anyone else looking forward to the 3rd series? has been a great run up to Christmas for the past couple of years!

OP posts:
2rebecca · 05/01/2015 22:45

I thought William had just changed an awful lot. Felicity seemed a bit of a bitch as well, a few snide comments from her at dinner.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 08/01/2015 00:23

Yes Gary's wife did look like she's hiding something. I reckon Gary's not all he's making out to be?

Celia is a horrid character. I hope Alan tells her it's over.

GreenShadow · 11/01/2015 22:47

They can't seriously have killed of Kate can they?

I know it's a drama, but there's just far too much happening in too short a space of time that it's just silly now.

(But I'll still be back next week to catch up with the goings on)

robotnikchair · 11/01/2015 22:56

It certainly did seem like Kate is dead with that cry at the end, or it could be the baby or Kate could have lost a limb?!

These drama writers sure know how to treat their characters harshly!

OddFodd · 11/01/2015 22:58

What was the story with the lock?

Celia is horrid isn't she. It's all about her. Vile narcissist

BackforGood · 11/01/2015 23:14

I too thought Caroline was awful to Alan, who had come to support her, despite her own mother turning her back.
He'd be better off going back to the farm and having nothing more to do with any of them.

Have to agree there's something very odd about the whole new found son and his wife.

Yup - I thought Caroline's elder son was a different actor - he looked nothing like the rather odd looking boy who was her son in the previous 2 series.

2rebecca · 11/01/2015 23:14

They're definitely Eastendering it if they have killed Kate off. They've already had 1 miscarriage, are they feeling that Game of Thrones is the way to go with killing off your characters one by one? There gets to a point when it becomes silly rather than enjoyable. It's been pleasantly lighthearted up until this series. Are they trying to make sure this is the last one by pissing off their viewers?

Instituteofstudies · 11/01/2015 23:23

They can't kill Kate off surely! Not on Sunday night telly?! I thought Caroline's elder son was a different actor. Surely no one can change that much.

They are really making Celia vile now. Self-pitying, selfish and mean.

Am hoping that Kate will survive and not be paralysed or something terrible. But that scream seemed to point towards her demise :(

ZeroFunDame · 12/01/2015 00:13

Yeah - teeny bit too much excitement there.

Why do I never receive two proposals in one day?Envy

FreakinScaryCaaw · 12/01/2015 00:34

Don't you Zero? I'm beating them off with a stick Grin

Yes it's all gone a bit silly tbh. But I'll still watch it, if only to find out what's behind the Gary story?

Tigresswoods · 12/01/2015 06:47

I knew it! I said something dramatic would bring them all back together!

I think the worst has happened to Kate & Caroline will be left holding the baby.

As for 2 proposals in one day, that's just bonkers & how can all the farm machinery constantly need fixing?

I think Gary isn't as nice as he's making out. But if a control freak maybe?

SoupDragon · 12/01/2015 06:57

I think the cry was well done as it could have been a sob of relief or anguish.

oncearedstar · 12/01/2015 07:07

I thought it was a good episode but the hour always seem to go so quickly. I had my suspicion about Kate as there had been no images of her with the baby. Also I think Gillian is better suited to Robbie and hope it works out but wonder if her killing Eddie will come back
Still unsure about the old guy and narrow boat is something going on there to be mentioned every week.
Apparently Greg the fathers baby comes in next week

Tigresswoods · 12/01/2015 07:25

Oh I bet that'll be to take the baby!

Also agree Robbie & Gillian should just get together. Not really sure what the blocker is there?

diddl · 12/01/2015 07:57

It has all gone silly, hasn't it?

i mean the idea was lovely, the pair of them meeting & marrying after so long, but it's clutching at storylines now!

BackforGood · 12/01/2015 10:54

Who's Greg ? Which father's baby ?

ZeroFunDame · 12/01/2015 11:06

I assume Greg is the (once seen) father of Kate and Caroline's baby.

So - Two possibilities with the new brother and his wife:

He may turn out not to be Alan's son. There's no proof so far - just a photograph and what he says. He may be a rich man who wants a family. Or his mother may have lied to the relative who told him. Or the relative may have been mistaken. In which case - if he's not related to Gillian - I thought they looked good together ...

Otherwise, if he really is Gillian's brother, his wife has set out her stall pretty clearly. And Gillian is clearly still open to offers.

But one way or another I hope the canal / lock / compensation / house sale issue can be miraculously sorted out now.

diddl · 12/01/2015 11:15

Well Alan did say that she had slept with Gary's mum "just the once(?)"

So unless she was seeing more than alan at the time..

BackforGood · 12/01/2015 11:35

Oh, right, thanks Zero - you have a good memory for detail! Smile

ZeroFunDame · 12/01/2015 11:41

Wish I did! I don't actually remember most of their names so could easily be wrong.

What I would like to know is whether Gary's mother was married or attached at the time of her fling with Alan. Either way, if it was "just once" then there's no reason to assume that she was not seeing someone else.

SoupDragon · 12/01/2015 11:52

I think it was said that she was unmarried and her husband married her knowing she was pregnant with another mans baby.

2rebecca · 12/01/2015 12:52

It won't have been just the once, that's just something people caught having affairs say, especially as she isn't around to corroborate things. Not that it matters how many times they had sex now. I thought Gary wanted Alan to have paternity testing when they met.
Agree that Caroline will have no rights wrt the baby if Kate is dead and Kate's family (can't remember why they're not around) and baby's father will be fighting it out between them. Can't remember how many weeks she was meant to be anyway.
Do they not have enough complications in the plot?

Frozenchipsareawful · 12/01/2015 13:00

zero, what do you mean about Gary's wife 'setting out her stall' ? I thought she seemed a bit odd myself, do you mean she might be gay too? I am not convinced he is Alan's son at all.. not sure why. poor Kate, I think she has died. I didn't take to the character but it seems harsh to just kill her off, if that has happened. Gillian should stick with nice Robbie, but have a feeling she will go off with John.. ! I can just about keep up but Dh is losing interest now with all these different people in it. It does seem more for the ladies this series.

ZeroFunDame · 12/01/2015 13:11

Chips It wouldn't have occurred to me had I not read this thread over the past few weeks - but people seemed to see a spark between Gillian and her new "SIL."

Certainly yesterday, given limited time to make plot points, they spent a lot of time on SIL's "no need for men" speech.

But it was a bit heavy handed so maybe they meant something else?

SoupDragon · 12/01/2015 13:18

I doubt it was "just the once" - didn't he have her photo in a box or something?
