/07/2015 09:14

Mavis knows Norris doesn't she? Both Norris and Derek were married to Angela IIRC

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 01/07/2015 09:38

Bet came back a few years ago didn't she? She seemed totally out of place as things have changed so much. It was a bit sad.
