Original thread here, disappearing scarves, grey-haired doppelgängers and twin theories abound. Has anyone done a spreadsheet yet?

Why would the Romanian family want him back anyway?
They get rid of a baby and that's that.

Besides, Rini would have been found out something by her brother.

reem1 · 28/11/2014 20:18

I think it's mum too, remember the scene by the pool, she was distraught but still she said to Tony 'I saw him' - I always thought that she referred to reality. Few strange words she said: 'Oliver was happy' ( when choosing picture for police), apologising to Tony for him having to take paid leave from work, long evening walks, going to the journalist to find out what Tony knows (why not speaking to Tony directly or ask Mark to find out, why not contacting police in France to ask for updates). I think she is eaten by guilt that's why she appears distressed.

reem1 · 28/11/2014 20:51

Although what confuses me is that Emily was so relaxed reading book when Tony called to tell her that Ollie was missing. If she was some how involved wouldn't she be at least more agitated? However it is possible that she knew what happened, why and by who.

LillianGish · 28/11/2014 20:55

Maybe Ollie is not Tony's child so Emily has taken him and given him to his real father. Why would she do that though - unless she thought he was in someway at risk so it was better for him to be with his dad even if she didn't see him again? Would explain why she is still so distressed and why she has tried to replace him with Greg's child. Rambling again - agree with what someone said - this is the best thing that has been on TV for ages (and this thread is second only to the Archers thread for me!)

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/11/2014 20:59

right have read 330 odd posts on old thread and another 175 on this one

blondes brain explodes

you are a busy lot plotting

thank gawd for mn as im having trouble understanding the story, and certainly didnt think the boat was a dream/mental image in a confused old ladies brain

even tho tony bashed in ians brains on the boat, is he def def?

is that why wife went nutty and in a home?

do we know if mollie is dead (killed by ian) or just dissapeered

is vincent related to ian, sonor step son and lady in home his mum, hence why he showed the picture and why vincent didnt blab as scared his mum/ians wife would be hurt

do we think mollie is vincent, or the drug adict/teacher who got throat cut

so ian was stealing little boys and abusing them, hence the videos but he didnt take ollie

seems ollie must have gone with someone he knows, he wouldnt go off with a stranger

that makes more sense to me winter and in the care home she is dreaming/remembering her cruise

also the limp - seems only in the recent episodes , def not in 2006

LillianGish · 28/11/2014 21:15

But boat scenes clearly labelled present day - and have a slightly dream like quality to them. They are not on the boat - she is in the nursing home imagining/hallucinating she is there.

BingoBonkers · 28/11/2014 21:15

This thread has me totally lost on what is actually going on in the actual programme!

OttiliaVonBCup · 28/11/2014 21:15

You have to try harder. Grin
The episode starts with Indian Ocean, Present day.

SolomanDaisy · 28/11/2014 21:29

Is it possible that Ian's murder was a fantasy scene? There have been two already.

reem1 · 28/11/2014 21:29

And Vincent ends up on the boat when he visited her, it's clearly only in her mind

reem1 · 28/11/2014 21:30

Oh dear what if there were more fantasy scenes that we took for reality!

reem1 · 28/11/2014 21:32

Monique for example - meeting a beautiful artist and ending up in her bed could be a dream (it is for many Grin)

LillianGish · 28/11/2014 21:35

I think the fantasy scenes are quite obvious as they have a slightly heightened, slowed down quality to them.

plus3 · 28/11/2014 21:44

Gosh page 4 of thread 2!!!

Watching them again(!)

  • scarf : wasn't wearing it, but when Tony & Baptiste go to to the mayor, Baptiste says Oliie was wearing the scarf the day he disappeared....as long as his bag went with him so did the scarf. No red herring (maybe)
  • Emily apologising : she had previously walked out of the cafe (couldn't deal with the normality) and arrived back saying 'I'm sorry, so sorry' think it is more about them trying to be being a cohesive couple ...

That's as far as I have got Smile

Quadrophonic · 28/11/2014 22:00

But how can the abduction be planned?

They randomly broke down in a random town.

It must be an opportunist!

reem1 · 28/11/2014 22:07

quadrophonic not if Emily was in anyway involved, perhaps a phone call saying: we are in this town, staying at this hotel, Tony took Ollie swimming, oh and here you have his scarf he loves it/can't sleep without it.....

reem1 · 28/11/2014 22:09

Now I'm suspecting Emily's dad! Not sure why though.....

ArsenicSoup · 28/11/2014 22:10

Bad acting? Grin

reem1 · 28/11/2014 22:14

ArsenicSoup Grin same for Emily's mother and Emily herself - must run in the family

LillianGish · 28/11/2014 22:20

Emily does seem to have given up on the hunt - taken James as a substitute son, given away Ollie's toy while Tony is the one who won't let it lie. Returning to my original musings I'm wondering if hospice man was perhaps Ollie's real father so Emily has taken him and given him to him which why her dad thought Ollie was at hospice. Ludicrous as my theory is I'm sure the real denouement will be equally ludicrous and not in anyway related to any of the prime suspects (ie Romanians, Victor, Ian etc)
