Broadchurch thread 2- the one where everyone in MNPD requests a transfer to the traffic division

Thread number one.

So are we all still watching, despite the mumbling, bad writing and inaccuracies?

I'm not sure what ClaireGwen is up to, but they've written her to like kinky sex which in telly land means she's a bad un.

Last night's highlight for me was DH's genuine confusion over whether subtitles were for the hearing impaired or vision impaired (he may have had a couple of beers). Also sweaty Lee hammering in fence posts.

Has that junior solicitor fella been in something on CBBC?

When does The Missing season 2 start?

Sorry, think about it.
The police arrive and find a dead woman, a drunk bloke and a sober bloke who's just seen off a stalker. No sign of rape, and two versions, including a child who heard noises and thought it was someone being hurt but easily explained by sex. So instead of trying to explain, they decide to hide the body and kill the daughter.

hollyisalovelyname · 23/02/2015 22:38

Why was there rohypnol in the flask. Who owned the flask ?

Norfolkandchance1234 · 23/02/2015 22:41

What a rubbish ending I was expecting the twist that Tom, Jo's teenage son killed his best friend Danny and he was covering it up. Instead nothing, no twist whatsoever. What a pointless disappointing series.

Clawdy · 23/02/2015 22:42

It makes no sense that they would kill a little girl they both liked, and risk being found guilty of that, simply because they feared being found guilty of a murder they hadn't committed!

Missanneshirley · 23/02/2015 22:49

I think we were meant to think that Claire was so crazily in love with Lee that she would go to such huge lengths (although she got him to do it for her right enough!). also manically wanting a perfect future with the baby.

The drugs were ricky's, he'd been made out to be a drug user and date rapist.

Missanneshirley · 23/02/2015 22:50

Sorry to ask the obvious but do we actually know who dunnit? he kept saying sorry when they were up in the hut, which I took as his admission of guilt?

Janus · 23/02/2015 22:51

Clawdy - EXACTLY what I was thinking. Why would you commit a murder to cover up a murder you didn't commit?? Wouldn't you rather try and defend yourself (Ricky must have been covered in blood splatters, Lee wouldn't have been, etc, etc) rather than KILL A CHILD? I nearly threw something at the TV at that point. Utter crap!
BOF, you did make me laugh!!

hollyisalovelyname · 23/02/2015 22:51

Did they put Pippa into the river ?

Clawdy · 23/02/2015 22:53

Think it's accepted Joe is definitely guilty. If Clare wanted a future with a baby, why did she abort the baby?

Nerf · 23/02/2015 22:53

It was all a bit stupid.
Who is in France?
Furnace a red herring? Or did Ricky burn her body there?
How would Ricky let them get away with Pippa dying?
Why did Claire not have the pendant?
What was the point of the mum being an alcoholic?

Nerf · 23/02/2015 22:54

Why did Claire decide to go into pretend witness protection? How did she think that would end?

AnnieHoo · 23/02/2015 22:55

Ricky burnt the blood stained floor boards in furnace.

Joe committed the Broadchurch murder.

They managed a lot in one evening, two murders, two body dumps, burning the flooring, cleaning the house. Bloody hell must have looked like crap the next few days. Also why was Claire coming home so late? Where had she been?

Janus · 23/02/2015 22:58

And they said Lee didn't buy a duplicate laminate floor until the Monday so did they just sit and stare at the blood floor all Sunday as wedding/murder was on Saturday night? Wouldn't you have bought the exact same floor rather than going a shade lighter? Wouldn't the police have knocked on their door and come in to discuss girls' disappearance on the Sunday when the bloody floor was still there?

lostoncemore · 23/02/2015 22:58

Lee burnt the flooring in the furnace didn't he?

MarsdenMarcher · 23/02/2015 23:00

He bought a second set of laminate flooring on Monday. The floor in his house was relaid using flooring Lee conveniently had for another job....

lostoncemore · 23/02/2015 23:01

Well I am confused because it was a new house on a new estate, it wouldn't have had oak floorboards in the first place. Jeez.

seaoflove · 23/02/2015 23:01

And they said Lee didn't buy a duplicate laminate floor until the Monday so did they just sit and stare at the blood floor all Sunday as wedding/murder was on Saturday night?

He bought flooring on the Saturday for Monday's job. Then used that flooring in his own house. Then went out again on Monday to buy a second lot of flooring, which he used for Monday's job.

Janus · 23/02/2015 23:02

Ah Marsden, thank you, and yes, how convenient to have just the right amount of laminate flooring hanging around!!! Gawd!

lostoncemore · 23/02/2015 23:05

Ricky managed to sober up quickly enough.

MadameJulienBaptiste · 23/02/2015 23:07

Well I sat through it with my knitting, à la gilloutine.
I have just one thing to say.

MEH

Karmaone · 23/02/2015 23:08

My mum text me to say she thinks it was the sister! Has she lost her marbles!? I thought she looked quite strange when she squeezed the flowers but didn't think much of it. Anyone else?

rosy71 · 23/02/2015 23:08

Well, I enjoyed it.

whothehellknows · 23/02/2015 23:08

Kate Gillespie was an alcoholic because her husband Ricky was a serial cheater and date rapist and she drank rather than watch him flirt with everyone.

The flask was Ricky's because he liked to carry around rohypnol to try and date rape women.
