Notebooks at the ready Grin We should have enough information at the end of the first episode to start cooking up some slightly implausible theories.

And did anyone else have a moist moment when Alan hansen's love child Lee was swinging that sledge hammer?
If he misses and hurts his leg I might 'ave to book ze ferry.

eddiemairswife · 21/01/2015 16:40

I was very puzzled by Lee, the hammered post and the watching females.

Angelto5 · 21/01/2015 16:42

I think it was a flashback to his back garden.

I'm afraid I only have eyes for DT & Rev Rory Madame Grin

LillianGish · 21/01/2015 17:11

Just to clear, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a new father saying "I'm your daddy" to his baby in real life, but in this case it was said so pointedly with lingering camera shots on mum's face whose expression was less than doting that it seemed to signify SOMETHING.

AnnieHoo · 21/01/2015 17:29

I felt that too SOMETHING too Lillian.
It was uncomfortable.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/01/2015 17:31

thnaks winter and foxy prob is s1 was a year ago so we have forgotten maybe important parts

EauRouge · 21/01/2015 17:31

CurlyRedHairNow · 21/01/2015 17:58

the guy playing Lee ashworth is right 'ansum. must google him

I didn't get the idea that saying 'im your daddy' was anything more than an introduction. especially as he looked at beth and said "we'll get it right this time' and they both had tears in their eyes. it was sad. as you'd expect.

MadameJulienBaptiste · 21/01/2015 18:08

Really lilliangish? How about:

Relationships
should I LTB?
I dicovered my husband was having an affair last year when our son was murdered, he carried on seeing OW while the police investigation started. He now keeps going awol for hours. I was newly pg when our son was murdered. Dd2 was born last week, dh was awol again and my birth partner ended up being the wife of our sons murderer!!!! When dh finally turned up he sits there like dad of the fucking year telling our baby 'I'm your daddy' as if it was ME who had an affair!
He also said 'we'll get it right this time ' wff!!!! Like our son being murdered was a parenting error!!!
So mumsnet, should I LT the adulterous disappearing twunt?

pregnancy and birth

how long overdue before I should be induced?

I've been pregnant 10 months and haven't been offered so much as a stretch and sweep! How long is it safe to go overdue and will an extra month or two affect the tv ratings baby?
Please advise as is only my third baby so I've no idea and there doesn't seem to be a doctor in this city full of cabs to flag down sleepy village

MadameJulienBaptiste · 21/01/2015 19:14

And, you can't flag down minicabs, it's illegal. Only black cabs. Of which there is not even one in my own small town which is 10 times bigger than broadchurch.
I'd Def have jumped out of a 4th floor window if it got me in a cab with lee.

CurlyRedHairNow · 21/01/2015 19:19

Beth's screen name would be "where thee el av yoo bin!"

How does the son of the defence lawyer fit into things...

And what is the matter with the Charlotte Rampling character - is she ill?

iklboo · 21/01/2015 20:59

New Baby Lizzie was conceived on Ouzo Night, it's just that time (like other things) is a bit elastic in Broadchurch. That may be a feature of the town or it may be the presence of a Time Lord.

My latest theory is that Claire invited the babysitting cousin over for wine and then the younger girl came in and found them snogging/shagging. Fight, pushing, banged head, deaded girl. Lee came home and took the body and cousin away to Bluebell Wood. Then cleaned up.

That's how the pendant came to be in his car. Cousin is sending Claire the bluebells out of guilt. Lee is protecting Claire's secret cos he loves her.

MindReader · 22/01/2015 09:44

I missed the last 10 mins this week (stupid timer ran out on machine).

Can anyone tell me what happened, please?
(I saw the baby arrive, and the Claire and Ellie go and get drunk and end up in bed with 2 random men - believable - not....) but then it switched off.

Icimoi · 22/01/2015 10:09

amothersplace, I reckon posters upthread who suggested Charlotte Rampling person has eye problems were absolutely right. When she was talking to the junior barrister just before the crash she was demanding an audio summary of some evidence, and she was clearly struggling with oncoming headlights. Because of course when you're three years retired as a barrister and losing your sight, you absolutely would take on a heavy duty murder case at short notice, wouldn't you?

Another niggle - how come the airbag in her car didn't deploy when she crashed?

Fiderer · 22/01/2015 10:31

Good call icimoi - she was also "reading" when Maggie first called on her, using an e-book.

As for the niggles, maybe the town sign is "Broadchurch - where time is elastic, things don't make sense: Home of the Niggles."
