Notebooks at the ready Grin We should have enough information at the end of the first episode to start cooking up some slightly implausible theories.

TwatFaceBitch · 26/01/2015 22:38

ara I had those doubts in the first one
But then oc said to her how could you not know? Then OCs husband was found out and the mother said the same to Oc

MadameJulienBaptiste · 26/01/2015 22:50

I thought Lee must have a job as a farm labourer, hence banging in the fence posts.

Cor.

I wish dt and oc would just hurry up and shag though, I am sure that will come about in the final episode. Its such a love/hate relationship!!

katese11 · 26/01/2015 22:51

Well PQ has livened things up a bit! But I'm amazed by just how slutty ClaireGwen is. She slept with Sandbrook dad AND Hardy? And she eats a takeaway from a man she claimed drugged her? She's not even trying to act innocent any more.

Good to see Miller and Hardy finally sleep together too ;)

Wadingthroughsoup · 26/01/2015 22:59

Yes, I do hope OC and DT get it on. The hotel bedroom scene was very cliched!

Lee is very easy on the eye.

Hobbes, Yes, I also wondered why Joe's attack on car park man hadn't been reported. Surely he could have lost his job/been suspended for something like that?

eddiemairswife · 26/01/2015 23:25

I too immediately recognised murdered girl's dad (Shaun Dooley), because I thought he is in something else I am currently watching, but I don't know what it is and I am confused.

MmeMorrible · 27/01/2015 00:54

So is PQs other daughter (the one taken into care) going to turn out to be a resident of Sandbrook or Broadchurch?

It couldn't be Claire could it??

She was sleeping with creepy dad and DT at the same time as being in a relationship with fence post Lee... nah that's totally virtuous!

OC has only slept with one person and she was single at the time...And also pushed into the whole thing by Claire. As for DT...He may well be slutty too but that idea takes my mind into all kinds of places....

katese11 · 27/01/2015 07:42

Anyhoo bad choice of word and not one I would use about a RL person but it certainly seems to be the image the writers are keen to project of her - she's so far slept with every man she's had a conversation with!

Mumtotherescueagain · 27/01/2015 08:08

I thought last night's episode was better than last week but still bemusing. What the heck was the vicar going on about - what a spiffing idea to discuss with a recently bereaved mother whilst it looks like the bloke who did it might get off.

ExitPursuedByABear · 27/01/2015 08:11

And likes a bit of bondage.

Clearly trying to make her out to be a woman of loose morals.

hackmum · 27/01/2015 08:38

I thought last night's episode was much better too, though I was still confused.

Of the two daughters who went missing, I think the older one was having an affair with Lee (or possibly someone else) and is probably still alive. Someone is hiding her somewhere.

In the last series, Pauline Quirke thought it was Nigel carrying the body - they made a big thing of the fact that Joe and Nigel looked very similar, so it was an easy mistake to make. And equally easy for Susan now to say that her original assumption had been right.

In terms of who was having an affair with who, do we all think that Claire was having an affair with the girls' dad? Or was that just implied?

Also, do we all think there is some big connection between the Sandbrook case and Broadchurch - some missing link that will explain everything?

katese11 · 27/01/2015 09:07

hackmum the Sandbrook mum said something like "he was having it off with her over the fence"... I'm just flabbergasted that the dad of the victim was having an affair with the wife of the accused and no one thought to bring it up at the time??

(Or almost like the writers are making this up as they go along)

HouseOfBamboo · 27/01/2015 10:22

It's all thoroughly confusing. Is there any mileage in Joe and Nigel being related somehow, what with them being looky-likeies?

OnlyLovers · 27/01/2015 10:28

I don't think Joe and Nige look alike at all; they're just both bald. Nige is much taller and bigger-built and they have very different features; Nige has a broad flat face and nose, a wide mouth and relatively small eyes while Joe is fine-boned with big eyes.

I'm still totally confused about Claire/Lee/the girls/who Claire was or wasn't sleeping with. It does look as though the girl's father is in on some secret or other about the murder/abduction though.

Pinkwillow · 27/01/2015 10:31

OC found Rick's number on Clare's phone(one of only 2 numbers),so she's still in contact with him.

TwatFaceBitch · 27/01/2015 10:37

I think I missed a bit last night. So has DT slept with Claire?

seaoflove · 27/01/2015 10:45

It looks like it. I thought something was up when he stroked her arm reassuringly at court. There was an intimacy about it.

But Ellie asked Alec if he'd slept with Claire, he refused to answer, and it cut to a flashback of Claire lying facing him in bed. His other flashback (of being underwater) was legit, so I don't see why this one wouldn't be.

seaoflove · 27/01/2015 10:48

I don't think they're making a big deal about them being lookalikes. But when they were seen by witnesses (Ellie's sister and Susan Wright) both saw bald men in woolly hats from a distance. Neither of them knew for sure who it was, but both chose to lie in court and said it was definitely Joe/definitely Nigel. It just adds yet another element of doubt as to whether Joe is going to be convicted.

Fullpleatherjacket · 27/01/2015 10:57

I don't know if this has been covered already but Daniel and now Tom seem awfully mature for the age they were/are supposed to be.

This has been bothering me since I watched the first series to catch up before this one started Hmm

Janus · 27/01/2015 11:06

Does anyone know how many episodes there are this time?
I thought last night's was better but still couldn't help picking holes in it. Why does Claire make out that she's scared of her husband and then lets him in and jumps on him? To me it seems like she found out that her husband was having an affair with the babysitter next door and then murdered her and had to murder the younger girl as well to cover her tracks. I think Lee is under her control and may even know she did this but won't tell anyone.
There is no possibility that OC's husband didn't murder the boy is there? I'm beginning to wonder if his son did it and he confessed to save his child??

AnnieHoo · 27/01/2015 11:08

Joe and Nigel are both bald with size 10 shoes.

Hackmum yes I also think there is a connection between sandbrook and broadchurch but can't figure out what... Could be a link between the detectives Hardy - hardy's wife - the DI that hardy's wife was snagging.

Could be a link through the vicar - internet - boys

Could be sex addiction thing with Claire. She came to Broadchurch before Danny was killed..

Did anyone flinch when Claire walked into the court room apart from hardy?

Ach it's so confusing!! Love it though.

seaoflove · 27/01/2015 11:16

This question has been asked about 15,000 times on this thread.

No. Joe did it. We saw what Joe did. It was presented as fact, not as a made up confession.

Besides, why would Joe plead not guilty if he wanted to take the rap for his son?
