I think the Mayor assumes that Ian Garrett did it, so isn't interested in the investigation.

I think there is another interpretation of the final episode title. We need those spoiler reveal things that they have on digital spy!

I saw the title and also found it interesting that the BBC chose to feature a picture of Tony standing in water...I wonder what this tells us?

Ian's body was hidden in water.

Tony and Olleh were swimming right before he goes missing.

Emily always cries in bathrooms (and once in the kitchen) and almost chucks herself off a bridge into the river.

There's a metaphor there somewhere but I"m not very good with metaphors.

Zidane picking up evidence from the scene has to mean he's connected somehow doesn't it? Or was that just to have something to give the journalist and he would have handed it in later?

Just saw something a few posts back that I don't want to see.

It's episode production that I am greatly enjoying and whilst loving this thread I will have to leave it if I see another spoiler post.

Theories etc and discussing previous episodes ok but not spoilers.

Eau you're right. There's loads of water.

The Channel - crossed and recrossed by many of the characters: Tony, Emily, Ollie, Mark, James, Vincent, Baptiste and his wife.

When Tony confronts Vincent, Vincent is standing in the lake fishing.

The police drag the lake after Ollie goes missing.

Vincent frequents the pool and lake area.

The dream sequences with Ian and Mary on the Indian Ocean.

Tony's sunlit and happy swim with Ollie being contrasted with his desperate dark swim to shore after sinking Ian's body.

There is also a theme of parenthood. Almost all the adult characters (Tony, Emily, Mark, Ian, Mary, Baptiste, Ziane, Laurence) are either shown interacting with their children, have photos of them prominently displayed or refer to them. I think that Malik is also a father.

Tony meets Laurence for the first time in 2014 by the town's river and Baptiste and his wife also meet there to talk about their daughter.

Zidane had thrown his phone into the road and could have just been picking bits up when he was seen by white van man.

I'd have begged stolen or borrowed 15k if someone promised info about my missing child. Emily s wedding to mark will be off regardless of whether the money was their wedding fund. She knows he blocked tonys calls, lied about promotion, blamed her for his prospects being damaged by starting a relationship with her, and said they hadn't got the money.

Anyone else finding Vincents voice quite hypnotic when he is doing his sort of narrative bits?

I wondered if the envelope given to Baptiste last night contained a tape showing mark.

Mark on a tape? So mark is involved in the ring??

Ethe envelope looked pretty flat A4 to me.

It was dropped off at the police station by a person unknown, and Maliki believed that it contained something so important it was worth committing GBH to stop Baptise seeing the contents.

We do not know if that belief was well placed. It might have been the drain evidence (though I think that is unlikely), it might have been something relating to Charmartine (meaning it came from Malik, but why burn his source so dramatically? Bad move for an investigative journalist) or it might be something completely different, but Ziane reacted as he did because he was very anxious, nay paranoid, by that point and simply could not chance it.

Has anyone checked if the computer generated Ollie looked like the kill a mocking bird boy at all?

I agree about the names of future episodes and cast members but how do you differentiate between a theory and a spoiler? Unless some us have inside info, acted in it or is one of the script writers we don't know what happened and it is all just theory/discussion. I really enjoyed joining this thread as it has been great to be able to discuss something so gripping with so many people.
