Corrie thread - still no sign of Cilla or Fat Brenda but Kim Tate on the horizon

AnneEyhtMeyer · 13/10/2014 17:13

Here we are again - a brand new thread for more Corrie ramblings.

Can't believe Cilla still hadn't turned up by the end of the last thread.

Still hoping for an enormous cast-cull. Hoping for a bomb / gas explosion / serial killer / all of the previous.

Hopefully Kim Tate will steal Liz's bloke - can't stand him.

thenewbrunette · 15/12/2014 20:49

I thought Tony would end up with Tracy eventually.

Am loving Billy the vicar.

Chipstick10 · 15/12/2014 21:21

I abso love Tim and Sally [grin ]

eddiemairswife · 15/12/2014 21:40

Todd's 'disfiguring' scar has almost disappeared.

Jill2015 · 15/12/2014 22:01

Yes, Kim Tate is Nick's news love interest.
I just hope she deals with him, like she did with Chris Tate Wink...

differentnameforthis · 16/12/2014 08:45

If I remember correctly Luke and (the dear departed) Tina were involved in winding up Steph at one stage, by pretending to be together.

Wasn't that Katie?

differentnameforthis · 16/12/2014 08:49

Todd is getting right up my nose with his scar! We are just up to where he has gone back to the pawn shop & the first day, Nick didn't buy a speaker from him, and he was 'no one wants to buy from me because of my scar' sob sob sob

It pisses me off the amount of negativity that is given to the smallest of scars in soaps (they do it with Kat in EE too). I have lived with a scar on my face for my whole life....it isn't a life ending experience & it doesn't make me someone who people don't want to be around/won't buy from/who sulks about it constantly.

I would understand it if it was a massive scar, but it isn't!

Rant over.

Jill2015 · 16/12/2014 10:07

I enjoyed some parts of the scenes at Eileen's house, even though I don't really like Sean much anymore. I think he has become quite an unlikable character.
I thought I was imagining things when I saw Todd standing behind Sean in the hall. That was a bit weird...to say the least.

Oh and Gary can take his best skill (hovering in the street) to new levels now... Grin...

alemci · 16/12/2014 10:10

love the way a huge table appeared in the lounge at Eileen's. Where did the sofa go?

Is Kim Tate meant to be a cougar type character? Is she Liz's sister?

Jill2015 · 16/12/2014 10:39

Haha, I didn't even think of that, where did that table come from! Xmas Grin

BringMeTea · 16/12/2014 12:24

Yay to Kim Tate! Booooo to her and Nick. Clearly that is the plan. So effing predictable. I thought Callum was doing a good job, acting wise and was thinking it was the first convincing Mancunian accent I have heard on the street in a while. So i checked and he is. Sad I know but after nearly 20 years away I am delighted I spotted it correctly!

eddiemairswife · 16/12/2014 12:44

I don't know Kim Tate. but I thought she seemed to be a natural on Corrie unlike so many new characters. I hope she will become a permanent member of the cast. Looking forward to David's reaction when (if) he finds out Callum's identity.

alseb · 16/12/2014 14:51

Gail was always painful. However, I have noticed recently that they are trying and utterly failing to give her a more comical role. She drives me insane. She had the same effect on my dear GF. I just can't abide the comedy scenes and as for the scenes with Les Dennis......

Ellenora5 · 16/12/2014 16:47

I just hope there isn't going to be another Sean/Todd storyline where Todd tries to steal his fella, that was definitely creepy last night when he was standing behind them, mind you he is a creep, Eileen has an ever extending table just like her house.

I don't know about Erica yet, will give it a while and see how she gets on, I did love her in Bad Girls though, she was great in that

Jill2015 · 16/12/2014 17:05

I had the same thought re Todd trying to steal Sean's fella, I hope not though.

Am delighted to see 'Erica' arriving at last. I didn't see her in Bad Girls, but she was a brilliant (and very ruthless!) character in Emmerdale, so am looking forward to seeing how her character works out in this.

Agree re Michael and Gail, a bit of me dies inside every time they appear in a scene, especially him.

I'm guessing David will find out who Callum is alright. I presume Kylie has to be written out fairly soon, so if might tie in with that. I hope Callum stays around a while Wink

DontGotoRoehamptonUniversity · 16/12/2014 18:56

Surely they can't do another 'Todd steals Sean's fella' as they did it with Marcus, albeit he was second hand then.
I do think Tony and Tracey-luv belong together - calculating heartless types.
Glas to have itv-player to be able to fast forward anything with Gary/Windasses/Kal family stuff - all utterly boring.

theliverpoolone · 16/12/2014 22:38

I thought it was hilarious how there were three of them all squashed along one side of the table, one person at each end, and no one at all sitting along the side facing the camera Grin

I also thought even Helen Worth (Gail) seemed embarrassed by the rubbish lines she was given in the altercation with Erica at the Bistro - she really rushed through them. Gail has been good in dramatic scenes in the past, but quite often now they just make her look ridiculous.

hildasmuriel · 17/12/2014 08:35

theliverpoolone I thought exactly the same about the table.

I thought the staged altercation between Gail and Kim Tate was rubbish too. Surely they could have come up with something better. To be honest just the fact that Nick fancies her will be enough to get Gail's goat.

I've really taken against the Kal's family moving into the Windass house. They just wouldn't. They are people of means and really would not buy such a small house. They would have to share bedrooms. They should be in an Audrey off set type set up. It's just silly and unnecessary. They could have made them landlords if they had really wanted to buy it.

Is it just me or is Billy a bit Robbie Williams like? And surely not another Todd vs Sean story fighting over the only other gay man in Weatherfield? (Now that's reminded me of Little Britain, maybe Billy needs some ridiculous camp vicar outfit).

Jill2015 · 17/12/2014 10:31

I love this thread Grin, I didn't cop the way they were sitting at the table! I definitely need to become a bit more observant. Blush

qazxc · 18/12/2014 10:13

Please make Kim Tate/Erica stop talking spanish! It's painful!

DontGotoRoehamptonUniversity · 18/12/2014 18:10

Erica (???Kim Tate???) is my hero, I think she is a believable cougar, and a welcome antidote to the borrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring Gary/Alya and YASMEEN moving in non-stories. Loved the Christmas tree scuffle t'wixt Tyrone & David, and the barbed comments from Todd 'handbags' - that's more like the vintage Corrie some of us miss...

Jill2015 · 18/12/2014 18:42

Agreed, DontGo. Loved her as the evil character she played in Emmerdale.
Hope she stays around a while.

I caught up with last night's episode today, and was totally unmoved by Gary/ Alya's travails. Boring.

hildasmuriel · 18/12/2014 20:30

Yes I am liking Erica too.

I thought David's comment about hoping the needles dropped off Tyrone's tree and clogged up his hoover very funny.

I thought it was strange though that Liz said Erica had 'more front than Brighton'. Anyone from the north west would say Blackpool. A rogue Southern scriptwriter possibly?

millimat · 18/12/2014 21:29

Kylie isn't looking very pregnant in real life is she?

Jill2015 · 18/12/2014 21:47

I will be glad to see the back of Kylie. I presume she will depart around Christmas because Gail was talking about wanting to have a nice Christmas. A sure sign in soap that it will be the exact opposite! Grin
