Thread number one.

So are we all still watching, despite the mumbling, bad writing and inaccuracies?

I'm not sure what ClaireGwen is up to, but they've written her to like kinky sex which in telly land means she's a bad un.

Last night's highlight for me was DH's genuine confusion over whether subtitles were for the hearing impaired or vision impaired (he may have had a couple of beers). Also sweaty Lee hammering in fence posts.

Has that junior solicitor fella been in something on CBBC?

When does The Missing season 2 start?

I'm still watching-desperately hoping there is a brilliant twist & everything will make sense Confused
(also bonus of seeing DT & hoping to see more of Rev RoryWink)

NomDePlumeRidesAgain · 27/01/2015 17:15

I enjoyed sweaty lee

LIZS · 27/01/2015 17:28

Yes junior qc was in Sorry I've got no Head. Had to check with da last night!

Sunnymeg · 27/01/2015 18:02

Another mystery, why are they pretending Bridgwater in Somerset is Sandbrook?? We live a few miles away and thought why are they showing the Wicker Man and the Morrison Distribution Centre? They are easily identifiable to any one who drives up and down the M5.

BingoBonkers · 27/01/2015 18:07

It's crazy! Why has Pauline Quirke said it was her son when she knows it wasn't?

eddiemairswife · 27/01/2015 18:25

I can't see the attraction of Rev Rory. He looks like a rodent, as does Jude Law.

I don't understand why the body was in a boat? I assumed it had been thrown off the cliff.
I can't really keep up. I think Claire/Gwen is probably innocent although what was DT looking for in her house when she went for a walk with Ellie

OwlBeGoing · 27/01/2015 19:04

I laughed when OC's son just upped and left Pauline Quirk's caravan without taking the game he'd been playing or the system he was playing it on

katese11 · 27/01/2015 19:07

phew....Thanks for the new thread! I thought I'd have nowhere to vent/speculate

SignoraLiviaBurlando · 27/01/2015 19:16

found you!
glad to see PQ back - like her acting.
Is there really a caravan park on the beach in Dorset, if so, where..?

LifeOfBriony · 27/01/2015 19:17

Thanks for the new thread and the link, Eau Rouge.

^I don't know if this has been covered already but Daniel and now Tom seem awfully mature for the age they were/are supposed to be.

This has been bothering me since I watched the first series to catch up before this one started Hmm^

Agree with this, it bothers me, too. I wonder whether they are using slightly older actors due to the more adult material. The actor playing Danny had some scenes with Joe showing what happened when they met up in the hut.

I too was confused, seeing the Wicker Man. Where is Sandbrook supposed to be?

Back to the actual plot. In series 1, I thought that the man seen putting clothes in the bin was Nigel, probably because, like Joe, he is bald. But perhaps having a convicted paedophile's son as the murderer is too obvious.

I think Claire is guilty of the Sandbrook murder. A hunch, really, and if she really thought Lee had done it, she wouldn't have let him back into her life, would she? Unless she is too scared not to.

I believe this series is 8 episodes.

diddl · 27/01/2015 19:20

Fed up with it now.

So there's only one hotel in Sandbrook??

DT or OC couldn#t have stayed on the sofa at his exes?

So Ricky from Sandbrook was shagging whatever he could?

And Lee was seeing his wife?

Oh I give up!!

chaiselounger · 27/01/2015 19:27

so glad I found you. I was searching all afternoon!!!

I thought this weeks episode was a bit better.
but like you say, a bit holey - as others have found holes - only one hotel? oh please!

FoxyMcFox · 27/01/2015 20:05

Marking place.

AuntieMaggie · 27/01/2015 20:23

What is Pauline Quirke's character up to? Did anyone else get the impression that Tom and her were comfortable with each other and possibly he'd been spending time there previously?

GratefulHead · 27/01/2015 20:27

Glad to find the new thread.

Glad to see Pauline Quirke back, fabulous actor...and Vince the dog...hooray.

Was also glad to see a little more of Nige, was wondering where he had gone.

I know it's not as good as Season 1 but I am still enjoying it, it's still by far one of the best things on TV at the moment.

WhereBeThatBlackbirdTo · 27/01/2015 20:36

signora yep, there really is a caravan park there, right by the beach. It's called Freshwater.

It's about a 20 minute walk along the beach from West Bay. DH says to put that it's in an easterly direction!

Icimoi · 27/01/2015 21:09

Junior prosecution lawyer isn't a solicitor or QC, he's a junior barrister.

ColouringInQueen · 27/01/2015 21:10

janus I'm with you I think Lee is in Claire's power and either he committed the murders for her or he helped her in some way...

The Nigel thing - I'm thinking his involvement implies that more people in Broadchurch were involved, so Joe could have done the strangling but what else was going on that night - and did it involve Rory?

Definitely better last night but still v confusing!

DT and OC in bed made me Smile

Sunnymeg · 27/01/2015 21:22

Aramimta, it is under 50 miles in real life from Bridgwater (Sandbrook) to West Bay (Broadchurch).

hollyisalovelyname · 27/01/2015 21:30

I feel sorry for OC's wee baby. She's never around. Drop of a hat and she's off with DT ( mind you a lot of you Mumsnetters sound like you, at the drop of a hat would be off with DT also Smile) I can't see the attraction myself and can't understand his mumblings, thanks though for the subtitles tip... I at last understood what they were saying . Grin

whothehellknows · 27/01/2015 21:36

I can't remember, why was the boy's body put into a boat and then onto the beach?

(It just doesn't seem like very good planning, given that there were cliffs and a vast expanse of sea available in which to obscure evidence)

ArabellaStrange · 27/01/2015 21:53

The murderer, whoever that is but when it was Joe, said that he wanted to make sure that Dans body was found.
I am not even bothering to follow what is happening properly now, none of it makes sense but I will keep on watching as I love Olivia Coleman and the Claire lady is beautiful!

nooddsocksforme · 27/01/2015 22:14

the old memory is a bit dodgy these days but didnt joe and ocs boy delete a whole lot of stuff from his computer in series one-and in the trial this week they suggested that altho txts sent from Joes phone that didnt mean he sent them. And whose phone did oc steal that had rickys no on it. partly getting confused cos its not so gripping this time and keep getting distracted by posts on here
