Getting quite close the the start of the next thread - Vol 5. Who'd have thought it!!!

Rhubarb01 · 24/11/2014 19:39

aspara I was beginning to think that if we worked on a chain story with any success we might eventually move onto to writing our own collective version of Series 2 which might have to suffice if a proper series is never produced.

I'm still willing to have a go at the chain story but I haven't been keeping up with fan fiction so I've not a great idea of what's been covered and what hasn't. I think myself, orphan and SPO have said we'd be prepared to write something. Anyone else? I have an idea/draft of a first paragraph going way back to the end of Episode 3 when everyone wanted to know what conversation takes place after the face holding in the hospital takes place and before the "I can't keep my hands off you" bit. I know that Klipdoctor must have written something about it but I don't think I've read it. Alternatively, would we like to try something completely different which is post Afghan or way in the future? Also are we trying to be serious or just write for laughs! (Being us, I shouldn't really ask that question, but my first draft is a little bit serious and I would hate to make everyone cringe!)

pixieg1rl · 24/11/2014 19:50

Is it just me or does that petition site come with an advert for what looks like a straight jacket?

Sorry rhubarb I was one of the willing readers, not writers! I'm rubbish at narratives: they always end up unintentionally funny.

On the sat nav idea: CJ would definitely have to say once you'd completed your journey and were about to switch the sat nav off - "Come back to me..." Would be so much better than the rather patronising sounding woman I've got at the moment!

orphan · 24/11/2014 19:55

aspara 3 measurements?! Did you hear that richtea? That sounds like a lot of work for our tape measures. I'm quite excited by the seat measurement. I'm not quite sure how to do that one. Definitely a two hander.Grin

icemist · 24/11/2014 20:09

I found a tape measure last night and put it in my handbag. You never know when it might be needed Grin

Love the idea of writing from the end of ep 3. I think it and after the bath date and Molly's 2nd tour is what I'd love to read.
Also like to see Molly's diary - although it's probably not something her character would have done, it would be interesting

Apologies Orphan I remember now it was monopod who proposed it. Gosh its hard to keep up

cherin · 24/11/2014 20:30

Indeed!

Just wanted to say that besides the morning jog, DS1 also spontaneously volounteered to mop the floor of a few rooms (including the little pest's!!) and tidyed up his den fairly well. I didn't even need to use the "a job shared is a job halved"!!!! It must have been a magic planets' alignment....nevertheless, it was good. It takes a fair lot to impress me, and he's becoming an excellent boy :-)) I need to give him the speech! (Scoff, he already got)

Richtea19 · 24/11/2014 20:37

Rhubarb would love to read your bit of a story and from the end of episode 3 is a great idea.

Not sure about the petition? I am sure Tony Grounds is mighty pissed off with the millions of tweets he gets eveyday and I don't want my name associated!!

Apsara that is the exact CJ camo top!!!!! I could be tempted to get one and print off a CJ face and attach it to DH!!! DH does have nice tanned forearms too!!!. Just think, I could practice our measuring tactics!

orphan. Seat measurement is from front (top of waist band) to rear. It would have to be a two handed process. Unless you tucked tape measure into waistband (low rise of course) and then crawled underneath to pass measure to back. I feel I should do a drawing with annotations !

cherin · 24/11/2014 20:41

I volunteer to do the drawing!! Live, only!! And double checking!
(Measure twice, cut once. So I have been taught)

SPOfficer · 24/11/2014 20:44

Evening all! Just catching up after getting my barnet chopped this evening. Barber said he has less and less to work with these daysSad. Like those combat tops! Must hunt out an army surplus store. Yes happy to have a go at a story. My efforts also end up being comedy oriented I must admit but think it would be fun to have different writers take an initial idea in different directions depending on their style.

Richtea19 · 24/11/2014 20:44

Yes measure twice, cut once! Drummed into me from my OLevel Needlework! We must be precise when it comes to a seat measurement!:)

orphan · 24/11/2014 20:47

I'm feeling that we should try both methods - the two handed approach and the crawling underneath. We wouldn't want to leave anything to chance. Plus, measure twice and once more for luck!

SPOfficer · 24/11/2014 20:48

Goodness do be careful with those scissors ladies. One slip and the stag could be a doe!

icemist · 24/11/2014 20:48

All measurements should be taken twice and double checked. I don't mind getting down in my knees to check Grin Wink

Richtea19 · 24/11/2014 20:50

cherin can you draw a Stag being measured?
Fig1. A two person meaurment and
Fig2 one person laying underneath Stag????

orphan · 24/11/2014 20:56

Yes, that would certainly be hard core art.

orphan · 24/11/2014 21:00

And of course, I imagine CJ would have to stand in the classic legs akimbo pose for the measuring...

firegirl · 24/11/2014 21:02

Evening everyone. Have just been catching up. The idea of writing our own sounds great but I don't know if I'll be any good so I will pass, I have ideas but I think they're better off in my head! However I'm intrigued to know what happened after episode 3 between the two of them, so if someone's going to fill us in re what exactly was said, where and when re waiting out etc I'm looking forward to it. Klipdoctor mentioned it a bit in captain's log but a bit glossed over for my liking.
apsara I LOVE that you found CJ's actual top. It would be great if I could buy it for DH to wear but he knows about my obsession and would flatly refuse. Alternatively I'd love to have it for myself and like you said spray it with aftershave and hug it or even hang it in my wardrobe and hide in there and pretend to be Molly... at which point I think DH would order that straight jacket pixie found so no CJ top for me Sad.
Regarding the petition, I'm still in two minds about a second series, I feel a bit like others have said earlier that I'm not sure how it would work and that the first series sort of wrapped the story up in a way but I yhink I'll sign it anyway. I do agree that the relentless twitter campaign must be incredibly irritating for those on the receiving end, if it were me it would go as far as putting me off commissioning a new series, it's not even as if they're coming up with any reasoned arguments to support a new series apart from pictures of CJ with pink hearts round him, meh! AIBU?

galaxy99 · 24/11/2014 21:04

Evening everyone, just having a catch up now. Have loved all the limericks and poems but I am (stag) pants at writing things like that.
As CJ drives us all crazy a CJ satnav would be the perfect gift. As you got close to your destination he could say "you're nearly there"

Rhubarb01 · 24/11/2014 21:12

OK everyone - here it is only an initial paragraph (slushyish and slightly serious). SPO you're right it could be very funny to take the writing off in a completely different direction to the way it initially appears - so go for it, whoever is willing to try.

As the hospital bed carrying Sohail disappeared through the double -doors of the ward and the urgent voices of the medical staff gradually became fainter, Captain James raised his head to look directly into Molly’s eyes. He still held her face in his comforting hands. He wanted to stay like this, to hold her here and keep her safe from harm but at the back of his mind the nagging concern that had restrained him all these months would not be silenced. He slowly, unwillingly, released her, his eyes never leaving her face. Her beautiful green eyes, shining with fresh tears, gazed questioningly at him. She was looking to him for an answer to the bewildering events that had just unfolded.
“Dawes,” he smiled, hesitantly and bit his lip, a habit of his since boyhood and a small outward sign that he was uncertain of himself.
“We need to talk.”

cherin · 24/11/2014 21:15

Or for younger people before the driving test: I want you to be brilliant!
(I suspect that'd work only for female drivers....)

firegirl · 24/11/2014 21:17

That's a pretty good start Rhubarb, it's made me want to read more!

icemist · 24/11/2014 21:23

ooh Rhubarb, can we have more please?

Richtea19 · 24/11/2014 21:25
