Corrie thread - New thread for the New Year, time for another disaster?

New thread in time for the new year - hopefully this year will see the back of some awful characters.

I would personally like to see the following rounded up and shoved in a deep hole in the Red Rec:

Izzy
Anna
Owen
Gary
Michelle
Tracey-Luv
Gavin
Faye
Yasmeen and her entire extended family
The Community Centre
Kylie
Todd
Steph

That'll do for starters.

OP posts:

Lay off Steve everyone. Cringing at the way they are dismissing his depression.

fixedit · 23/01/2015 21:41

Who the actual Fuck is voting to keep Nadia???

fixedit · 23/01/2015 21:42

Oops wrong thread.

eddiemairswife · 23/01/2015 22:02

Chesney is a miserable so and so. He's only got one expression whatever emotion he is going through. Very cute as a child actor but not so good now. Speaking of which, where is Simon? He hasn't been around since before Christmas. Do you think he's been dumped and will return with a new head in a few years?

squoosh · 23/01/2015 22:06

They should have got rid of Chesney when he stopped being cute. Harsh but true because the boy cannot act.

Completely agree re Chesney. He really has had no proper storylines, in a long time, and is so one dimensional.
Who is working in the kebab shop now while he grimaces at Sinead's bedside? Oh wait, nobody cares...( about the kebab shop!)

Shhhh, don't mention Simon. Maybe they will forget to bring him back from wherever he is. Wink

Mary is really really annoying me with her behaviour towards Roy. Angry

EachandEveryone · 23/01/2015 23:28

They'll have to bring him back for grandmas funeral. And Peter.

eddiemairswife · 23/01/2015 23:53

Didn't Katie work at the kebab shop? I noticed Chesney saib Katie had Joseph while he was at the hospital. but Anna and Katie donned coats to go out to fetch him.

cleanmachine · 24/01/2015 08:05

Took me a while to warm to mary and now she's a family favourite but I'm going off her fast with her behalf towards roy. It's out of character for Mary to be like this.

Love david. Hes always brilliant but becomes a boring sap when paired with kylie. She ducks the life and evil out of him.

hildasmuriel · 24/01/2015 09:59

I think Mary is supposed to be a very straight character with strong ideas of what is wrong and right, hence her harsh stance on Roy as I don't think she can reconcile his actions with the man she knows, who I think she would see as a kindred spirit with strong moral sense of right and wrong (indeed how Roy is judging himself on this.) I think it is interesting to consider how such an action would colour our perception of someone we are close to. Look how they are all turning on Steve because they felt he abandoned them to their fate.

I am not, however, sure how Mary's current strong moral sense stands up with the storyline where she kidnapped Norris in 'Misery' type scenarioGrin.

Clawdy · 24/01/2015 10:05

The problem with Mary is the ridiculous lines she is given sometimes, they almost make her into a pantomime character. And some unbelievable scenes like the one where she asked Gavin to massage her back in the Rovers! It's time they tried to present her as a real person.

Jill2015 · 24/01/2015 10:07

Didn't Katie work at the kebab shop?

Oh right, I remember she used to work for Owen at one stage, but I couldn't remember seeing her anywhere else.
The kebab shop doesn't seem to do much business anyway. Grin

David and Les/ Michael together can be quite funny at times. I laughed last night when G/Andy and Steph came to call, and Les/ Michael opened the door still wearing the grandad tshirt, and he said to David why didn't you tell me!

Sparklingbrook · 24/01/2015 10:08

Hi all. Dipping in and out as ever and watching the omnibus now. I am amazed at how they all survived the crash.

Roussette · 24/01/2015 10:12

Mary is a typical panto corrie character isn't she - I think she's great but there's little realism about it! The 'Misery' Norris storyline was hilarious. I want Mary to marry Norris Grin

Exactly.

I'd forgotten the back massage thing, completely silly stuff, and a great example of where she is switched back into pantomime character, on a regular basis.

rosiepinkcheeks · 24/01/2015 10:17

Any thoughts on the gay vicar? I quite like him but was distracted by the hideous shirts they were both wearing??

Theshedofalfredogarcia · 24/01/2015 10:53

I think Katie works at the gym and Chesney runs the kebab shop[although he's never there].

Glad David said something when Gavin asked if he could have a word alone with Les Dennis. He is being too nice letting a random burglar and his "son" have the run of his house.I want him to get evil again.

Eileen is looking nice at the moment.

Jill2015 · 24/01/2015 10:58

Oh yes, I remember now one night she was holding forth to Owen, in the gym, about Alya, and Kal walked in behind her, and reprimanded her.

Glad now nobody died in the crash, given that it was aired in what turned out to be a sad week for Corrie.

Roussette · 24/01/2015 11:30

Theshed totally agree on Eileen! She has lost lots of weight and looks good and so different to when she started.

eddiemairswife · 24/01/2015 12:03

Vicar nice, but a bit too smiley at the moment. Wish Eileen could be given a really good storyline.

hildasmuriel · 24/01/2015 12:21

I quite like smiley Vicar too. Eileen is awesome and at her best when she gets quarrelsome and sarcy with the neighbours. Hope the return of Sarah Lou might invigorate her's and Gail's feud.

rosiepinkcheeks · 24/01/2015 12:54

Random question but who looks after everyone's kids on the street?. On the night of the bus crash Kev walks into pub..all the extended Webster family were either on the bus or in the Rovers. Hmm

eddiemairswife · 24/01/2015 13:07

The mysterious childminder of course! It seems as if Max is doing really well with his ADHD. Are the tablets usually as effective?

Jill2015 · 24/01/2015 13:12

Yes, Eileen looks great.
I was so glad last night when she threw her arms around Steve. They have always been good friends, and are great in scenes together.

Roussette · 24/01/2015 15:12

Yes they are my two favourite characters. I hope there's a big storyline coming up for her. She's a strong woman!
