Original thread here, disappearing scarves, grey-haired doppelgängers and twin theories abound. Has anyone done a spreadsheet yet?

Eau [grin}

I was wondering what form a second series would take.

It could deal with the fall out from this series? Eg Ollie and his family's adjustment if he is found / not found / confirmed dead.

It could deal with unanswered questions from this series. Eg finding the children on the 53 tapes and ensuring justice for them, the search for Molly Garrett.

It could deal with Baptiste's other cases, either pre-retirement, or other cold cases, particularly if these have not been handled properly due to police corruption.

It could have an entirely new cast and just deal with another missing person case.

What do you think?

meandjulio · 03/12/2014 20:59

I thought Vincent looked really like the 'aged' picture of Ollie on the journalist's wall, which utterly freaked me out until I remembered that Vincent really is too old to be Ollie.

isn't he?

And when Mr Nettoyage went to the house and a man in a tweed? jacket walked past him with his back to the camera, was that Ian?

AuntieStella · 03/12/2014 21:00

"Vincent really is too old to be Ollie. isn't he?"

Yes of course he is, he was an adult in 2006 already on the sex offenders' register!

OttiliaVonBCup · 03/12/2014 21:10

I really don't see a resemblance between Vincent and the grown up mock up of Ollie.

FayeFruitLoop · 03/12/2014 21:16

Yes it def can't be that Vincent is Ollie but could it be that Vincent and Ollie are related somehow?

What relatives could they be to each other? Can't be brothers...

I don't think Baptiste is from the town. Isn't he "the legend" from Paris who comes to take over the high profile case? When he arrives at the station Laurence says that she is keen to make a good impression and introduces herself (or is introduced by Ziane) as if she's meeting Baptiste for the first time.

WastingMyYoungYears · 03/12/2014 22:07

Grin at Julien being a bee keeper.

I keep thinking about this series ConfusedGrin. It really has some great actors in it, and a good story too.

I think the evidence that the bad policeman found was a photo of Mark and his son (who was actually the intended target). I'm not sure about a lot else though Grin.

Flibbertyjibbet · 03/12/2014 22:17

Thanks for the warning araminta.
Personally I can't understand wanting to know what happens as most of the enjoyment for me is waiting in eager anticipation for what will happen next.

I am wondering if the last episode will go back the the beginning and we will see everything from a different perspective, maybe with victor narrating, as he has done a sort of narrating/thinking aloud thing a couple of times.

mewkins · 03/12/2014 23:00

But there are no real spoilers as none of us know anything other than titles and a few casting details. And these could be designed to lead us on a wild goose chase anyway!

ClapAlongIfYouLike · 03/12/2014 23:23

Perhaps Vincent is actually olleh's (or James's????) dad? I do agree that there is a certain resemblance between olleh and Vincent. I watched next week's (spoiler) video and it seems to me that Vincent was also racing to the pictures of little olleh and the aged picture. It is obvious that Vincent being on the sex offenders list means he could not possibly be on charge of a child/children. My wild guess is that Vincent was in a relationship with Mollie and that their child was adopted. I am not quite sure if that child was James or olleh ( or both?). But I think somehow the plan was to snatch back the child. I think the was Mary+Ian's plan and he got the Romanians to do it but they somehow mucked it up.
The blood in the basement might be Vincent's as he met with ian just after tony had beaten him up...

AuntieStella · 04/12/2014 00:02

Flibbertygibbet I agree.

I think the final episode will show the abduction scene from a neutral point of view (as opposed to Tony's) then show the abductors and follow them and Ollie away from the bar.

My guess is that there will be inaccuracies in Tony's version; we have already seen he lies to minimise his culpability (to Emily, after alibi request) and the programme uses dream sequences for things which exist only in a character's head (Emily, Mary) but which are later resolved by showing a plainer version.

reem1 · 04/12/2014 00:09

ClapAlongIf YouLike love the Vincent and Mollie relationship theory !

ArsenicSoup · 04/12/2014 00:19

Ooh, good thinking. The amount of time that actually passed before he noticed Olleh's absence really affects the range of possibilities.

BluJewel · 04/12/2014 03:51

I like how the person who came up with the water theme is called Eau (water in French). It makes sense but I think you may have a bias there Grin

meandjulio · 04/12/2014 06:46

I'm not hoping for a 'happy' ending but I do hope that we find out what happened - though it will be an unbelievably miserable episode, let's face it.

SomethingFunny · 04/12/2014 07:52

The truth about the first episode will make a fantastic final episode, I do hope you are right!

I have been trying to focus on the whodunnit part and not think about the little boy as that is too upsetting. So I am a bit worried about the last episode in this respect. Surely they can't make it that upsetting?? Actually I don't know how what happened to Olleh can be anything but upsetting...

I like the idea of the second series called The Found about what happens next. I don't think there are enough dramas tht deal with the aftermath of events from the human side. I think that is really interesting. I doubt it will be like that though. This one needs to Conclude.

SomethingFunny · 04/12/2014 07:56

I definitely think water is important! Agree with Eau!

Maybe Tony didn't loose Ollie for just a second, maybe it was for longer than that (whole run up to goal and celebration). Maybe Ollie just fell into pool and drowned. Maybe Tony disposed of his body to cover up for himself (like he did with Ian). maybe the whole reason Tony is still searching is because it gives him a link to Emily still (as the whole reason he lied in the first place was so he wouldn't loose her). Maybe all the other evidence has been planted by him and the other people paid off.

Not sure I actually believe this theory or can make it actually work (and would find it a little disappointing).

Wellthatsit · 04/12/2014 08:01

Auntie Stella, you could be right about Tony's version being inaccurate. There are 9 minutes unaccounted for aren't there?

In episode 1, they make it look like Tony just lost track for a second, but maybe he started watching the match, and Ollie wandered off.

Although this doesn't explain how Ollie ended up in the house, unless we go back to the theory that it was an opportunistic crime, which seems less plausible as time goes on.

lem73 · 04/12/2014 08:03

I haven't read the whole thread so I don't know if this has been said already. Could Ollie have been taken instead of Mark's son? I'm thinking Mark is a bent cop and this crime syndicate meant to kidnap his son. It's just too much of a coincidence for me with the two boys being a similar age. Mark is too quiet as well.
