Anyone watching?

OP posts:
HaveToWearHeels · 07/12/2014 21:44

and that would have been his official age rather than real age.

barkingtreefrog · 07/12/2014 21:49

Why did she leave her brother? Why is she now getting in the boat when she knows what happens?! No!!!

Aladyinsane · 07/12/2014 21:54

Wow. What a powerful scene. I almost cried, you could feel the huge sense of love between the two.

I thought Tom might have to die though.

TillHammerZeit · 07/12/2014 21:57

I'm still confused about Tom's age and why that song was so important. I should really try to concentrate on it,rather than watching it while talking in three different online forums at once.

scarffiend · 07/12/2014 21:58

Robert Baratheon is a bit of a softy, isn't he??

barkingtreefrog · 07/12/2014 21:59

Really liked that.

The song was found by his wife to get rid of the ghost.

Aladyinsane · 07/12/2014 22:00

They should have panned left at the very end and shown the picture of Isha in the street in India holding a little boys hand. That would have been really creepy to somehow show that she now had him with her forever.

I thought that was great. Still don't understand the age thing though. I feel like I probably should.

Pennies · 07/12/2014 22:01

A few questions:

  1. When and how did she start haunting him?

  2. Why did he say he'd been a 10 year old boy all his life. Was he a ghost too?

SauvignonBlanche · 07/12/2014 22:01

I'm still confused.

Pennies · 07/12/2014 22:02

Oh, and did he kill his wife then or did Isha kill her?

HaveToWearHeels · 07/12/2014 22:05

I agree, if you had had dreams about drowning in a lake would you get into a boat with a man that murdered his wife !

meltedmonterayjack · 07/12/2014 22:05

Also confused. The way I understood it, Tom pushed his wife downstairs because if she'd sung the song all the way through, he'd have lost Isha. So he chose Isha over his wife.

But I still don't know if Tom died when he was 10 and that they were both ghosts.

barkingtreefrog · 07/12/2014 22:07

His parents died when he was 10. She heard the news in London and got on a boat to find him. She died when it sank, she'd been haunting him since.
He killed his wife because she was about to get rid of her, and he loved them both.

barkingtreefrog · 07/12/2014 22:08

I don't think Tom died when he was 10, she was just keeping him alive as she couldn't let him go, hence his failed attempts to escape.

Yes but she wanted him with her - look at how she was holding him in the end. So surely she would have wanted him dead rather than alive because then they could be dead together with none to come between them?

YY about not getting into boats with blokes who kill their wives. generally a no no for me.

meltedmonterayjack · 07/12/2014 22:18

But how could Isha keep Tom alive long after it's possible for a person to be alive? Are you sure he wasn't a ghost too?

colleysmill · 07/12/2014 22:20

Dh and I were just arguing about the ending - came on here and both gone "ah yes" followed by dh saying"when in doubt consult the Oracle" which in deed mn is.

I was bloody terrified throughout all three episodes - the swing not moving had me hiding this week

Clawdy · 07/12/2014 22:27

Not sure why Isha tried to drown the little brother...didn't Tom say she would never harm a child?

Pennies · 07/12/2014 22:29

I'm guessing she wanted him to sing the last verse, so she had got more prolific in her killing to try and provoke him into singing it so she had to stop. (at least I hope that's the ending coz she scared me and I want there to be something good about her). She looked quite happy once he started singing it.

barkingtreefrog · 07/12/2014 22:30

My theory is that when Tom said "she promised to look after me always" looking after him meant keeping him alive. I don't know how she did it but then I don't know how she killed the social worker or care worker either!
When they find him by the caravan she's kept him alive, he said she wouldn't let him go.
Maybe the only reason they're together at the end is because he's in the water, given the water theme running through the whole thing.

Pennies · 07/12/2014 22:33

On an aside it must have been bloody freezing in that water. God knows how the actress playing her kept so still. I'd have been shivering like crazy in no time.

barkingtreefrog · 07/12/2014 22:33

I agree, pennies, it was almost her pushing him to do it, swapping himself for the boy.

Did anyone else not recognise Julia Sawalha until seeing her name in the credits?!

SwedishEdith · 07/12/2014 22:41

Loved this but still not sure I know what happened. Why hasn't Tom got a history of women who get close to him being killed in mysterious circumstances?

Clawdy · 07/12/2014 22:42

What I don't understand,or have missed, is where and with who did Tom live with from the age of ten if he was orphaned and Isha drowned? Was it mentioned?
