It's been an emotional couple of days; DH has been a royal arse. So I am really glad to come on here and laugh at all your antics!! Watching Ep5 while emotional is not great; I'm blubbing at CJ being shot and medevaced.

I was thinking again this evening about all the (deliberate presumably) parallels between CJ's and Smurf's lines. Promising to make sure Molly gets back safe, 'perfect', "becaused I love you". Then sad because Smurf can't hold a candle to CJ and him being the 'ugly' identical twin.

Is poster number one orphan? If not she should get a prize anyway for the best posts ever!! Orphan you are so bonkers, I love you

Elsie, I confess to having read all the OG fanfic stories that I can get my hands on; my current faves are Reunion (KathyCastle) and chezziegirl's stuff, but there have definitely been others. Just work your way through the fanfiction site, ha!

Perhaps the winner should give an acceptance speech remembering everything that has helped to make their achievement possible. Would it be bad form to prepare something in advance or should the winner give the impression of having had no idea they might win, act incredibly surprised and humbled and give a rambling off the cuff speech!

Hi elsie. I've tried not to read too many of the fanfiction as I've ended up getting confused with fact (the series) and fiction (these stories) and then also get mixed up between the authors. Some as you say are absolutely appalling and considering that some of these people see themselves as writers, their English is pretty dreadful. (If they can't spell, have they not heard of spellcheck?)

I reread Captain's Log yesterday and quite enjoyed it until he went totally "off piste" as it were and I think we all seemed to be of the opinion that what let him down was the way he made Molly speak. I think my favourite is still Laurielove. There was a link to another fanfic author posted on the Our Girl Facebook page too which I read earlier. That was a bit strange - in it, Molly was the one who had been shot, not CJ.

Ouch, just pulled half my toe nail off. Said to DH, think I might gonna need a plaster, instead of helping he just looked confused and wandered off?!? Really, how can he not understand that?!?

Been trying to find some anagrams but officially suck at that!

Monopod sorry it's been emotional recently, I understand though. Its obviously not just me (and this has also been said before) but this prog has had a truly profound effect on me and I've woken up. It's made me reassess and try and take a grip on life and job (a few weeks of decompression and I think i'm getting somewhere roughly in the right direction).

I don't do forums and stuff so it's quite a revelation, a: what a group of lovely people you all are and b: what a bunch of nutters we all are, obsessing over some fictional story (that can't be too far from the mark about reassessment and making a new start and those early romantic ideals!) ;-)

Thanks elsie; I'm ok :) I was reading something in the Daily Fail today about this author who dumped her husband because she outgrew him and he couldn't match up to the hunky protagonists in her novels. Oo-er.

I must confess a dark secret in that when DH is being seriously arsey, I entertain the thought of leaving him. I quickly drum some sense into myself though. Still, it's been comforting thinking about CJ while devising ways to insert pins into my voodoo doll

Oh and something else!! You know how many of us have been inspired by OG to live life differently. Well, I don't normally drink alcohol. In the past week, however, I have had wine and prosecco. And I bought more at the supermarket today. Ladies and SPO, you have officially driven me to drink.

Oh dear, am seriously worried that some of you think I may get the dubious honour of most frequent poster...

elsie, monopod not no doubt others I can't tell what a relief n reassuring it was for me to discover you wonderful bunch of cockwombles. I thought I was losing the plot the effect OG was having on me, still working through stuff. Just wish I discovered the thread sooner then I wouldn't spent October thinking I was going nuts.

Threadneedle, thanks for your Fan Fic recommendations. I read one you suggested ages ago and it was very steamy!!!! I will check out your suggested ones. I do get taken away with them and forget what is BBC official, Fan Fic and also what we have made up!

apsara we're all mad, but we came to accept it sooner than you obviously! It was fun on this whilst OG was still on TV (I think I came on here after the fourth episode) but it's been even more fun since! We're almost up to volume V as well.

I often wonder what happened to that person who started it off by saying how rubbish the programme was!

Ooooh orphan like he idea of a clicker. Must put that on my Christmas list! And if you happen to be the top poster, as ilovelblue says be proud!

Finally for those of you with disappointing hubbies, spare a thought for my DW. Her man has spent most of the day counting posts and setting up spreadsheets!

I think it's rhubarb for president, over here! But orphan is second in chief (NVM was leading until not long ago, what happened to her? Was she stabbed on her way back from newham, or something??)

Anyway. Arsing husband here, too. Must be the weather, or the period of the year, or the amount of viruses lingering around kids and sleep depriving everybody. Buggers! Tomorrow is another day...

Oh yes cherin, I have been wondering what's happened to NVM recently. Has she gone to ground?

Back to work tomorrow so may not be able to monitor this through the day like I've done this last week. Quite enjoyed my two days recuperation - definitely better than watching daytime TV!! Thank you everyone.

This thread is amazing, haven't had a chance to check in all evening and you've moved on in leaps and bounds! Poetry anthologies, TV adverts, it's taken me a while to catch up. Just in case there was any misunderstanding about my previous post (sounding ridiculously serious here) the acceptance speech was a general suggestion. Regrettably, (Jumps for joy!) I know that I will not be the winner on this occasion. I may just have done a little analysis of my own to establish this fact (desperately counting my own posts for the week!). I suspect that both Orphan and Icemist are in the running for this honour but I have not gone so far as to count everyone posts - that is not why I have been absent for long periods today - it was the visitors,honestly!

Right, here is the digest of statistics for week 5 (as of 23.30 today)

Total posts - 688 that's 13% down from last week but still much more than week 1. Figures helped by above average activity Wednesday through to Saturday following a slow start to the week.

In terms of individuals, we saw 30 different contributors to the thread this week including two new posters I think.

Of these 30, 10 individuals posted something every day. These were:
