Original thread here, disappearing scarves, grey-haired doppelgängers and twin theories abound. Has anyone done a spreadsheet yet?

It's the fort type thing that overlooks the town. They had a picnic there while waiting for the car.

ssssm · 04/12/2014 08:40

I was thinking, given all the water metaphors, could Ollie have drowned in the pool and Ian is imagining/pretending he was taken? Or is that silly because his body was never found? And silly because we accept that the boy in the video was def Ollie so he was still alive at that point?

ssssm · 04/12/2014 08:50

Sorry somethingfunny, hadn't refreshed thread when I wrote this

EauLittleRougeofBethlehem · 04/12/2014 08:50

Sadly, I can't claim to have come up with the water theory, fitting though my name is Grin (and rather appropriately, Eau Rouge is actually in Belgium...)

I watched episode 6 again last night with DH and noticed a few more things that people were asking about.

The embargo on Ian's house expired so wasn't lifted by anyone. Georges had something to do with it in the first place. He could be incriminated on the tapes but I think it's more likely that he knows about Ian and wants to keep it quiet because Ian kept the bribes coming.

Baptiste's reaction to the tapes is a bit odd.

Mark believes Emily's crappy lying about where Tony was on the night Ian was killed. Worst cop ever? Or is he trying to cover for the pair of them? He says he can't believe she would lie for Tony- does he already know something about their relationship? Or have I just got too much time on my hands?

My DH tends to make jokey comments all the way through TV shows. Last night was no exception, but he did make a very good point; the video of Olleh in the house shows him waving ('Look, he's having fun- he's waving!'- thanks, DH). Who was he waving at? He couldn't have known he was being filmed, he was just a tiny bit in the background. So he must have seen someone to wave at them.

ssssm · 04/12/2014 08:53

Araminta is the spoiler on the other thread a real spoiler or just a good theory? Don't want to know if it's genuine insider info

EauLittleRougeofBethlehem · 04/12/2014 08:56

I thought it was a real spoiler but it might have just been something that's already been mentioned and I forgot about it Blush. There are quotes from interviews and whatnot. I think the actual whodunnit is going to be very closely guarded, like ITV did with Broadchurch.

ssssm · 04/12/2014 09:04

OK Eau I think I'll avoid the thread until curiosity gets the better of me, which may well happen before Tuesday! (Are you spending all your waking hours rewatching? Hope the ending doesn't let you down - Christmas will be ruined Sad

SolomanDaisy · 04/12/2014 09:10

The 'spoiler' on the other thread is just taken from a TV Guide 'and in the next episode' thing, like you'd find on the Sky guide. It doesn't give anything away about whodunnit, but if you don't want to know anything at all about the next episode it would be better not to read it.

SolomanDaisy · 04/12/2014 09:15

I think Vincent's info is just going to be about Ian being a paedophile. Since Ian arranged a false alibi for him, he probably assumes Ian killed Ollie. Which might still be true, but I don't think so.

diddl · 04/12/2014 09:50

Well if we believe what people are saying, Ian, Vincent & Sieg all had nothing to do with Ollies disappearance.

So who else is there?

Fayzie1 · 04/12/2014 09:55

Maybe Alex Duchamps really is Ollie? He features in 2 episodes.......just a thought

EauLittleRougeofBethlehem · 04/12/2014 09:59

Mark
The Romanian gang
Sylvie and Alain
Georges
Greg
Tony and/or Emily
Emily's parents
Laurence
Mary
Molly

Or any combination of the above.

Any more? I can't believe it would be a new character, it must be someone who's already been in it or has been mentioned. But not Baptiste.

SomethingFunny · 04/12/2014 10:00

Regarding Mark and the ÂŁ15k. What do we think happened there?
The £15k is likely to be the wedding fund. Mark not happy about it being spend on the hunt for Olleh instead? He is not a very supportive fiancé whatever way it is looked at - he has no interest in helping to find Olleh and doesn't seem to even wamy to let Emily talk about him. Possibly due to "what happened last time" (as Mark said) when I am assuming she had a breakdown.

I have no idea if it is realistic that a new partner of a parent of a missing child would be so unsupportive. But I think it is sad. He is denying/ trying to suppress a huge part of who she is. Similar to this, I know a couple where the husbands child with his first wife died in childhood. He used to have pictures of her up and talk about her all the time. New wife has got him to take down the pictures- I don't think they even have one now- and he never speaks about her anymore.

SomethingFunny · 04/12/2014 10:02

I wonder if Baptise was involved with Charmartain case?

And/or has any links to any previous child abduction cases. He seems to have been brought in as the expert so I wonder what his past is...

diddl · 04/12/2014 10:04

Emily's father has just died.

Maybe he left money?

Mark just said that they didn't have 15,000 & she said that they did.

he didn't then say that she couldn't have the money.

R4roger · 04/12/2014 10:09

i am pretty sure she took the money earmarked for their wedding

McButtonwillow · 04/12/2014 10:09

araminta after this weeks episode I've been wondering if Baptiste could be a baddie, it would make a good twist.

SolomanDaisy · 04/12/2014 10:10

If Emily was thinking straight she couldn't possibly stay with Mark after he said the day Ollie went missing was the best day of his life. I wonder if she is only with him for James? Or because of the possibility of having another child.

diddl · 04/12/2014 10:17

I thought that it was the reporter who said that Ollie going missing was the best day.

funambulist · 04/12/2014 10:19

Mark said it too. I agree with the previous poster. If you love someone the worst day of their life can't possibly be the best day of yours.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 04/12/2014 10:25

No, I think Mark said it (maybe as well as Malik?). Hard one to spin really - it was the best day of my life because I met you... shame your son had to go missing for that to happen Hmm

My money is still on Ian and an organised ring. Ian himself wouldn't have snatched Olleh, but someone lower down the chain, I would have thought. Wishing I still worked at the beeb to get a sneaky preview, the waiting is too much!

OttiliaVonBCup · 04/12/2014 10:26

Unless Mark means something completely different in connection with the best day of his life and it's not about meeting Emily that day.

Maybe the two boys did get mixed up and James was supposed to be taken so Ollie being taken instead of him makes that the best day of Mark's life.

It's a bit of a far fetched theory though. Even I don't believe that.
Grin

OttiliaVonBCup · 04/12/2014 10:27

And it still does
not change the fact that if you love someone then the worst day in their life cannot be the best in yours.

NannyHat · 04/12/2014 10:48

I think it will be someone who we met in the first episode, the masked man looks like the man who knifed rini. So someone who has links to the Paris gang who can issue orders.

We know the mayor is corrupt, he could have links to the gang and his brother is Alain.

Mark is a British copper but we don't know what sort of crime he investigates, maybe international trafficking so his son was targeted by the gang but took ollie instead.

Baptiste knew the undercover copper Leon so he has links to the gang.

We still don't know what Tonys job was, although I don't think they were particularly well off, their car was run of the mill.

Any of the other police persons could have links to the gang.

I don't see how Malik Suri would be involved with a Paris gang

lem73 · 04/12/2014 10:50

I think Mark wouldn't want to hand over the money because he knows they'll get ripped off.
