I was trying to get back into RL this morning as it's been a real anti climax getting home. Been able to forget about impending problems at work this weekend and the CJ fantasies have helped greatly so it's down to earth with a bump.

Just immersed myself in the latest upload from Twochicks - such a sweet story. Need to do a supermarket run soon as well.

Jen can vouch for the crowds of women hankering after CJ in Edinburgh. The kilt was an added attraction. They lusted after him just as much in his combats though. I should have charged for each photo!

Ilovelblue · 10/05/2015 09:47

PS did we expect anything less of RLC?

orphan · 10/05/2015 10:02

Ooh yes I remember every single detail that ff jen. Grin

That green dress Keira Knightly wore in the library scene was gorgeous though I have to admit being distracted by McAvoy. I like her as an actress but she does tend to do that chin jutting thing. She used to go out with my very good friend, Rupert. At times they looked unnervingly similar!

Onlygirljen · 10/05/2015 10:02

Really feel awful, have forced myself to get up and make a cuppa. DH has taken pity and gone to pick me up some breakfast. I knew I kept him around for a reason.

I have the same Kiera Knightley issue rhubarb, there's just something I can't warm to. She was completely miscast in p&p

Onlygirljen · 10/05/2015 10:07

orphan I think I'll have to go back and re-read it, just to make sure that we maintained consistency with the details in the fic. Wouldn't like to think we missed anything out.

orphan · 10/05/2015 10:28

jen we have an awful lot of books at home - am considering speed dialing Rupert (Mathias is no doubt tied up literally with woof) to see if he fancies a reenactment.

Poor you though. Am glad Mr Jen is proving useful. Hope RLC emerges eventually. Funny that he lived up (or down according to view) to my expectations regarding bridesmaids!

Rhubarb01 · 10/05/2015 10:30

My family know that I always refer to Keira Knightley as 'Grinny Chinny'. Yes I know that's awful. As you've said, it's just a mannerism really, not anything to to with her acting. I'm sure lots of people love it - it's just me. I bet they could find a whole host of annoying things I do. That's life.

mummyreeds · 10/05/2015 10:38

Hi Rhu, sorry but apart from having the Wattpad app I know nothing. The girl who got her book published is called Anna Todd and her books are in a series called 'After'. Can't actually believe she did so well as her male characters are all named after 1D band members and seems a bit childish but maybe that is what attracted her audience!! Like I said your writing (and lots of our other ff writers) are so much better. I would buy a whole book about CJ and Molly for sure!!

Rhubarb01 · 10/05/2015 10:56

It's kind of you to say so mummy. I would honestly like to try something outside of fanfiction and wondered if it might be a place to start. The article I read about wattpad however, suggested that the site is aimed at a younger audience - probably in their twenties and that the main genres are sci-fi and fantasy and probably something involving vampires. It did sound like hard work if you are an author trying to get your work out there suggesting that you reply to every comment and join community discussion groups and get other people to crtique your work etc. It looks like its a bit of a self-publicising tool. I suppose people do still hawk a dog-eared manuscript around to various publishers and hope someone will pick it up and do all the work for them in that respect. Mind you, its good to have other options like self-publishing but I do find that when I download onto my Kindle stories can vary a lot in quality and it's often better to download something that has been picked up by a bona fide publisher in the first place but get it at a cheaper price. You can see how book editors earn their money!

Rhubarb01 · 10/05/2015 11:16

I looked up Anna Todd out of interest. Apparently, she got over 1 million readers on Wattpad which must have prompted a publisher to pick up her books. It's sort of fanfic based on One Direction which must account for the very high readership worldwide. Definitely a bit of a young person's thing. It's a money spinner that's for sure.

icemistOBE · 10/05/2015 11:42

rhubarb fan fiction has a sister site called fictionpress which is for original work. lolagirl has posted her latest work on there (jakes secret). I find watt pad better for teens/young adults

And do not read spo's latest chapter with a drink.... I'm off to change my top Grin

On the subject of writing if woof and orphan happen to be free next Wednesday morning and able to get to the BBC Media Centre in Salford there is a free writer's room session entitled 'How to get a comedy script commissioned'. Given your talents I think it would be well worth your time!

pixieg1rl · 10/05/2015 13:02

Rhubarb someone I've known for years via social media has self published 2 books and she sells them as e books and also via a website that will print books to order. You can look her up on Amazon she's called Pip Mulgrue.

She started out on ff, Sherlock stories I think. She has friends and other writers edit her stuff

mummyreeds · 10/05/2015 13:19

Wattpad for those in their 20's?? What the heck am I doing with it on my tablet?? Well they say you only as young as the man you feel and CJ is still in his twenties!!
I actually can't remember how I came across it!! Idle googling I guess.
Ice has Lolagirl written more of Jakes Secret on fiction press as on ff we still on chapter 12 I think?

icemistOBE · 10/05/2015 13:23

No, same chapters. Just because it's an original story should be there so she's put it in both

Rhubarb01 · 10/05/2015 13:25

Thanks for that Pixie I'll look her up.

icemistOBE · 10/05/2015 15:11

I still check in watt pad as there was some OG stuff on there but I find it not as reader friendly as FFsite

Rhubarb01 · 10/05/2015 16:18

I think I'd only add to TG's tweet - Please give me that penetrating stare...in character, in combats and in person!

Onlygirljen · 10/05/2015 16:20

He is mighty fine in that picture Smile.

Ilovelblue · 10/05/2015 16:45

ice I'm desperately trying to get out of my CJ bubble today so that picture is NOT helping!

My neighbour who feeds my cats (and gave me that vile bird feeder) came to Tesco this morning with me. She asked me what we'd done in Edinburgh and I was on the verge of mentioning the kilt stuff, so real had it become. Anyone able to recommend a good psychiatrist???

Ilovelblue · 10/05/2015 16:52

Jen how's the hangover and did RLC reappear?

icemistOBE · 10/05/2015 16:57

Grin ilove not sorry

OP posts:
orphan · 10/05/2015 17:38

icemist any penetration is welcome if it's CJ.

Out for a meal just dp and me tonight so will try to maintain my focus on him and not let it drift to memories of kilt fitting...

Rhubarb01 · 10/05/2015 17:42

Thinking about the TG tweets on Sunday evenings and OG's popularity rising in Australia - just wait until the end of next week's episode, that'll be the test - have any of the other FF writers noticed an increase in readers from Australia? I certainly have over the last month they're now a sizeable second to the UK readers. I suppose that's our own little gauge of how well it's going over there.
