richtea professionalism is our byword. We even offer a completely free monthly checkup once you've signed up with us. CJ can rest assured that if his measurements change in the slightest, we'll be aware probably before he is!

Nickel45 · 10/12/2014 10:24

Of course ... SPO is actually Santa, of course you have to priorotise getting pressies out to all the kids! Silly us!! Wink

cjwoofwoof · 10/12/2014 10:35

I wish SPO was Santa then he'd know what we all wanted in our stocking come Christmas morning...

icemist · 10/12/2014 12:16

spo I'll message you the login details for the Fan Fiction account and you can then add to it yourself. It is pretty straightforward once you've done it once. It's on my laptop so will sort it later

Will miss you on here! Its definitely r&r I hope and not the start of decompression!

There is a new chapter from klipdoctor, might have to postpone latrine clean now, any excuse!

cherin · 10/12/2014 13:26

I started watching the BBC documentary on iplayer...ahemm...crude and eye opener...

Richtea19 · 10/12/2014 14:43

Another great chapter from Klipdoctor.

Ilovelblue · 10/12/2014 16:44

Had two really funny OG moments today - have to share. Was asked to take photos for our company magazine earlier on of about a dozen youngsters who have just started work with us. I think the eldest was only 21. They lined themselves up in a particular place but were busy talking to each other and not taking much notice of me. How difficult was it not to call them cockwombles and marshall them into orderly lines? It would certainly have got them sorted out!

Also went out for a team Christmas lunch and we were talking about the ratio of normal:weirdo staff in the building. (Trust me, there are some oddbods). I stated a fact that in our part of the building, we are all relatively normal compared with other areas and my boss said "Define normal or is it easier to define abnormal?" Oh, that took me back to episode 3 when Molly returns from R&R and is talking to CJ about being glad to be back in Afghan. Clearly, I said nothing to give the game away but I have a feeling I blushed. Fortunately it was quite warm in the restaurant and so I probably escaped with my fantasy undetected!

orphan · 10/12/2014 17:09

Just got back from a long, leisurely lunch with dp, followed by an attempt at Christmas shopping. (Saw a man in combats and it brought home just how well CJ fills them.) Am finding it really hard to focus up on present buying and whilst I've got quite a few things for my daughter, I need ideas and inspiration for stocking type fillers for 18 year old son. Any suggestions anyone?

Like seeing how brilliant a medic Molly has become in the klip doctor, but still wish he wouldn't write her as saying things like 'fank you'! I hope Laurielove hasn't forgotten the My Man stories as I'd really like to read more of those. So if you're still keeping tabs on this thread, Laurielove, get writing please!

Ilovelblue · 10/12/2014 17:14

orphan I too enjoyed klipdoctor's latest but I agree about the accent. What made it worse this time is that he made reference to the fact that only occasional East End words came out in her voice now. I can't quote the line because it was on my phone and I am now writing this on my work PC!

Off to a Christmas market shortly. Hope to have edited my Molly/Bashira story by the time I go to bed - effects of mulled wine permitting.

Nickel45 · 10/12/2014 17:27

Hee hee, I had a CJ moment too ... Was writing an appraisal thing and said this person was really good at digging in when need be ... And worse was that I couldn't even think of a better way of expressing it! Then speaking to my boss (who I have resisted calling bossman [out loud]) about some work we were querying "I think I make them right"... Are these phrases way too ingrained in my brain now?!

I agree about the 'fank you', klipdoctor was doing so well with not doing that as well! Maybe we can allow him a little lapse if he keeps writing, I do like his stuff.

I'm off to a Christmas fair tonight too ... Bit taters, wrap up warm everyone!

Richtea19 · 10/12/2014 17:45

It's so funny when you have OGisms and can't think of a better way to express yourself. I say things now without obviously thinking!

Agree re Klipdoctor and the "fanks" etc, although when i read I change that in my mind anyway.

So proud orphan that you taking operation bulge on to the streets. I will be dropping off DS1 to air cadets soon and its a "greens" night, so I will have the opportunity to check out the Flight Sergeant, would be wrong to look at the cadets!!!!

