Notebooks at the ready Grin We should have enough information at the end of the first episode to start cooking up some slightly implausible theories.

Fiderer yy I thought it might have been Claire having an affair with the teenage babysitter too.

Did anyone see David Tennant getting his award last night for being a super-duper actor and all-round-decent guy? He looked so surprised. It was so sweet. I luffs him . . . and Rev Rory . . .and maybe Lee when he's hammering in posts . . .

"and maybe Lee when he's hammering in posts."

Something was not right about that random shag with strangers.
For one reason only.

Claire has lee in the vicinity opening her blouse !!!!!!

DuelingFanjo · 22/01/2015 13:37

"Something was not right about that random shag with strangers"

i recon that whoever Gwen/Claire/Eve Myles shagged has told her that OC was looking at her phone meaning that Gwen/Claire/Eve has an advantage over her. After all, when she came back from the toilet she said the men were eyeing them up which means that they would have seen her dropping the phone etc.

CurlyRedHairNow · 22/01/2015 13:45

that shag will come back to haunt her I think

CurlyRedHairNow · 22/01/2015 13:45

although, she's already given evidence and been cross-examined.. not sure how they could make her look worse in a way that was relevant.

FoxyMcFox · 22/01/2015 14:06

Good point re the blokes seeing Ellie with Claire's phone.

Nothing was believable about that shag. One minute Ellie wants to get rid of them, next scene he is humping away on top of her. No WAY would she have let it go that far. A more likely scenario would have been her and bloke sitting downstairs awkwardly drinking coffee watching Storage Wars while Claire loudly shagged her bloke upstairs a la Gavin and Stacey breakfast scene.

MindReader · 22/01/2015 14:14

I thought the shag was completely wrong for Ellie's character too.

Nerf · 22/01/2015 15:08

I don't think Claire shagged anyone, she said he was still sleeping. Bet she used the time to frame Ellie.

FoxyMcFox · 22/01/2015 15:39

Really want this thread filled up so we can start a new one. This one takes AGES to load up now Angry

MadameJulienBaptiste · 22/01/2015 16:14

Ellie may have gone along with the casual shag to keep up the 'bezzie mates' image for Claire.

AnnieHoo · 22/01/2015 16:39

It's all so out of character. Is she so self loathing that she'd go out with a murder suspect for a piss up and go along with shagging some randoms while her little kids whose dad is a murderer are left with their dodgy sister?

AnnieHoo · 22/01/2015 16:40

*her dodgy sister

hackmum · 22/01/2015 18:08

"t's just that time (like other things) is a bit elastic in Broadchurch. That may be a feature of the town or it may be the presence of a Time Lord"

You may be on to something, Fiderer. Possibly, like Cardiff, Broadchurch is built on a rift in the space-time continuum. That would explain the presence of characters who are simultaneously Gwen and Claire, and Rory and Vicar. (I can't even remember Vicar's name.) Would also explain why Danny died AFTER a whole series investigating his murder, and why Beth has the longest pregnancy in history.

Thanks for the link Araminta. Grin at "Remember You're a Womble".

iklboo · 23/01/2015 08:12

To be fair, I've had that face Ellie had on with Random Shag (who I think was supposed to look a teeny bit like Hardy - beardy n that. Freudian) with my ex.

cleanmachine · 23/01/2015 11:04

Lee is quite fit. I'm finding the Court scenes really dull. It's like watching a very dull, highly inaccurate, legal drama at the moment.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 23/01/2015 12:48

Very late to the party here, but FWIW, I'm am v disappointed so far with Broadchurch series 2. Too much unbelievable, silly stuff in it - that Guardian article was spot on IMO! I couldn't watch past episode 1 of The Fall series 2, and although I'm persevering with Broadchurch, not impressed so far!! Hoping some twit doesn't decide Happy Valley needs to go the same way. Hmmph

wigglesrock · 23/01/2015 15:17

I'm finding it very dull as well, am not that bothered about court room dramas which at the minute it is. I think I may have spoiled myself by watching all of Season 1 over a week and enjoying it much more than I thought I would. And I'm getting a bit tired of Olivia Colemans indignant/upset/ how dare you acting range. See that's how much it's annoying me I'm even getting fed up with OC Smile

cleanmachine · 23/01/2015 16:09

The sandbrook mystery is actually quite intriguing but it's all the silliness from last season i can't abide. Olivia and david are getting on my nerves and I'm really fed up of them completely unpicking and reinventing the last mystery.

SignoraLiviaBurlando · 23/01/2015 17:36

Just read an article in yesterday's Times (yes I am a bit behind...) by Deborah Ross about Broadchurch - basically looks like it's lifted word for word form this thread! very similar to the opinions on here.

hollyisalovelyname · 23/01/2015 19:51

The background music is too loud and they mumble.
Directors / sound operators don't notice because they know the words or have the script in front of them anyway.

katese11 · 24/01/2015 11:27

wiggles I'm the same - gorged myself on season 1 over Christmas, now having to sit through this slightly turgid season an episode a week!
