Notebooks at the ready Grin We should have enough information at the end of the first episode to start cooking up some slightly implausible theories.

Not guilty?! Shock

Am watching.

Random fact - the Court scenes were filmed at Exeter University.

BOFster · 05/01/2015 21:19

I don't see why they all so horrified at the Not Guilty plea (apart from his brief): he's entitled to mount a defence, even if he did it. He could argue Manslaughter, for example.

wonderstuff · 05/01/2015 21:20

I love Coleman

BOFster · 05/01/2015 21:20

PartyFops, I think the woman Claire is to do with a previous case that David Tennant cocked up before he arrived at Broadchurch to lead the investigation in the last series.

PeppermintPasty · 05/01/2015 21:21

Yy BOF. Plus I've never ever seen a barrister react like that. OTT.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/01/2015 21:22

weird seeing 'raine' from ee there

BOFster · 05/01/2015 21:22

The blonde is a hotelier who shagged the victim's dad behind his wife's back. Now moved onto the vicar.

Zamboni · 05/01/2015 21:23

I suspect I might post tis several times during this series, but Olivia Coleman is such a good actress.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/01/2015 21:24

cherrypie Grin

tho surely the whole series wont be about what happened in the 1st?

BOFster · 05/01/2015 21:24

Basically, it's a small town and they all know each other. There's probably a character guide on the itv website for anyone who needs to catch up/refresh their memory.

Nerf · 05/01/2015 21:24

I already hate the weird old witchy mythical fantastico qc that they all speak of in hushed tones.

BOFster · 05/01/2015 21:26

Is that Charlotte Rampling? And Carolyn Pickles?

Norfolkandchance1234 · 05/01/2015 21:27

Not guilty! Are others involved? Did he take the fall for someone else? I think I need to watch the last episode again of series one. And who the heck is Claire. I'm gripped.

BOFster · 05/01/2015 21:29

Handy refresher courseSmile

BOFster · 05/01/2015 21:30

And here

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 05/01/2015 21:30

He confessed though. Confused

I'm hooked already. Quite surprised at Hotel woman and the vicar, although I think he's a bit shifty.

Northumberlandlass · 05/01/2015 21:30

I am here, but will watch it tomorrow. I have to say that our theories where SO much better than the Series 1 ending!!
Not reading the rest of the thread in case of spoilers. Will catch up tomorrow

springlamb · 05/01/2015 21:31

Didn't the Sambrooke murderer escape? Perhaps it's him come back.
I just watched the original series last week and I might as well not bothered.

Showy · 05/01/2015 21:32

I am so pleased this is back. Brilliant for post-Christmas blues. It's brilliantly acted. Olivia Colman is just such a nuanced actress. I love her.

I'm not surprised Joe pleaded not guilty at all.

MythicalKings · 05/01/2015 21:33

Brilliant so far.

BOFster · 05/01/2015 21:34

It's a cracking cast.

Zamboni · 05/01/2015 21:36

I think the Sandbrook case collapsed and the defendant walked free. DT wore some of the blame for it. Poss some police/investigative issues in the case?

Indianashopgirl · 05/01/2015 21:36

Didn't someone say about a different ending to the first one in the USA?
Is this part of that?

hillyhilly · 05/01/2015 21:37

I'm really confused!! Didn't watch the first series and can't work out what's going on at all.
