Corrie thread - New thread for the New Year, time for another disaster?

New thread in time for the new year - hopefully this year will see the back of some awful characters.

I would personally like to see the following rounded up and shoved in a deep hole in the Red Rec:

Izzy
Anna
Owen
Gary
Michelle
Tracey-Luv
Gavin
Faye
Yasmeen and her entire extended family
The Community Centre
Kylie
Todd
Steph

That'll do for starters.

I thought last night's episode was really moving - Steve and Michelle were so lovely together; hopefully she'll now get the opportunity to be supportive.

Poor Carla - she'll never get rid of Tracy now!!! Grin

EachandEveryone · 23/01/2015 07:16

I hope she doesn't go back to Steve though, I never liked them together.

cleanmachine · 23/01/2015 07:27

Different this is a lighthearted thread stop pulling apart posters comments ffs. Go start a thread in aibu, you won't be ignored there.

cleanmachine · 23/01/2015 07:27

Steve has acted brilliantly throughout this storyline.

ajandjjmum · 23/01/2015 07:32

It seems that very few people do Each - I just thought they were lovely together last night. Maybe if Michelle loses the fishwife in her, they could be good?

hildasmuriel · 23/01/2015 08:18

I think they were ok before she went all snippy. To be fair Steve did dump her for Becky so can understand why she doesn't totally trust him. I was touched by them together this week so I hope they get chance to work through it.

What is going to happen with Sinead do we think? Is she going to have a Sophie like recovery, not being able to walk for just long enough to form a relationship with the physio, or could she still die? I know it's not universal but I like Sinead. She is sensible and kind and I think her reaction to Roy was totally understandable. She was, after all, the one who witnessed it and I think anyone seeing someone (no matter how lovely and the provocation) beat another human being with a cricket bat would be shocked and have their view of that person altered.

Roussette · 23/01/2015 08:21

different I do know about grief unfortunately, I'm not immune to it, so stop digging with the barbed comments. Can I ask that we put this to one side for the sake of this lighthearted thread.

Steve's acting is superb in this storyline, I agree clean. I've always liked him from the first day he showed his face on the Street with Andy his twin (who rarely gets mentioned now!)

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 23/01/2015 08:33

I dont know why they chose Sinead to be the one in the most critical condition - from even just this forum alone she doesnt seem that liked a character. And surely they should have given that bit to someone who the fans would root for.

Kirk, Beth, maybe even Maddie (who seems to be going under some sort of personality transplant each episode).

Roussette · 23/01/2015 08:40

I couldn't resist! Steve looks about 12! And now he is battling depression..

I think Maddy is becoming a superb character. I liked her from the start because she had some fire in her belly but the dynamics of the new extended family are fantastic. Tim's face when Kevin was hugging Sally was great too. Surely mileage for the writers in these dynamics.

Jill2015 · 23/01/2015 09:07

I love watching old episodes with Steve and Andy as young guys, Steve was always a bit of a wheeler-dealer.
I thought Julie was brilliant in the crash scene. She held everyone else together, by being so calm, ripping her skirt, and phoning for help.
I loved the bit where Kev arrived at the hospital, and Tim told him to give Sal a hug, then said, okay that's enough. Grin
I enjoy the subtle humour all the time there, with that trio. Tim and Kev get on better than Sally and Kev.
So glad that Steve finally was able to confide in someone. I think he is playing a blinder in this storyline.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 23/01/2015 09:19

Both Maddy and Tim have changed totally, Tim was awful when he first arrived as Faye's dad, Maddy has grown up immensely, I agree that family has really worked well together. I liked the bit with Kev and Tim in the hospital too.

cleanmachine · 23/01/2015 09:36

Rousette Thanks for that photo. Brings back good memories. My kids don't believe when i tell them Steve wad the heartthrob of the street when he first arrived. In fact, I'm still slightly in love with him. I'm so glad he's finally got a great plot and can stop always acting like a buffoon and being treated like shit by michelle.

Chipstick10 · 23/01/2015 09:40

I really like the characters of maddy and Tim

ProfYaffle · 23/01/2015 09:59

Yes, Tim, Sally and Maddy are great now, Sophie's a bit of a spare part in that family really. I was hoping posh Diane with the Cheshire Sofa would stay in it, the group dynamic of those 4 was fabulous.

Clawdy · 23/01/2015 09:59

Steve and Michelle get married, sure I saw a photo somewhere or did I dream it?

differentnameforthis · 23/01/2015 10:25

clean my opinion is about cooment made on this thread, threads about threads often get pulled and I belueve in challenging things I see,not passively aggressively starting new threads.

I happen to think that people cannot control their grief and to make derogatory remarks about someone's display of grief is, imo, nasty.

so I will postwhere I think it is warranted, thanks.

differentnameforthis · 23/01/2015 10:30

well then, rousette, you know how emotion can creep up on you and overwhelm you. lighthearted or not, there was no need for anyone to make those remarks. I am happy to put it to one side however.

babbas · 23/01/2015 10:41

Kym, oops I mean different, you really aren't understanding the nature of this thread are you? Next you'll be telling us that you, oops I mean kym, is a great actress and we are terrible for saying otherwise.

differentnameforthis · 23/01/2015 11:12

babbas, dont be as stupid as to suggest only Kym could be upset by the nasty comments made abiut her grief.

differentnameforthis · 23/01/2015 11:15

and if you read my posts instead of trying to be clever by calling mr Kym you will see that I said it is one thing to say you dont like her/her acting, but it is another to single her out for her public display of grief, after the very recent passing of her friend and colleague.

leaving it here now.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 23/01/2015 11:24

This is a lighthearted thread about Corrie. Give it a rest.

Anyway, moving on...

Love that pic, Rous - I have always loved Steve and he's still my Street heart-throb!

OP posts:
Roussette · 23/01/2015 11:31

I love Steve's humour and/or comic timing - he's always had it right from the beginnning. I just imagine I could have a real laugh over a pint in the pub with him!

I think we need Andy to come back but no doubt it would be played by another actor as how many Nick Tilsley's have we seen?!

beachysandy75 · 23/01/2015 11:34

I like Kym Marsh and don't really get why so many people slag her off. I think it is totally normal to cry like that.

Love Corrie and hope Steve and Michelle get back together! Steve is my all time favourite character.
