Original thread here, disappearing scarves, grey-haired doppelgängers and twin theories abound. Has anyone done a spreadsheet yet?

The fact that Tony's son was missing and Ian was a pedophile would be taken into account during sentencing.

Tragedy and provocation do not give you a free pass to commit crimes but do serve as mitigating factors.

Admittedly, with Tony's previous history of serious assault a judge might consider that a lengthy sentence was required in order to protect the public. The fact that Tony took steps to cover up his crime wouldn't go down well either.

It is also possible, given Tony's hair trigger temper, that he needs psychiatric help, which he might have been given had his killing of Ian come to light.

I don't think this ends with a happy ending reading the names of the next 2 episodes Hmm

FayeFruitLoop · 03/12/2014 13:52

Hmm Auntiestella and bakeoffcakes so we think there is a chance that Ollie and Vincent are related?

FallonColby you mentioned a while back about Malik asking Vincent why he feels able to talk now. I think it's because V now knows that Ian G has been declared dead. Ian has obviously had a hold over Vincent all those years.

Clawdy · 03/12/2014 13:57

Ooh I wouldn't mind watching "The Found" !

MarthasHarbour · 03/12/2014 13:59

Such a loooong thread - with some good musings! Smile

I am also wondering:

The Mayor/Police Commissioner guy said to Laurence that she had to find out how much money they were 'wasting' on the search and what they were doing. Why then did he immediately lift the embargo on searching Ian's property?

I also think that they will find bodies of children at that house. Haut de Gaurenne springs to mind Sad

EauLittleRougeofBethlehem · 03/12/2014 14:00

Vincent was scared of Ian because he threatened Vincent's mother, who may or may not be Ian's wife.

Shock at the title of the last episode but I won't say any more because it's a spoiler of sorts.

On a happier note I am able to post photos again, so here is one.

Did anyone think it odd that Mark told Emily they just didn't have 15000 euros, and then after a brief pause, she said oh yes we have.
Why does he think they have no money, but she does. Where did it come from?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 03/12/2014 14:10

I thought they were choosing wedding flowers so from a wedding fund?

FayeFruitLoop · 03/12/2014 14:10

Dingit I think that referred to their wedding money?

mewkins · 03/12/2014 14:10

Marthas, it's my understanding that the mayor just wants to find out what exactly they are investigating as probably it may uncover some of his underhand dealings! Also odd that the embargo was lifted... he must realise that looking at ian's property could uncover some nasties. ... but them perhaps french jurisdiction only allows mayors to put embragoes on for a limited period and then they are overruled.

FayeFruitLoop · 03/12/2014 14:10

X-post sorry

AuntieStella · 03/12/2014 14:11

"Where did it come from?"

I thought it was their wedding fund. They didn't actually say so, but left it as implication as they'd been looking at a very bridal range of flowers.

reem1 · 03/12/2014 14:12

dingit I thought she meant the money they were planning to spend on their wedding

AuntieStella · 03/12/2014 14:13

Lots of x-posting there!

Various actors have said that the ending will be rooted in the events of the first hour. I won't post the title of ep8 in case there are posters who don't want to know yet. But it fits.

cupofsneeze · 03/12/2014 14:15

I thought the embargo had been lifted because Ian was now officially declared dead after the 7 years Confused

funambulist · 03/12/2014 14:23

I wonder how Mark feels about the wedding money being given to a gangster. Does this mean the wedding is off?

I don't want to know the title of episode 8 or which actors appear in the remaining episodes.

reem1 · 03/12/2014 14:28

I don't like Malik and I think there might be more to him....

  • he talks about his dad leaving a lot of unfinished business
  • in almost all his home/office shots there is a picture of a child (girl) behind him
I don't like the way he got involved in the case and he might have some shady contacts - he manage to get hold of Moroccan policeman number - he was blackmailing him to get info and his actions were obstructing investigation. He got details of Bourg and passed it onto Tony ( stirring up the need to follow that line of enquiry) but when that backfired due to Bourg's alibi he moved on to Tony. He got evidence from Ziane but never handed it over.... Maybe the book is a cover up, or maybe he knows who did it and his actions aim to mislead investigation in order to protect real abductor. I think that if it was not a family member that took Ollie it must be a female (perhaps relative of Malik, a girlfriend from the picture).

Or perhaps he is a mad psycho looking for fame like a fireman-arsonist!

Chefpepperjack · 03/12/2014 14:29

Has everyone seen that Starz trailer.
Changed lots of ideas I had!
Can anyone link to the BBC clip/trailer/episode details? I'm going round in circles !

reem1 · 03/12/2014 14:30

I meant a girl not girlfriend from the picture, perhaps a sister

EauLittleRougeofBethlehem · 03/12/2014 14:31

I don't think Malik is necessarily evil but I think he is so obsessed with being the one to break the story that he will do anything, including hiding evidence from the police, to ensure he is the one that gets the credit. He may even make out in his book that the police are inept to make himself look more clever, when really the investigation has been hampered by him.

mewkins · 03/12/2014 14:36

I've not seen the starz trailer yet...

funambulist · 03/12/2014 14:37

I'm trying to resist watching the trailer as I prefer to find out what happens when watching the programme.

mewkins · 03/12/2014 14:41

Oooh I watched. I will say nowt.
