Oh those are good suggestions cjwoof! Anthony Andrews would be great. Would Richard Armitage as the brother fall for Molly as well and when of course she has to reject his advances, would he go all brooding and glowery? And maybe, he and CJ end up wrestling in front of a fire like in Sons and Lovers....

apsara03 · 13/12/2014 18:32

400 times -we need SPO to work out the average number of times we've all watched it !
I think our suggestions for parents more realistic than fb group. I agree his father would be army too. I'm sure in the hall of the house the camera pans past a commission framed on the wall -it's got crossed swords -CJ or hi dad's?
ah yes sean bean as mellors -gosh that's few years ago!! So glad they didn't stick to Lawrence' description not have someone with an auburn beard - that led to me getting the sharp dvds -though nothing close to the utter obsession interest in an actor's career.
whoever said something about reign being tacky. I think I make you right. My first thought was that BA is better than this. I hope he's not directed to over act, though I guess he's bills to pay like everyone else.

Nickel45 · 13/12/2014 19:02

SPO sounds like we're all missing you on here ... Come back to us (even briefly!) after your r&r.

Oldest out at cinema party, littlie watching tv ... Lovely .... I reckon five more minutes before the tiredness hits ... Roll on bed time!

Richtea19 · 13/12/2014 19:04

When I was out today I did a bit of christmas shopping and found myself drawn to a beautifully soft leather jacket in Whistles. I never look at leather! I'm going from Tesco stag pants to expensive Whistles leather jackets, it's the transition fro OG to Reign!

Ilovelblue · 13/12/2014 19:06

apsara I said I thought Reign seemed a bit tacky. It somehow doesn't seem right when Americans try to do English stuff, especially historic things. Was the other actor we saw English or American doing an English accent?

Had a friend round delivering presents this afternoon. I knew she was coming and was finishing wrapping up other Christmas presents when she arrived with OG on DVD. She seemed quite taken and was asking who MD gets in the end "the posh one or the Welsh one?" I think she hoped I was going to offer the DVD on loan but she can think again, I'm nowhere near decompression yet!!

Richtea19 · 13/12/2014 19:17

ilove I have to be honest when I watched the link that icemist posted for the whole episode of Reign, I had the sounds down until I got to BAs bit! I don't have time to get into another drama, multi season episode program! But what I did listen too at the beginning seemed a bit naff! But very happy to see BA in leather, frilly blouse and cutlass and sword !

icemistOBE · 13/12/2014 19:19

The other actor is Sean Teale- that's who BA followed and vice versa that made me jump to the conclusion it was Reign that BE would be in Grin He's a british actor - used to be in Skins www.imdb.com/name/nm4148614/?ref_=tt_cl_t9

Richtea19 · 13/12/2014 19:28

Oh yes icemist he is rather gorg too! In fact I was rather in awe of all the cast. Very beautiful, tad jeleous !

icemistOBE · 13/12/2014 20:34

Watching Ep 3, I do love this ep- jealous CJ am waiting for zombies now ....

Ilovelblue · 13/12/2014 20:38

My favourite clip at the moment is when Molly arrives in the restaurant in Bath. I can't decide if it's because I know I'm going there in a couple of months or whether it's because he kisses her, albeit just on the cheek (they are in full view of the rest of the people eating in the restaurant after all). When my friend appeared this afternoon, I insisted on winding episode 5 back a bit so that she could view the restaurant scene. I told her I was going in February but made out it was more coincidental than that I had scoured the internet to find out where it was filmed!

cherin · 13/12/2014 20:38

Back to civilisation, so much that on my way I managed to get some spectacular bargains at tkmaxx (it is Xmas after all and kids are growing and if I can spend 10£ for ski gear instead of 90, of course I do it ;-)

CJ father: sorry, the only fatherly figure I can think of is that hunk of dad of Indiana jones ;-) far too old now, it'd need a tardis to work...but I think Sean Connery would be good. And BA should take it as a compliment! :-)

Ilovelblue · 13/12/2014 20:45

My view on this scene has really changed since I first watched it because it actually made me cringe first time round - it all seemed rather false and it was a shock to see CJ in civvies!

