I agree, mandy214, I think he's interested in her from the start (one of my favourite bits is that look they give each other in the photo line up) and she would get picked on for her point of difference, and he might be giving her a bit more of a hard time because he's trying to compensate for his nascent, probably subconscious, interest in her.

PassTheSherry · 13/11/2014 22:01

Yes Ilovelblue hope your procedure goes fine on Tuesday, and it's the perfect excuse to do lots of OG research. Looks pretty likely this thread (or rather it's successor) will still be up and running. Doesn't seen that long since the beginning of this one!

Smurfingreat · 13/11/2014 22:03

Regarding women in the front line/combat roles, (I am going to out myself as a sad twat who will watch anything here) - I'm also a massive fan of the Aussie drama Sea Patrol.

It's about the crew on patrol on board an Australian Navy warship, with a female second in command and a fairly mixed gender crew in different roles, non of which are particularly gender biased. Most people think it is utter tripe, but I love the camaraderie of life on board (miss my time at sea) and there are some pretty hunky sailors. Blush

icemist · 13/11/2014 22:03

A week! I started it a week ago. Crikey we talk a lot

Yes, this thread has been going for only one week! To create a new one, is it just "Start new thread in this topic"?

icemist · 13/11/2014 22:09

Yep. I started the new one then popped the link for it into the last post- makes it easier to follow.

smurfingreat then I'll join you in twat confession to admit that I watched all of the Unit, US drama about special forces. Unfortunately, even there in the very last series (4?) they introduce a female member to the crew, but she's more "honorary" then an actual member, and she mostly works on the back line. Despite being brilliant. That rubbed me up more than a bit.

I think I said before that I work in a very male dominated industry, I haven't got a problem with it and in general I may even get some extra credits because of my "exotic nature" :-))) To be honest, I even had a good experience is Saudi Arabia, where I was told nobody would listen/talk to me and they'd only address male colleagues...but actually they did quite the opposite!!

Dunno what I was going to say with it. Kiddo woke up with bad dreams. Sorry!

SPO the guard-stag is fantastic!!! MumsnetGotTalent prize!

orphan · 13/11/2014 22:19

stressybird I listened to that drama and was in the car at the time. Just glad I wasn't driving cos crying isn't helpful in seeing the road.

orphan · 13/11/2014 22:21

SPO can def see the potential for a comic strip there

Richtea19 · 13/11/2014 22:28

SPO brilliant drawing, more hidden talents on this MN thread. Comic strip, mini cartoon series and so much more potential for merchansing. It will be appeal to the younger fans who aren't into dressing up dolls, bookmarks or ironing board covers!

What side is the sea patrol on? Sounds interesting.

Managed "I'm all over the shop tonight", mainly because I've been faffing about on the ipad reading all the links when I should of been doing other jobs!

Smurfingreat · 13/11/2014 22:37

Richtea, not sure if Sea Patrol is shown in the UK anymore, I saw it on one of the dodgy repeat channels on freeview originally. I have got the last couple of series on DVD from Ebay.

It's not an OG style quality drama, but until OG came along it was my choice of bored, home alone, keep me out of the pub and keep me amused when DH is away viewing. (That is a real tv category in my life).

Smurfingreat · 13/11/2014 22:39

My DH has now changed from asking "How is the Hammersley? (ship on Sea Patrol) to how's Capt James? when he phones home. Grin

Richtea19 · 13/11/2014 22:41

Thanks Smurfin, we have sky so will have a search. Never get to watch TV with DH, unless it's the news, panarama or newsnight! I record everything then can watch when his not about or when I'm ironing ( need that CJ cover soon!)

Richtea19 · 13/11/2014 22:44

Recorded The Fall tonight on BB2, Jamie Dornan as a serial killer. Totally gorgous, but no CJ ??

orphan · 13/11/2014 22:46

The amount of ironing I seem to be doing at the moment CJ would be permanently combats off Smile

orphan · 13/11/2014 22:48

richtea disturbingly, Jamie was wearing a check lumber shirt in The Fall tonight... Made me go off the Bath scene slightly.

Richtea19 · 13/11/2014 22:52

Oh can't wait to view tomorrow. Brilliant program, tried to get my dad to watch tonight, explained it as serial killer who paints nails of victims after he has killed them. Not surprisingly we watched David Attenborough !

Smurfingreat · 13/11/2014 22:54

Barman in my local was wearing a checked shirt tonight, have to say I did look closer than usual. bad Smurfing, especially on DHs birthday!

cherin · 13/11/2014 22:55

Guys, the Xmas advert made me remember an amazing movie a saw years ago. I hope they released with English subtitles, because it won an Oscar...m.imdb.com/title/tt0283509/
No Man's land
One day that you feel like using up lots of tissues, give it a go!

orphan · 13/11/2014 22:56

I was rather annoyed cos even whilst watching another gripping prog, I was thinking of CJ because of the bloody checked shirt!!

Smurfingreat · 13/11/2014 22:57

Someone on a landlords forum I'm on just replied to one of my comments with "ditto Smurfing", is it an OG reach out? How do I reply without sounding like a nutter?

orphan · 13/11/2014 23:02

Has anyone see Lore, an Australian/German film, filmed all in German? It's about a teen German daughter of high ranking Nazis who leads her siblings across Germany in the immediate aftermath of WW2 and her growing understanding of what her parents have done. Based on a section from Rachel Seiffert's novel The Dark Room. Interesting to see something from the viewpoint of 'the other side'.

Rhubarb01 · 13/11/2014 23:24

I am beginning to develop some sympathy with all those other halves out there who have watched their DW's or DP's or DH's go through CJ/MD/OG obsession.

My DH seems to have developed an obsession this week for watching 'House' on netflix. We are only at episode 18 of series 1 and to my horror today I discovered there were 177 episodes available. I already have 'House' fatigue!!

Spartak · 13/11/2014 23:28

I love House! I could watch it for hours. It gets better as the series go on.

icemist · 14/11/2014 06:49

I watched the Fall last night. Hadn't before but Jamie Dorman is rather dishy.

Work today. Sure will be on part IV when I get home later.

Thank Crunchie it's friday -pretending I don't have work tomorrow