I also have a christmas night out with the gym girls, none of whom have watched or know anything about OG, although there will be other people there I don't know, so I might test the water and drop in a few OGisms on the way. Driving duty tonight, as I am saving myself to Friday night (big one!).

apsara03 · 10/12/2014 18:21

I like the way klipdoctor writes -do much better than some of the mills and boons stuff but agree than the "fanks" grated.
Just grabbing 5 mins to myself. Others are eating and I'm off for Xmas meal with my book club, who know about how OG brought back all the navy stuff but have no idea about how obsessed I am. Apart from one, who fortunately thinks a bit of escapism is healthy Smile
Finally had time to watch the clip the someone posted on the latest thread. BA definitely more CJ like than on the Devil's Whore even with arran cardigan.
Some top BBC bloke mentioned OG on feedback on radio 4 -saying how successful it had been, especially with younger audiences (that old mantra again) still if they are acknowledging its success, hope for second series. ...
enjoy your Christmas events everyone who is our tonight Xmas Smile

icemist · 10/12/2014 20:25

evening...is everyone off voting tonight?? Grin

been looking at my canada maps in work today, trying to figure out which of the mountains BA might be on...

Hi ice, no I'm here busy lurking after a day with a very grumpy 2 year old. His nursery has an annual visit from Santa that has 90% of the kids sobbing by the end of it! At least they looked cute in their reindeer & Christmas pudding outfits, even if their little tear-stained faces told a different story!

elsie3g · 10/12/2014 20:34

As an aside anyone watching Masterchef? That chef is more like Christian Bale than Christian Bale is these days...

cherin · 10/12/2014 20:57

Nah, but had hard day at work now and still trying to persuade DS2 to close his little eyes (really)....breathe in, breathe out...

cherin · 10/12/2014 20:59

But I just checked votes at radio times, the gap ps down to 0.2%!!! Really, someone must have spent day voting for OG....was it SPO???

icemist · 10/12/2014 21:06

will be all those who pulled a sickie Grin

I'm back from the frozen streets, it's cold out there! But lovely festival. Some very disturbing looking stags in one of the shops, but too busy (and embarrassing) to take a pic. Kids still awake, I'm supposed to be working, hey ho, another long night!

orphan afraid I can't help with ideas for your 18 yr old ... I'm guessing money in a stocking doesn't really work!! What are 18 year old boys into? Or maybe I don't want to know?

In a delaying getting on with my work kind of way, now going on have a look at masterchef ... And then Bear Grylls ... Now, he's quite nice too ... !

Rhubarb01 · 10/12/2014 21:31

Evening!

OG verusus Sherlock now 50/50

Rhubarb01 · 10/12/2014 21:33

OG now ahead of Sherlock!

Sounds like a horse race!

klj78 · 10/12/2014 21:36

Waterloo Road "stole" some Our Girl music tonight! Also if Waterloo Road can keep going for so long, I'm sure there is a case for OG!

icemist · 10/12/2014 21:38

I went to bed last night and Our Girl was in front, this morning was 2% behind. Gonna be close

I've been thinking again about the discussion yesterday over Tony Grounds interview and the mention earlier by aspara about the "young" audience for OG. We are all complaining that they're ignoring the wider audience who like it but I suppose we might be part of the problem. We're not supposed to like it. We're supposed to like multiple series of Call the Midwife which is fine at 8pm on a Sunday with the family around but I could live without it! Admitting that your 'young' drama it appealed to lots of older people suggests that they haven't targeted it correctly. I wonder if the show was commissioned as part of a tick box exercise - make sure you produce a drama for the youngsters - tick. I think politics has a lot to do with it and as someone else mentioned the personal opinion of those commissioning. I've also said before that overseas markets matter and OG's subject matter is tricky in some countries. It's actually quite annoying that the BBC can't just admit that something is popular no matter who the target group was supposed to be, accept the success and just do the job they're bloody good at!
