Enjoy today jen. Looking forward to hearing more of RLC. (Hoping he'll do something outrageous with a bridesmaid!!) As for CJ, its worth checking and rechecking on a regular basis that he is wearing the kilt in the traditional way - he had expressed some concerns yesterday. Think it may have been the industrial blower that shook his confidence and his strictly non doughy balls

orphan · 09/05/2015 09:33

richtea have a great day. The V&A is my favourite museum and I love the café food as well. I pile my plate with the yummy salads then feel slightly virtuous when I go back later for cake!

orphan · 09/05/2015 10:21

rhubarb love your latest of course! Somehow I think the talk Charles has in mind won't go to plan and there could be an interesting few days ahead. Also wondering exactly what Matt's agenda is.

KeziaOAP · 09/05/2015 10:27

Lovely update rhubarb despite the angst, never straightforward relationship with these two. If this was a book wouldn't be able to put it down.

KeziaOAP · 09/05/2015 10:31

jen have a lovely day. I went to a family wedding in Edinburgh a few years ago it was magical such a beautiful city.

Ilovelblue · 09/05/2015 11:54

CJ all ready for you Jen. He nearly threw a tantrum earlier when we were in the Pringle exhibition at the Museum of Scotland. There was a 1920s all in one cashmere undies set he wanted me to try on and tried his 'I'm your superior officer' approach but I threatened to dislodge his sporran permanently and he relented. We're now surrounded by Americans and Japanese all wanting his photo again. Have thought about charging them all! Just follow the crowds, you'll soon find us!

cjwoofwoof · 09/05/2015 12:26

Have a good day Jen ilove and Rich

I've just spent half an hour tittering at two workmen installing a chimney flue next door. All I could hear was "push down hard and I'll twist it in from down here" and "thrust it to your right and I'll yank to my left" etc. It could almost have been the same conversation I had with Matthias last night... Grin

Rhu loving your story but want to smack Matt I'm afraid Angry

mummyreeds · 09/05/2015 17:14

Rhu, sorry to hear about the job, really frustrating spending ages on an application form and then getting a 'no' even before interview and sometimes not even a reply! Meanwhile I will second whoever suggested trying your hand at getting published, your writing is so fab. Recently a girl was writing on Wattpad and has been published into 4 books and negotiating a film deal and you are much better than her!!!

Feeling like really bad mum at mo as ds been complaining about sore throat and headache past couple of days and I thought he was trying it on, discovered last night he has chickenpox, oops. He thinks it's fab as gets a week off school, glad it's not my first week in new job! Would not be a good start.

Booked holiday in August for Devon, hmm! Who do I know lives there, maybe he would like to come with us and visit the family??? That is if he hasn't decided to defect to Scotland for good!

Richtea19 · 09/05/2015 17:26

mummy I like your style with the Devon holiday. If he's not already there then I am sure you could have him there as part of his tour!

painted the exhibition is phenomenal. I have always been a fan of his, albeit the cat walk stuff a bit weird! But the exhibit was really well done. Very dark and thought provoking. I won't say anymore, but I am sure you will love it. I bought the book from the shop, I'm a sucker for a hard backed coffee table book. It's just a shame the rest of my family use them as trays to eat their dinner off!!!

orphan I love the cafe too. It was lovely and sunny and we found a sheltered spot away from the wind, perfect.

jen I hope all the dropping off kids etx went to plan and you are now getting slowly squiffed. My voice has totally gone now :(

Paintedcherryblossoms · 09/05/2015 18:11

Thanks rich dead excited now.... plus it will feel extra decadent as doing it in work time before a couple meetings so technically playing truant Wink

Coffee table books as trays...sounds like our house too !!

orphan · 09/05/2015 20:54

richtea are you sure it was your night out with friends that caused you to lose your voice and not having to bellow instructions to CJ over the noise of the industrial blower? I think we'd better keep to ourselves exactly what those instructions were...Wink

orphan · 09/05/2015 20:57

Glad you enjoyed the exhibition. Did it say much about his relationship with Isabella Blow?

icemistOBE · 09/05/2015 21:11

Evening

Hope cj is enjoying the wedding with Jen and there's not been too much rivalry between him and RL Chris Grin

rhubarb, how did it sort out with the kids? Hope it is all OK. Sorry to hear about the job too, but don't let it put you off applying to others. Hopefully there will be something better coming soon?

Sounds like a good time was had by all in Scotland over the last few days (RL catching up a bit with me so not been here as much as I would like!). I hope RLC isn't behaving himself too much (looking forward to hearing his exploits) and that jen is having fun with CJ :)

I am completely overwhelmed with RL stuff at the mo. Cub camp next weekend, that I have just, yes just, been told that I am supposed to be in charge off. Not happy about that at all (ooh, liking these italics, not done that before!!), and is putting a bit of a damper on the whole thing for me, which I was really looking forward to before today. So, not only will I have no internet connection (unless I disappear off to do something very important in the nearby Costa town) but it looks like I might actually have to be responsible too!! SPO if you are reading this, please don't post another chapter of zombies over next weekend, before Friday would be lovely, if you could .... Wink.

Ilovelblue · 09/05/2015 22:02

Home again and washing all spinning merrily at the moment. Strange feeling coming home. We packed a lot in and the combination of that and our MN parallel universe that is CJ have thrown me completely! My friend still has no idea how much time I spend with you all and whilst she was reading avidly once we got back to the apartment, I was either on here or catching up on the ff. I took a magazine and a book and never opened either of them! My cold or bug or whatever it was got the better of me this morning and I felt so tired but had woken up twice last night with a coughing fit. I packed my friend off to do the shops - I just couldn't be bothered fighting through the Saturday crowds and I pottered along the Royal Mile (I enjoy taking photos) and then went down into Princes Street gardens for a coffee and a sit down.