This must sound really, really mad but when my friend turned up this afternoon, we were reminiscing about people we had worked for years ago and she reminded me I had once worked for an ex-army major. How the heck I've managed to forget about this during all the CJ excitement, I have no idea. Well, I suppose I do know because he was a complete b*stard so I have clearly erased all memories from my mind (and it was 20 years ago). I have worked for various ex-RAF men, including a Flight Lieutenant, Wing Commander and Air Commodore and then the retired Major popped up. Let's just say his attitude was typically chauvinistic and assumed all women were there to be ordered around...... and he hoped for certain extra curricular activities after 5pm! It is one of the reasons I despised the CJ we saw in the first episode. I cannot believe I had forgotten all about him. Fortunately, I asked for a move - extra curricular activities not really being my bag! I think I only worked for him for about 3 or 4 months.

God, this sounds like some weird confession but I assure you it's all true.

Richtea19 · 13/12/2014 20:52

cherin you've come back to us! You survived the non wifi party! Love a bit of TKMax, good if you have an eye for rummaging. Sean Connery is a yes.

Wish I could watch Ep 3, xfactor in our house.

icemistOBE · 13/12/2014 20:56

I have x-factor on tv (muted apart from when Take That were on) and OG playing on laptop. I have also messed up, hubby on work do and I forgot to get myself some wine!! So my idea of a nice night with a glass of wine watching CJ/OG has gone out the window. a mug of coffee (sadly not rosabaya) isn't really the same

orphan · 13/12/2014 20:57

Agree that Reign doesn't look like a 'quality' historical drama series or in the slightest bit accurate, but who cares about accuracy if it means BA gets to wear leather? I'm hoping icemist will make a compilation of BA's scenes so we can just concentrate on what matters!

pixieg1rl · 13/12/2014 20:57

Got the fire going, ep 5 on DVD and a big glass of winter Pimms on the go. Lovely.

ilove how horrible to have had to be in that position. I suppose it is traditionally a very male led environment and especially 20 years ago. I am sure it is very different now. My eldest son is in the air cadets, he would like to join the RAF after uni? Hopefully?. There are as many girls as boys and I would like to think the young boys today would have respect for women and treat them as equals. Many years ago pre.DH. I had a job in the City working for a graphic design company. My boss was a bully. Fortunately for me not in a sexual way, but he always put me down and made every day uncomfortable, I even got shingles and was unwell for a long time. Ramberling now, but you have brought back to me my past!

cjwoofwoof · 13/12/2014 21:01

Orphan I'm liking the thought of Richard Armitage and CJ wrestling over Molly. CJ should win of course, but not before they're stripped, bloodied and very sweaty.

orphan · 13/12/2014 21:04

ilove bet you wouldn't say no to extra curricular activities with CJ! And you'd probably be happy to start them before 5pm!Xmas Wink

Richtea19 · 13/12/2014 21:07

cjwoof meant to say earlier the two hunks from Strike Back have to be in the line up! Only if they get naked.......

orphan · 13/12/2014 21:10

Well CJwoof as far as i recall, the wrestling scene in Sons and Lovers took place in the nude...(in the film at least).

orphan · 13/12/2014 21:11

Really would be Battle of the Bulge.

orphan · 13/12/2014 21:17

ilove it's strange isn't it what memories the mind can suppress? Perhaps, you could look on watching CJ over and over as helping you to rid yourself of the horrible memories! What were the RAF men like? Were they equally chauvinistic?

icemistOBE · 13/12/2014 21:18

Naked wrestling! Now there's an idea... GrinGrin

galaxy99 · 13/12/2014 21:38

Have stayed focused, alert and off this thread. I needed to put some bloody effort into my Christmas shopping, with an almost successful mission. Icemist your OBE is so deserved. I didn't think BA and Tudor costume would be a good combination but was pleasantly surprised although nothing beats CJ in fatigues.

DH and DS have been watching Atlantis, one of the characters turned into a zombie, I was in hysterics as all I could think of was SP Officer's fanfiction. I had to blame the wine, if only they knew Grin
