OK, after freaking the bejaysus out of me with the weird trailer / advert I am intrigued and looking forward to giving this programme a viewing.

(I will have to record and watch later as I will be watching Messrs Strange and Norrell.)

Anyone else looking forward to it and hoping it lives up to the hype?

Think I'd prefer the woods.

038THETA · 19/06/2015 19:37

Perhaps a time will come in the not too instant future when robots will want equal rights
in order to want things they need to be sentient, with an inner life, of course they are portrayed in this way in sci fi but really we have no reason to think that we could create a machine which would have a mind, because we have absolutely no idea what consciousness is or how our own brains create it

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/06/2015 22:11

Finally watched and enjoyed

Amazing how wife was only away for 5 days and while house has a meltdown and hubby gets a robot

Wonder what happened to Anita 5 weeks ago and how she got renewed

William hurt amazing as always and lovely he was so attached to his young robot - tho prob mainly as memories of his dead wife

Anita didn't seem bothered that wife was burnt - tho she did offer first aid

Noticed the 18 control. Assumed hubby took for his needs ............

Leo will hopefully find and rescue the other black robot no 41 - sorry I'm crap with names

Anita def has some kind of fear / memory with water

Wonder if will be a bit like Westworld when all robots turn

MadeMan · 19/06/2015 22:33

"Wonder if will be a bit like Westworld when all robots turn"

Fantastic film. Smile

Marcelinewhyareyousomean · 21/06/2015 11:12

I liked the nod to Isaac Asimov and Phillip K Dick too badbadkitten.

Looking forward to tonight.

EmNetta · 21/06/2015 13:41

I think robots looking like humans will remain just in fiction, due to huge extra cost involved in producing look-alikes. No-one could mistake one of the presently available vaccuum cleaners for a synth, and I doubt anyone would be interested at a commercial price, so I don't forsee any future problems.

MadeMan · 21/06/2015 14:06

"No-one could mistake one of the presently available vaccuum cleaners for a synth"

True, but they did give the Henry range of vacuum cleaners a smiley face. One day that Henry face could be real... Grin

I enjoyed the first episode.

I did not enjoy DH saying "it's the Internet Jen" every time the Mum popped on screen.

Theimpossiblegirl · 21/06/2015 18:35

I have just caught up on the first one and think it's great so far. Looking forward to part 2.

MadeMan · 21/06/2015 20:38

I, Robot is on straight afterwards if anyone here hasn't got it on DVD/BluRay, or seen it before.

JazzAnnNonMouse · 21/06/2015 21:50

Anyone watching tonight?

ginmakesitallok · 21/06/2015 21:53

Loving it, raises all sorts of ethical issues and questions about what makes us human.

mistymeanour · 21/06/2015 21:57

I watched the first one and wondered if it was more of an allegory about all the people (and recent arrivals) who do the jobs we are told "no one wants to do". Do the well off see them as not being the same as them, dehumanise them and not consider that they have feelings and past trauma?

ginmakesitallok · 21/06/2015 22:02

But at the same time does work, however "menial" give us worth?

JazzAnnNonMouse · 21/06/2015 22:02

Dehumanisation certainly happens within the media - you hardly ever hear of '300 humans drowned in the med', it's always '300 immigrants drowned in the med'- as if they're a different species.

girliefriend · 21/06/2015 22:03

Finding it quite scary, agree with Mistys interpretation.

MadeMan · 21/06/2015 22:04

Great programme; enjoyed tonight's one.

Asheth · 21/06/2015 22:04

Really enjoying this. Interesting how most synths are slaves, but the old doctor has ended up as the prisoner of his.

MadeMan · 21/06/2015 22:06

I like the way the old doctor's synth has been made/designed to look like a strict battleaxe. Grin

Quite a few stereotypes in the show so far.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/06/2015 22:08

I cant believe its a whole week to the next one!

Wonder what was going on with the half human half synth hint with Leo.

MadeMan · 21/06/2015 22:12

Perhaps Leo previously died and they augmented him with synth parts to make him alive again?

WhenMarnieWasThere · 21/06/2015 22:18

It's the internet, Jen

Arf. Grin

I'm enjoying it, but finding it S.L.O.W!

Harriet220909 · 21/06/2015 22:41

Loving this! Although kind of weirdly want one to clean my house. Not a creepy one like Anita tho!!

MadeMan · 21/06/2015 23:02

I'd only want one to clean my house if it as it tidied up.

038THETA · 21/06/2015 23:14

I'd have fantasy animal themed robots, it would be much more fun, why stick to the human form if you had the technology to make things as sophisticated as that.
Some sort of octopus would work well in the kitchen surely?
