Corrie thread - still no sign of Cilla or Fat Brenda but Kim Tate on the horizon

AnneEyhtMeyer · 13/10/2014 17:13

Here we are again - a brand new thread for more Corrie ramblings.

Can't believe Cilla still hadn't turned up by the end of the last thread.

Still hoping for an enormous cast-cull. Hoping for a bomb / gas explosion / serial killer / all of the previous.

Yes the cufflinks were made out to be a bit of a big thing-I know corrie is set in quite an impoverished area (despite the free childminders and being able to afford to eat out twice a day )but those cufflinks weren't THAT nice! Bit OTT if you ask me.

I quite like the Michael storyline It's a bit different, but Michael himself annoys me. Mary's comment to Michelle was a bit ill-thought out, there's only a couple of years' difference between the characters so it just seemed daft to me, regardless of how they're totally different in their lifestyles.

millimat · 30/11/2014 08:39

What did Mary say to Michelle?

Theshedofalfredogarcia · 30/11/2014 08:46

I think the cufflinks thing was just a device .Beth was really sweet when she gave them to Carla and said that she was being a bit OTT on the wedding.
Did she say that she wants an 80s theme now.?Can't wait for that!

Les Dennis is so annoying with his whining in every episode. It's always about him.He has only been in Corrie for 5mins and they seem to me making him into one of the main charactersAngry

Pastamancer · 30/11/2014 08:49

I can't really see Kirk wearing the cufflinks at the wedding, he dresses as Adam Ant after all.

Jill2015 · 30/11/2014 08:59

Agree Theshed, the cuff links were a way of having Tracy trying to spite Carla, knowing that she bought them for Rob for his 16th birthday. Regardless of price, they would have a sentimental value for Carla.
I was glad to see Beth did the right thing. In any case, Tracy had insulted Kirky yet again. Honestly, I doing think anyone could be as unpleasant as she is. I wish she was the one behind bars.

There are some brilliant photos of Beth and Kirk's wedding online. It looks like the best fun ever. I'm sure it will have plenty of hiccups along the way but a rarity for a soap wedding - they will end up married Grin, and most likely in bed with one another.*

*Unlike Peter and Carla's wedding, and Tracy and Rob's non-wedding Wink

Theshedofalfredogarcia · 30/11/2014 09:13

Grin Jill

desperatehousewife21 · 30/11/2014 21:20

I also thought Michaels huge outburst when he told Gail to shut up was v OTT and she just sat there like a lemon and took it .

Theshedofalfredogarcia · 30/11/2014 23:05

Gail has known les Dennis Michael 5 mins and she is already handing out cash to his son who is not his son. Will she never flippin learn?

Jill2015 · 01/12/2014 09:55

And she first met him when he broke into the house Grin.

It's amazing that Gail has never learned from the disastrous relationships she has had. Okay, it's doubtful Moaning Mike will attempt to drive her and the kids into the canal, a la Richard, but still... Grin!

David is quite funny around Michael and Gavin. Is he the only one that has any doubt about the way Michael and Gail are handing out money towards the nonexistent flood in Gavin's flat! I missed some of it on Friday, I saw Gail saying something to Audrey, so I'm not sure if Audrey expressed doubts about them also.

Theshedofalfredogarcia · 01/12/2014 10:43

Oh I miss Richard Hillman-those were the daysGrin

hildasmuriel · 01/12/2014 12:28

Audrey was definitely looking suspicious.

hildasmuriel · 01/12/2014 12:29

Suspicious of 'Gavin' I mean rather than she was suspicious.

cococandyfloss · 01/12/2014 13:01

I think When Mary first came into it (When she lived with her mother and stalked Norris) , it was clear she was younger than Norris and Rita etc but I would have put her at 50's. She was dressed very similar to Hayley, some greying hair, anoraks, etc but the last year or so I think they tried to dress her a little younger and made her look nearer her age but just frumpy/old fashioned. Her hair is always dyed and less ageing now and she always has some make up on.

waithorse · 01/12/2014 19:48

Mary, sorry I don't know her name in rl is on ITV3 now, on Text Santa. She looks so pretty and lovely. Smile

Camolips · 01/12/2014 22:17

Nearly freaked out watching I'm a celeb after show, bloody Andrea sitting there! I suppose she was booked because of Craig Charles being a camp mate, very tenuous link though, especially as he went home ages ago.

hildasmuriel · 03/12/2014 21:30

Thought writing was great tonight. Tim and his not wanting to waste a pie on a good day, the counting in and the fact Ken referenced his long lived feud with Mike Baldwin, Sally, Tim and the 'Mick Jagger blowing a rasberry sofa'. Love the Street when it's just little stories like this.

But that sofa looks bloody uncomfortable.

eddiemairswife · 03/12/2014 22:53

Sally was so funny when she changed her mind about the sofa because it came from Hale Barns. Todd gets on my nerves about being "scarred for life"; he's not hideously disfigured, It's a small scratch.

Pyjamaramadrama · 03/12/2014 23:02

I've had to give Corrie a break for a while, there's just too many characters I can't stand, Gary and the Windasses, Yasmeen and her family, Andrea.

I put on I'm a celeb now and Andrea was on there, she's just as bad in real life.

I can't bear to watch it anymore with these lot in it Hmm

Pyjamaramadrama · 03/12/2014 23:04

Oh and sick of Les Dennis and his son, and Kylie.

Please Corrie make it good again so that I can come back. I haven't watched it in over a week and not missing it at all.

sunflower49 · 04/12/2014 01:09

Where was Tracey's daughter tonight, was there nobody in?

I SO wanted Alya to catch Tracey!

Jill2015 · 04/12/2014 08:13

Enjoyed the sofa story. I just love Sally and Tim as a couple. Total comedy Grin. Mick Jagger blowing a raspberry, so funny!
The guys trying to get the sofa in, Owen said something to Kev about it being in the orangery, when they picked it up... 'you got an orangery?' Grin

The sofa story isn't over yet, as I'm sure we can all guess Wink

hildasmuriel · 04/12/2014 08:30

How long before Todd's scar disappears and then is just forgotten. I personally am going to be on scar watch.

Jill2015 · 04/12/2014 09:07

Grin I had that exact thought last night about the scar!

ProfYaffle · 04/12/2014 09:11

YY to Sally and Tim, they're great together. Loved the whole sofa story, especially Sally not opening her eyes on 2!

I think you're right about the scar too. I was thinking how it's such a small story line really but a right pita for the make up people who'll have to paint it on from now til the end of time. Todd's a bit pointless at the moment, I'm sure he'll be off back to Almond Milk central pretty soon.

Jill2015 · 04/12/2014 10:27

I'm still laughing. Imagine coming home to find a bright red sofa in your house. Ok, it might be worth loads, but it probably would have been the colour you bought, in the first place, if you wanted red Grin.
It didn't look very comfortable either.
I enjoyed the lads sitting in the street, on it, and Tim coming along. He cracks me up. It's the really low key way he delivers lines, that kills me. 'Sally is always telling me to be more decisive...' 'Red is her favourite colour...' He turns to Kev for confirmation. He is brilliant.
