anyone else looking forward to the 3rd series? has been a great run up to Christmas for the past couple of years!

OP posts:
diddl · 31/12/2014 11:01

I think that Harry (canal boat) is the GGF of Gillian's GS.

diddl · 31/12/2014 11:02

Yes the Caroline/Kate thing doesn't work for me either.

Kate seems oblivious to the feelings of Caroline's son.

Well actually they both do!

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 31/12/2014 15:28

Ah, GGF, that makes sense, I was thinking GF but then he's too old for that.

I am struggling to keep up with all the twists and turns, I couldn't remember whether Robbie was still with his girlfriend and was wondering why Gillian was going on dates if she was with Robbie now. All makes sense if he's still with her.

I'm also a little surprised that Gillian has the time and energy for her love life when she is running a farm apparently singlehanded, working in a supermarket and bringing up her DS and grandchild.

Do love it though!

oncearedstar · 01/01/2015 21:26

Anyone watched preview clip ?

Tigresswoods · 01/01/2015 22:08

Yay just caught up with S3 ep1.

I find the same sex relationship teacher thing a bit dull. It is 2014/15, are we still shocked about this. DS's head teacher is gay. She's in a relationship with one of the other teachers. No one cares.

Ujjayi · 04/01/2015 22:03

I have watched this tonight's episode and I'm not sure I can bear to watch any more episodes. Celia's miserable narcissism is driving me to shout at the tv.

Thought Cheryl's revenge was bloody funny though Grin

lemisscared · 04/01/2015 22:05

i struggled to watch this tonight. ujjayi you are right - narcissistic. , just like my mother. i don't like celia very much tonight

theliverpoolone · 04/01/2015 22:08

I was Shock Shock at Caroline at the end. Poor Alan. He should dump Celia and Caroline and go and live with the lovely Rupert Graves Grin

2rebecca · 04/01/2015 22:21

Caroline and Celia deserve each other. Caroline should have told her ex to sling his hook, if he bought half the house from them surely he has money to rent a flat and his son can visit him there.
Caroline and Kate just aren't remotely realistic as lesbians and are both self obsessed. Kate went ahead and had a baby 5 minutes after meeting Caroline and Caroline moved Kate in 5 minutes after separating from her husband and father of her kids. The kids and John should move in together and leave the 3 selfish women to stew together.
I hope Celia and Alan separate now, Celia seems to have no redeeming features at the moment and I agree that if she'd married Alan years ago she wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes on the farm and wouldn't have had a daughter as nice as Gillian.
Gillian should kick out the stroppy teenage mum. I agree that if she's going to work so she has spending money then she can join the adult world and spend it on childcare for her son.
I'm going off it as they're all so unpleasant now.

theliverpoolone · 04/01/2015 22:31

It's a shame. I seem to remember really rooting for Celia and Alan in series 1, with only a slight Hmm when Alan discovered she was a Daily Mail reader Wink. You would have thought Alan's niceness would rub off on her, but she's just got worse.

Ujjayi · 04/01/2015 22:33

Lemisscared - reminds me of my mother too. It's probably why I cannot stand Celia. Living with that level of narcissism is draining.

I was also surprised by Caroline telling Alan to go. Again, someone taking their anger out on those who don't deserve it.

Perhaps the writer believes having such flawed characters makes for realistic drama. It doesn't.

2rebecca · 04/01/2015 22:38

Celia encouraging Caroline's son not to go is worse than her not going. He came home from college so must have been intending to go to the wedding until he saw sulky fits were order of the day and stayed with granny.

2rebecca · 04/01/2015 22:42

I agree that if characters are unpleasant you stop watching because you stop caring for them. I stopped listening to the Archers because it all became too unbelievable and Eastenderified.
I don't now believe a "happy ending" would be to reunite Alan and Celia, he deserves better than her.
She can find a strict joyless presbyterian minister who'd never strayed because he's incapable of caring for anyone but himself and they can read the Daily Mail and tut at breakfast together.

theliverpoolone · 04/01/2015 22:46

Grin at they can read the Daily Mail and tut at breakfast together

stareatthetvscreen · 04/01/2015 22:50

hmmm i enjoyed tonights episode

i wonder if there is some back story re celia - start of dementia or something.....

lemisscared · 04/01/2015 23:08

nah - shes just an old bag

stareatthetvscreen · 04/01/2015 23:40

ha ha

Frozenchipsareawful · 05/01/2015 08:30

I was actually shouting at the TV last night at Caroline - turning Alan away from the wedding when he was always sticking up for her in the past. Caroline is so horrible, but i have met some teachers who are like this, go through education and never ever grow up! She is vile and her and Kate really deserve each other.
I hope Alan leaves Cecila to it now. None of them deserve him, despite his affair years and years ago. It does seem to be a real downer just now, lets hope it cheers up a bit.

Tigresswoods · 05/01/2015 13:15

I predict relations will get increasingly strained until a crucial breaking point. Probably Kate having the baby but more likely Alan having a health scare. It's also incredibly likely that these 2 things will happen simultaneously. Celia will come to her senses & happiness will return.

Frozenchipsareawful · 05/01/2015 15:04

yep Tigreewoods, I hope that her having the baby will wipe that smug know it all smile off Caroline's face... she annoys me so much, but guessing that's a good actress for you to make her like that, and she is a very good actress! poor Alan though. I cant believe he would have had an affair with any one , he is too nice.

2rebecca · 05/01/2015 15:40

Caroline has already had 2 children so having a baby won't be a shock to her and she can afford childcare.
I hope they don't get back together now.

reallystuckonthisone · 05/01/2015 16:36

I know Caroline was really horrible to Alan at the end, but I'm still most shocked by Celia. How can a woman hear that her staying away from her daughter's graduation hurt her so deeply, but still refuse to turn up to said daughter's wedding because she's angry at her husband for something he did 50 years ago. It defies belief. She is a selfish, horrible, narcissistic old cow.

diddl · 05/01/2015 17:36

Celia doesn't deserve him & Caroline is a bitch.

He was the only one on Caroline's side re the wedding!

oncearedstar · 05/01/2015 19:53

Really changed my opinion on Caroline after last nights episode and haven't been too fond of Celia this series,
Is John trying to form a relationship with Kate's unborn child as she's expecting a girl like his ?
After rewatching series 1 and 2 last week raph appears to have lost quite a bit of weight and did anyone notice William had changed actors
I don't know if I am thinking too much into it but the facial expressions of Gary's wife (felicity ? ) seemed to be hinting at something

lemisscared · 05/01/2015 20:48

i like gillian. shes the sort of woman id get rat arsed with
