Anyone watching , so far quite tense especially the music

OP posts:

I thought Ian was killed in 2006. Although time has passed since the disappearance, I am not sure it is more than a month or two.

And I think/hope the Artist wasn't random. It doesnt fit into the programe to be random. No one we have see so far has been random... I didn't notice the pictures on her wall, but they sound significant.

FallonColby · 26/11/2014 09:47

Just looked on IMDB and Monique is down to be in 4 episode so she must have a big part to play. Greg from the hospice is down to be in another, I bet he will be in the final episode.

RabbitsarenotHares · 26/11/2014 09:51

I had a thought last night - the two dream sequences we've had already (Mother by the pool and Ian's wife) aren't leading up to the whole thing being a dream, are they? Tony's nodded off in the car, and will wake when they reach their holiday destination... I do hope not.

Loved yesterday's episode, especially the framing element. Started drifting in the middle though. Think it should have been 8 45-minute episodes rather than 8 hours.

EauRouge · 26/11/2014 09:54

Oh thanks, I knew there had been mention of something happening in between the disappearance and the present day but I wasn't sure of the year or if they had show it yet. Has anyone done a spreadsheet? I'm confused.

rebelfor · 26/11/2014 09:54

James' mum was in last nights episode, towards the end.

BigglesFliesUndone · 26/11/2014 09:55

The boat thing was really good. DS said as Tony was smashing Ian's head - 'how is he, like, ALIVE?'

forago · 26/11/2014 09:58

I dont have a problem with Tony. I'd probably be rampaging around like him if somebody took my child.

OttiliaVonBCup · 26/11/2014 09:59

Ollie went missing in 2006.
Tony killed Ian a few weeks later, still 2006.

Something happens in 2009.

Present is 2014.

Molly is dead, killed by mistake.
Vincent is not Ian's son or indeed daughter, just part of a his ring.

Artist picked up Tony with intent.

The actress playing Emily can't act to save her life.

This is what I know.

RubMyLamp · 26/11/2014 10:00

forago thats exactly what I'd be doing too.

Am halfway through last nights episode.

funambulist · 26/11/2014 10:01

Did Ian actually say that Molly was dead? (Might have to rematch the episode.)

Tony says to Ian that when Molly disappeared she didn't just walk out of the house, Ian took her. Ian says that Tony shouldn't talk about "my Molly".

Ian's wife says to him (in the Indian Ocean scene) "Don't ever talk down to me. Not after what you did. To Molly. And not just to Molly…"

I'm not sure that Ian has ever admitted to killing Molly and everyone refers to Molly having disappeared, but not to her having been confirmed as dead.

EauRouge · 26/11/2014 10:03

Thank you, Ottilia, I need short sentences like that to understand what's going on Grin

I do think the artist is somehow significant, but how would she have known she would bump into him? The trip to Paris wasn't planned very far in advance, was it?

rebelfor · 26/11/2014 10:04

Tony called Ian a murderer after viewing the tape.....

How does he come to that conclusion?

(Ian didn't deny he was)

OttiliaVonBCup · 26/11/2014 10:05

I will rewatch.
I want to see where Tony meets Monique.

diddl · 26/11/2014 10:05

If Molly just disappeared, is it possible that the mother took her somewhere safe?

Or went away with her?

OttiliaVonBCup · 26/11/2014 10:08

DH missed the last two eps and spend all night last night asking questions. Only shut up when I threatened violence.

So I have plenty of experience in this.
Grin

But will have to rewatch because I did miss some mumbled bits while explaining.
Did Ian mumble?
Or was that that his head was being smashed that made it hard to listed to what he was saying?

funambulist · 26/11/2014 10:14

I've just rewatched the Tony and Ian confrontation.

Tony looks at the video and asks Ian if it is Ollie on the tape.

Ian tells Tony not to watch it.

Tony watches some more of the tape.

Ian says something like, see it's not Ollie.

Tony accuses Ian of being a rapist, (looks at the tape) a murderer and a pedophile. He says how can he believe that he didn't do to Ollie what he did to his own daughter.

Ian says that "Molly was a mistake. I didn't want… It just happened".

I guess that the implication is Molly was murdered by Ian but I wonder if we are being deliberately misled.

EauRouge · 26/11/2014 10:14

They all mumble. I spend every episode turning the sound up so I can hear the mumbling and then turning it down so the loud bits don't wake up the DDs. I think I've turned into my mother.

BitOutOfPractice · 26/11/2014 10:15

Who is Monique? The artist?

SolomanDaisy · 26/11/2014 10:16

I have changed my mind about the actress playing Emily. I think she is playing a woman who is very, very self contained, so she is constantly restraining herself. Last night she showed some small flashes of emotion that she rapidly controlled. I actually think she is playing that very well. I did think James might be Ollie, but I now think she is with the liaison officer partly because James is a substitute for Ollie for her.

RubMyLamp · 26/11/2014 10:17

Holy fuck. Just on the part where Tony pulls up the floor and sees the tapes.

funambulist · 26/11/2014 10:22

Monique is the artist who approaches Tony. You see him leaving her room the next morning. Monique is still asleep. There are lots of paintings on the wall of young children.

I wonder if Baptiste's daughter is / was mixed up the the Romanian gang, especially if they are dealing in drugs. Baptiste said that his daughter, Sarah was a drug addict and that it was his fault. I wonder how it is his fault?

Is Georges (police chief and Ian's "mate") mixed up with pedophile ring, turning a blind eye to them because the ring have something over him? Surely it wouldn't be normal to allow Garret to visit Tony in the police cell, when he's just been insisting that Ian is mixed up in Ollie's disappearance, so there must be some corruption there?

RubMyLamp · 26/11/2014 10:35

There's definitely some deep corruption in the police force.

OttiliaVonBCup · 26/11/2014 10:36

In Monique's paintings the girl looks pregnant.

Monique is also far too young to be Molly. Could she be Molly's daughter, Ian's granddaughter?

Still not too sure how she would stumble upon Tony just like that, but I suppose there always something we should suspend disbelief for.

BitOutOfPractice · 26/11/2014 10:41

Ah! I know about the artist, I just didn't catch her name

I think they met by chance

Trunchbull · 26/11/2014 10:42

I may be clutching at straws (and obsessed) but I just noticed on IMDB that Georges (police chief bloke who I thought was mayor) has the same surname as Alain and Sylvie (Eden hoteliers IIRC) - Deloix. Wasn't Alain only in it for a fleeting glimpse in the first episode? IMDB has him down as appearing in three episodes. I wonder if this has any relevance? Is IMDB generally accurate?
