Corrie thread - New thread for the New Year, time for another disaster?

New thread in time for the new year - hopefully this year will see the back of some awful characters.

I would personally like to see the following rounded up and shoved in a deep hole in the Red Rec:

Izzy
Anna
Owen
Gary
Michelle
Tracey-Luv
Gavin
Faye
Yasmeen and her entire extended family
The Community Centre
Kylie
Todd
Steph

That'll do for starters.

Just read that Owen leaves in the summer too as well as Katie.

CharityD · 01/02/2015 07:22

Neither Owen nor Katy will be missed, IMO.

I guess that is why they have Owen and Anna constantly bickering, despite the fact that they got past the whole Phelan saga, and seemed happy together for a while.

afreshstartplease · 01/02/2015 07:27

Katie and izzys mum is to come to the street (owens ex wife) something about some secrets coming out. Before Katie and Owen leave

differentnameforthis · 01/02/2015 08:38

something about some secrets coming out. Ohhh, the back story is that Owen's wife left him & the girls, isn't it?

I wonder if he took the girls or kicked the mother out..

afreshstartplease · 01/02/2015 09:07

I think that's the way it'll go

Sparklingbrook · 01/02/2015 09:08

Is there a happy marriage on CS at all?

afreshstartplease · 01/02/2015 09:14

Beth and kirk seem ok so far
....

Sparklingbrook · 01/02/2015 09:16
Grin

What's the longest happy marriage? Ken and Deidre aside. Although TBF that wasn't happy or continuous was it?
Roy and Hayley?

CharityD · 01/02/2015 09:23

Can't think of any happy one at the moment.
In previous times, I'd say Stan and Hilda, and Jack and Vera, were as good as it got Grin.

Camolips · 01/02/2015 09:24

We probably have to go back to Emily and Ernest for a long and non-tempestuous one!

afreshstartplease · 01/02/2015 09:26

Jack and Vera?

afreshstartplease · 01/02/2015 09:26

Ah x post

Sparklingbrook · 01/02/2015 09:27

I know it's a soap but don't you think they could have a couple of relationships that go the distance? Sad

I guess when actors come and go as frequently as they seem to in CS it's just not possible any more though.

hildasmuriel · 01/02/2015 09:28

I don't think any of the marriages have been without serious ups and downs. The longest lived are those who bicker and argue away, Stan and Hilda, Jack and Vera. I could see Sally and Tim being the same.

CharityD · 01/02/2015 09:29

Mavis and Derek?

I can't think of any happy ones in it now.

ProfYaffle · 01/02/2015 09:34

I remember when Kevin and Sally were the 'happy ones' on the street, them breaking up was a real shocker.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 01/02/2015 09:35

Me neither, I agree it's very difficult with the high turnover of actors, it's as though getting married on screen has them running for the exit door.

CharityD · 01/02/2015 10:14

Of the current relationships, Sally and Tim are the ones that seem happiest. The day of the wedding, done up as Dollar, and then not being able to resist one another Grin made me laugh so much. They are my favourite couple.

Sophie and Maddie seem happy, even though I still find it hard to believe the transformation of Maddie. Chesney and Sinead, I'm sure will pull through this grimacing (mostly by Chesney) time together, and Leanne and Kal, although I find it hard to care in any of those three couples cases.

I hope Dev and Julie have a longterm relationship. Cannot imagine Gary and Alya staying together.

The others that I can think of, who are happy, but for whom we know there is trouble looming are Eva and Jason, and Liz and Tony.

Steve and Michelle are just not well matched, but I can well imagine we will be hearing wedding bells, in the future.

Sparklingbrook · 01/02/2015 10:18

I think it's funny that all these people live in the same place as all of their exes still.

So Sally and Kevin still see each other as do Tracey and Steve, Leanne and Nick etc. So not real life isn't it? Grin

mytartanscarf · 01/02/2015 10:31

Aw, I would love to see Beth and Kirk and Jason and Eva together. They are well suited and good solid characters who make the soap believable.

CharityD · 01/02/2015 10:49

Yes, I like Jason and Eva together, but she must be due to leave soon. I hope they get back together if/ when she returns from maternity leave.

Camolips · 01/02/2015 11:03

I like Gail and Michael. Do we know if he is in it for the long term or does his heart get the better of him?

Ellenora5 · 01/02/2015 17:48

Grantly the physiciatrist ............nope not buying it

At least great granny showed up, sinead must have thought she had been abandoned by her family

hottiebottie · 01/02/2015 22:07

It wasn't all plain sailing for Emily and Ernest, as the early years were beset by arguments and heartache, and they were only married for six years before poor old Ernest was shot during the factory robbery. Mind you, by today's standards I suppose a marriage lasting six years is quite good considering some never even get past the reception in soapland! Hmm

eddiemairswife · 01/02/2015 22:13

Looked briefly at Big Brother this evening. Was surprised to see Les Dennis there until I realised it was Keith Chegwin. They ate very alike.
