Corrie thread - New thread for the New Year, time for another disaster?

AnneEyhtMeyer · 27/12/2014 17:51

New thread in time for the new year - hopefully this year will see the back of some awful characters.

I would personally like to see the following rounded up and shoved in a deep hole in the Red Rec:

Izzy
Anna
Owen
Gary
Michelle
Tracey-Luv
Gavin
Faye
Yasmeen and her entire extended family
The Community Centre
Kylie
Todd
Steph

That'll do for starters.

Brilliant. Thanks Rousette RIP Anne, you'll be missed.

Throughout that scene I was thinking, how on earth are they going to end this and the writers came up trumps with that line from Peter Smile

AnneEyhtMeyer · 21/01/2015 20:06

Grin Chip.

Just saw Ken's tribute on the NTA awards. Very moving.

" he's a loony and she's a man " - brilliant Grin. Corrie is missing a female with the great withering put-down. I thought some of Beth's relatives at the wedding showed potential so will be interesting to see if any of them turn up again.

Pastamancer · 21/01/2015 20:18

I think the kindest thing would be to just do away with Simon now. He has lost so many people that I don't think there is enough therapy in the world to save him. Only Ken and Leanne would miss him.

cleanmachine · 21/01/2015 20:31

Deirdre deserved a full montage at the NTA. She's done some wonderful scenes they should've shown them. Annoying to see kym marsh say in the front sobbing. Shes only been in the show 2 minutes and people like ken and rita who knew deirdre all her life are remaining dignified. Cant stand kim.

Roussette · 21/01/2015 20:35

clean I was going to say exactly the same! Rita looked very moved but kept herself under control.

Pastamancer · 21/01/2015 20:35

I imagine they probably would have done more if there had been more time, it was a bit short notice unfortunately. Agree about Kim though.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 21/01/2015 20:41

I agree about Kym Marsh. Making it all about her.

Blanche said Liz's job interview was for prostitute I collapsed laughing.

babbas · 21/01/2015 20:59

Bloody kim Marsh. No class at all, this isn't about you kim.

SignoraLiviaBurlando · 21/01/2015 21:16

Ah, found you!
Sorry a bit late, but yy, Corrie scriptwriters who read these threads, yet again - please get rid of

Anna
Owen
Gary
Faye
Gavin
Yasmeen and her entire extended family
The Community Centre
Kylie
Steph
her bro' - whatshisname???
Andrea

Pastamancer · 21/01/2015 21:21

Michelle, Michelle, Michelle, Michelle. She has to be the first to go, I even prefer Andrea to her. I am happy to move to Manchester and play the part of the future Mrs McDonald

Theshedofalfredogarcia · 21/01/2015 21:21

You forgot Les Dennis SignoraSmile

Southeastdweller · 21/01/2015 21:37

I agree there should have been a montage. People have been doing their own montages on YouTube which have taken less than a day so I don't feel it was unreasonable for someone at ITV to have done one within 48 hours.

The ITV 2012 documentary, Deirdre and Me, is repeated on February 3rd.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 21/01/2015 21:42

Agree, South. It would have been better than Ken on the autocue.

Loved the Eastenders dedication to the 'Wetherfield One'.

EachandEveryone · 21/01/2015 22:14

I thought the Eastenders thank you speech was lovely.

SoleSource · 21/01/2015 22:59

Doesn't David Platt ever see or hear from Martin his Father?

Coumarin · 21/01/2015 23:53

Squoosh "It was a barge" Hmm

Grin I love the AA meeting scene. Deirdre and Blanche are brilliant in it. Perfect comedy delivery and timing.

"Hi...er...Ken..."

"I'm not totally comfort-ab-le with your halitosis."

Anne will be very sadly missed by millions.

differentnameforthis · 22/01/2015 07:23

This made me really annoyed. Kym has been in the show since 2006, and I am sure she is grieving just as much as others who ave been there the same time, longer etc. But what you are saying, because she hasn't known her as long as Bill/Barbara she isn't allowed to grieve?

Is there a time limit on relationships before you are allowed to grieve for a loved one?

differentnameforthis · 22/01/2015 07:25

Bloody kim Marsh Bloody hell. We all grieve in different ways. I am grateful for my friends who supported me today when I broke down over a friend who I lost recently, after only having known her for as long as Kym has know Anne.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 22/01/2015 07:31

I've just watched the last three shows for the crash, but had missed a couple of werks before that, what's going on with Steph?

differentnameforthis · 22/01/2015 07:32

Having a crack at her characture, moaning that you might not like her as a actress is fair enough, but to tear apart how she is handling her grief at losing a friend is just unbelievable.

hildasmuriel · 22/01/2015 08:15

I think it is difficult to judge the grief of others. Many fans who never met Anne Kirkbride would be sat there sobbing so I could understand why Kym would be. Other people grieve differently so I agree that it is not really fair to criticise her on this.

Totally agree on the montage bit. Haven't got up to the Eastenders bit yet but sounds like a lovely thing they did.

whoknows Steph is pretending to be pregnant because she found out Gavin is not Gavin but Andy, a friend of the real life Gavin. They were all set to tell Les Dennis when he announced that any slight shock could kill him (not actually the case with that heart condition as I have a relative with it, it's strenuous exercise that causes issues) so they ended up telling him Steph was pregnant when Les Dennis asked what they were going to tell him. Confused now Grin.

Roussette · 22/01/2015 08:36

I just think she could have held herself together a bit more at a very public Awards ceremony.

I remember a funeral of someone very close to me after a tragedy - a person at the funeral who barely knew him was sobbing and almost wailing, it was too much for us, the family. There is no time limit on grief and it is not exclusive, but sometimes, just sometimes you have to hold it in. But that is my view only. I have been to very sad funerals where it is almost painful in my effort not to break down in floods of tears.

Anyway, I digress... I didn't watch the coach crash last night, I just couldn't face Corrie without Deidre in it. I know she's been on a break and isn't in the current storyline but there's going to be a huge gap and I wonder how the scriptwriters will deal with that...