Apologies to everyone for not reviewing the latest ff but I find it such a long winded task on my phone so am going to do it now on my laptop.

Jen saw you whisk CJ off - will be interested to know how he and RLC hit it off. They seemed to be sizing each other up as I left. And of course in RL, will be waiting with baited breath to see if RLC disgraces himself with any of the bridesmaids etc.

No CJ on these photos so you will just have to imagine him but as orphan and Richtea will testify, he did look pretty handsome in his kilt....

Evening. Nickel. In the end after the telling off they had their computers removed for a couple of days. Not sure how effective that was. The main culprit didn't seem too bothered. His assistant apparently had an attack of the screaming vapours when she came home from school witnessed by elder DD who thought it was very funny! I don't think younger DD thought she was to blame because she was the one who owned up to what they had done. I don't think they'll try it again, though.

As for jobs, thanks for the encouragement. I don't apply all that often because for a complicated variety of reasons that mean I have to sift through what there is very carefully and options are sometimes limited. I know what you mean about applications though. I was made redundant about six years ago at the height of the recession and it was just impossible to find any family friendly employment and lots of people who couldn't get full-time were taking part-time work. About seventy per cent of the applications made then were just ignored altogether and you're right they take hours of work. Having worked in HR in the past I just find that so rude to applicants. I can assure you that never happened anywhere I worked, ladies!

Good luck with the cub camp Nickel. Is it outdoor camping brrr! or indoor camping? You need CJ for the weekend to help organise the little scamps. I bet they'd all look up to him and do as they're told - well so would most of us come to that!

Richtea19 · 09/05/2015 23:36

nickel good luck with the cub camp, bit naughty to put you in charge without consulting you. You all have to download FF and save it to read when you're away (think that would work without Internet?).

ilove great photos. I've never been to Edinburgh, we went to Glasgow for a wedding, but flew in and then out, the kids were babies so had to be home asap and no time for sightseeing. Definitely Scotland is on my list of places to visit.

orphan nothing about Isabella Blow. Well nothing I saw, it was very busy. Mainly about his collections and the inspiration behind each one. No pictures of him at all. There might be something in the book, but I haven't unwrapped it yet!

Think you're right about the my missing voice.... Trying to make myself heard over the noise of the blower. Grin

Rhubarb01 · 09/05/2015 23:37

Does anyone have any experience with wattpad? I know you mentioned it mummy and I had a look over there and set up an account and was assigned a random photo icon type thing - weird - but beyond that it looks a bit of a mystery. I read an article about it and it sounded like a full-time job if you get involved in it I get the feeling it's a whole social media world by itself.

orphan · 10/05/2015 07:35

Morning. Have amazed myself and am up early enjoying the peace before the rest of the house descend. Ds has his girlfriend staying (can't remember who had the girlfriend staying dilemma recently - we crossed that bridge a long time ago...) so usually means I'm wheedled into making pancakes etc for breakfast.

Think I'll reread some of the ff from the beginning with my cup of tea ignoring the pile of books again

orphan · 10/05/2015 07:43

jen I think we're all on tenterhooks waiting for a wedding report. Hope CJ and RLC didn't clash like rutting stags, although on second thoughts, hmmm...Blush

nickel I'm always so impressed and grateful to any activity leaders. Dd was a Brownie and then a guide briefly and the leaders were amazing.

icemistOBE · 10/05/2015 08:02

Morning

I too am awaiting a wedding update Grin

Morning all (whispers). No raised voices for me, I'm very delicate this morning - typing this with one eye open, not even considering trying to stand up yet Confused. Free bar at a wedding plus a child free night means trouble!

CJ was an absolute delight, kept to the long lost relative story like a pro. I was worried how it was going to go with him and RLC as the introduction wasn't good, but they soon hit it off.

The wedding was in a castle in an old country estate, and I'm afraid CJ and I missed a good bit of the ceilidh to go exploring - when we found the drawing room / library, I couldn't resist and had to ask him to recreate that ff where sulky CJ whisks Molly off the the library and shags her senseless against the bookcases shows her the merit of a good read. It was an interesting evening!

He was a gent when we were in company too, although I did get a bit sick of the constant stream of women queuing to dance with him. He lapped it up though, and I did overhear him boast to one of them that his kilt had been thoroughly hand fitted in Edinburgh when he was complimented on it.

In RL it was still a wonderful day but I am so bloody hungover that I'm wondering if it was worth it! RLC disappeared at the same time as one of the bridesmaids was called to the floor for the first dance. She never bloody appeared (bride was fuming) !! Haven't seen him since, and need to find him this morning for our lift home!

Think I'm meant to be dropping CJ with whajeb for a few hours today.
I'm in her neck of the woods anyway, so could probably send him soon.

crawls back under covers

Richtea19 · 10/05/2015 09:22

jen sounds like a fun night, make sure you recover fully before the kids return! And sounds like CJ was the perfect gentlemen, unlike RLC. I suppose that was on the cards that he would disappear with a bridesmaid. The thought of CJ and you in the library banging again the books reminds me of "Etonement" Keira Knightly and the delectable James McAvoy. Grin

Rhubarb01 · 10/05/2015 09:39

Morning. Know what you mean about the Atonement scene Richtea. It's actually the only film I've ever liked Keira Knightly in. I thought she played that brilliantly. Apart from that I find her very irritating to watch. It must just be a personal thing, poor Keira, I'm sure she's lovely but she does this grinning thing all the time I don't like. I absolutely hate the film version of Pride and Prejudice. She's just not my Elizabeth at all. Still the film of Atonement still has the power to make me cry - so it was a good 'un.
