Corrie Thread - Bet Emily is relieved there is one less child for her 24 hour creche

With Miley gone, never to be heard of for the next 15 years until she turns up with a new head, at least Emily won't have to babysit her every day and night for the foreseeable future.

New thread where we can hope the scriptwriters wake up and actually start paying attention to plot lines and character histories.

OP posts:
AgathaChristie01 · 16/08/2015 09:56

Re Dev, I think the scriptwriters (ahem) can't think of any story to include him just now.
Maybe there are cutbacks so most of the scenes are based in the Rovers, the Platt house, Ken's house, the Bistro, and occasional glimpses elsewhere. Grin

JiltedJohnsJulie · 16/08/2015 10:37

I think it may be time for the producer, Stuart Robinson, to leave. He seems to show a complete lack of empathy with the audience and seems to have absolutely no long term plan when it comes to character development or plots. He seems to be willing to change the character's, usually much loved, traits on a whim, I suspect on the latest crazy read desperate suggestion of the sixth formers script writers.

Also, agree totally on the lack of grief from the Barlows.

And didn't know it was Steve's own dog. That explains why they get on so well on screen Smile

Sparklingbrook · 16/08/2015 10:45

Most of the 'storylines' are so uninteresting. I used to watch Doctors and on that thread we used to say we had FTC when watching some episodes. (Failure to care)
Corrie is like that the whole time.

PunkrockerGirl · 16/08/2015 10:58

Yes the lack of grief from the Barlows is mind-boggling.

Does anyone know if there are any plans to bring Peter Barlow back? I quite fancy him

JiltedJohnsJulie · 16/08/2015 11:03

Yes, I've definetly have FTC over the Simon and Leanne story and Tracey Barlow and her new/ex man.

Don't know if they are bringing Peter Barkiw back, but think you may have to form an orderly queue, my DF fancies him as well.

I'm gutted that Craig Charles is leaving for the same reason. I've had a soft spot on him for years and Steve and Lloyd are Corrie gold. Not so gutted over Andrea hopeful that she is leaving and it's just not wishful thinking.

Still don't know where poor Nick has gone...

Sparklingbrook · 16/08/2015 11:07

Storylines I am interested in are as follows........

Sparklingbrook · 16/08/2015 11:07

Um

Ooh ooh Paddy McGuiness and the camping might be sort of reasonably entertaining. Possibly maybe.

SymphonyofShadows · 16/08/2015 11:14

I can't see all the posts on my phone but has anyone mentioned what a rubbish job they are doing of covering 'Maria's' bump with her big bag?

southeastdweller · 16/08/2015 11:15

I agree bringing back Peter would be great. Chris Gascoyne is an excellent actor and like a few others of the cast (emphasis on the few), he makes all scenes he's in watchable.

DocHollywood · 16/08/2015 11:18

Bloody hate Peter. But I suppose Steve will need a friend when Lloyd goes so I suppose he'll be back. Sharing a room with Ken?Grin

Ooh yes, forgot about the camping! Should be fun.

eddiemairswife · 16/08/2015 11:29

They've completely given up the pretence of Maria not being pregnant in real life.

AgathaChristie01 · 16/08/2015 11:36

Oh I'm going to use FTC, I love it! Grin

AnguaResurgam · 16/08/2015 11:53

I hope that Andrea is completely killed off for her exit. But that Lloyd isn't, so maybe he can come back when the actor has finished Red Dwarfing.

southeastdweller · 16/08/2015 11:58

I agree the current boss should leave. There's been only two things he's done in the 2.5 years he's been in charge of the show that I liked - reintroducing Liz and the handling of Hayley's exit story. He's responsible for the creation of Callum, Sinead, the Nazir's, Maddie, Michael, bringing back Bethany and Sarah and the daft Tina and Peter story, as well as the Michael and Gavin/Andy one. The death of Deirdre story could also have been better handled.

Interesting that since he left Emmerdale, that show has thrived.

AgathaChristie01 · 16/08/2015 12:26

Completely agree southeast.
Also think that what made Hayley's exit so good was the quality of the acting from the key players, Julie Hesmondhalgh and David Nielsen.

Looking at the list of what he has brought in, as characters, if they all disappeared, in a cobble-related incident, e.g a hole in the street that they all fell into, I wouldn't even notice, or care.

The Tina/Peter story made absolutely no sense, and destroyed two characters, in the process, IMO. The Gandy story was ridiculous and the writers didn't seem to know how to end it.

Something I hated in the Deirdre death storyline was interspersing scenes with Callum and co. Ugh. It was badly handled overall, and in no way a respectful tribute to an actress who played such a great part, for so many years, until her untimely death.

DocHollywood · 16/08/2015 12:28

It's only our favourites, Sally and Tim and Beth and Kirky, that retain any of the traditional Corrie humour and likeability.

Wishful80smontage · 16/08/2015 13:17

Completely agree stuart blackburn needs to go I'm surprised the decline has gone on this long. Maybe once the live shoes are over there'll be some big changes? Saying that ratings aren't down so maybe not quite yet

JiltedJohnsJulie · 16/08/2015 14:50

Grin at sparkling. Don't think I've come up with any either.

Really hope too that they kill off Andrea but that Lloyd will be back, he's one of my favourites. Those short films Steve and Lloyd did were great.

Also agree that if all of the newbies fell into a big hole I wouldn't be bothered either. Maybe that's what they are planning for the life episodes, followed by the gracious leaving of the producer .

Sparklingbrook · 16/08/2015 15:03

The minibus crash was such a wasted opportunity.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 16/08/2015 15:34

Wasn't it just Sparkling.

Sparklingbrook · 16/08/2015 15:36

I could fill that minibus now and stick some on the roof too.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 16/08/2015 18:43

That sinkhole that opened on Mancunian Way would have been better placed on Coronation St. I'd have happily pushed a load of them in.

I could fill that minibus and a trailer full and still have some more spare.
