Corrie thread - New thread for the New Year, time for another disaster?

AnneEyhtMeyer · 27/12/2014 17:51

New thread in time for the new year - hopefully this year will see the back of some awful characters.

I would personally like to see the following rounded up and shoved in a deep hole in the Red Rec:

Izzy
Anna
Owen
Gary
Michelle
Tracey-Luv
Gavin
Faye
Yasmeen and her entire extended family
The Community Centre
Kylie
Todd
Steph

That'll do for starters.

At mt mum's funeral, my DH's nephew, who hardly knew her, sobbed loudly and ucontrollably throughout the whole ceremony, whilst we were predictably stoic. Confused

Having said that, I cried uncontrollably at my friend's father's funeral, but I was in a bad place at the time.

You never know how grief is going to get you.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 22/01/2015 09:01

Thanks Hildas - do we know why Andy is pretending to be Gavin yet?

cleanmachine · 22/01/2015 09:29

Different - are you kim??

Apologies for any offence caused. This is generally a lighthearted thread.

SymphonyofShadows · 22/01/2015 09:35

If Kym Marsh hadn't been in such a prominent position no one would have noticed. Her sitting on the front row belies her popularity with fans, which judging by posts on a lot of message boards, isn't very high. It's baffling why such an unpopular actress/character is still there.

whoknows Andy did it 'for a laugh' because he and Gavin used to moan about their deadbeat dads, then Gavin ran off with his GF. It wasn't supposed to have lasted this long and got way out of hand. Or something.

babbas · 22/01/2015 09:38

Kim is on all the front pages today and had distracted from the tribute to deirdre. I think in such a public place you have to maintain a certain decorum for that 2 minutes during the tribute otherwise it takes away from what ken was saying. As it did.

hildasmuriel · 22/01/2015 09:40

whoknows he said just for a prank at first and to get some free drinks etc because real Gavin had always told him Dad was horrible man but when he met Les Dennis Michael he realised he was a nice bloke and felt bad.

I think someone should tell Gandy that Michael is not really Michael but is Les Dennis!! Makes me laugh how he is always Les Dennis. Even my DC call him that, we'll except one who calls him Des Lennis.

differentnameforthis · 22/01/2015 11:19

I just think she could have held herself together a bit more at a very public Awards ceremony. Perhaps, seeing as the passing of her friend is very new still, that she just became overwhelmed with grief.

But I understand, I have had friends & family back away from me since my friend died. Some people don't like seeing people grieve, from a purely selfish point of view. Doesn't give anyone the right to judge how/where people can/cannot display emotion.

differentnameforthis · 22/01/2015 11:21

Different - are you kim?? Why? Because only Kym can get offended at people criticising her grief?

No, I am not. Light-hearted or not, it is inappropriate to single her out for the way she grieves.

differentnameforthis · 22/01/2015 11:25

I didn't watch the coach crash last night, I just couldn't face Corrie without Deidre in it

Yet you criticize her friend for grieving in public? Hmm

squoosh · 22/01/2015 11:40

Was Les Dennis there last night? Thought of him when I saw Amanda Holden simpering by Cowell's side.

rosiepinkcheeks · 22/01/2015 13:13

Like many of you I have been looking at the Corrie on You Tube and loved looking at some of the Blanche/Deirdre clips. But the one I really loved watching was just Blanche/Simon and Ken - the Postman Pat scene.

Whilst I am no fan of the character Michelle I do feel for Kym Marsh as Grief does affect everyone in difference ways and has only been a couple of days. Not everyone can be as dignified as Barbara Knox

hildasmuriel · 22/01/2015 13:46

Love that rosie.

Didn't see Les Dennis there last night. Didn't seem that many of the Street cast there to me.

lovelydoggies · 22/01/2015 15:03

How typical that Anthony Cotton was in such a prominent position, sitting along side Coronation st "royalty". Why he's held in such high regard by Corrie bosses is baffling. His acting is atrocious.

Pastamancer · 22/01/2015 15:09

It was nice last night that everyone was asking how different people were and nobody asked about Sean.

cleanmachine · 22/01/2015 16:25

Is a long way for corrie actors to go so perhaps that's why there were less of them present.

It's great to see some of deirdres best scenes.

Roussette · 22/01/2015 16:54

Different I really don't think the two are remotely related. I can't quite understand what you are saying. I just felt Kym could have held it together for the seconds that the camera was on her, that's all. Not sure what that's to do with me not fancying watching Corrie last night without Deidre. I've met her a few times and I just wanted to give the programme a miss that night. That's all. I shall be back to it Friday if I'm not busy.

Thanks for that clip, Rosie. Classic!

ExitPursuedByABear · 22/01/2015 16:59

I don't think it is that far for them to go.

EachandEveryone · 22/01/2015 18:59

Maybe they didn't feel like partying? Was Liz there?

AnneEyhtMeyer · 22/01/2015 19:16

Kym likes to make everything about herself. Last week on the Voice her daughter's audition was all about her.

Dollar on TOTP2 now - had to explain to the Sally and Tim reference to my teen

cleanmachine · 22/01/2015 19:54

I agree Anne.

SymphonyofShadows · 22/01/2015 20:17

I find Kym quite fake. She used to live near me when she was married to Jack Ryder and tried very hard to remove all traces of a northern accent. Then she went to Corrie and it was all 'eh up, duck'.

hildasmuriel · 22/01/2015 22:25

Just watched last night's. Thank goodness Steve has spoken out and should get some help now.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 22/01/2015 22:33

I'm staying out of the Kym conversation as I didn't see the awards last night, the tabloids today or the Voice but I agree with Hildasmuriel, thank goodness Steve has finally asked for help, I was really moved by the scene with him and Michelle at the end.

differentnameforthis · 22/01/2015 23:54

I just felt Kym could have held it together for the seconds that the camera was on her, that's all. I doubt she was even aware the cameras were on her at that particular moment, to be quite honest.

Aside from which, you cannot turn off grief when you notice people looking! I don't know if you know, but it doesn't work like that!
