Corrie thread - still no sign of Cilla or Fat Brenda but Kim Tate on the horizon

AnneEyhtMeyer · 13/10/2014 17:13

Here we are again - a brand new thread for more Corrie ramblings.

Can't believe Cilla still hadn't turned up by the end of the last thread.

Still hoping for an enormous cast-cull. Hoping for a bomb / gas explosion / serial killer / all of the previous.

He assumed Gail had money because Michael Drearyhead mentioned that she sold her house to David. I think she got cleaned out of funds some years ago didn't she? I seem to remember all of them sitting down watching a dvd of the guy who tricked her. I wasn't watching it very much at the time.

She worked briefly in the reception at the gym, until Alya arrived, whereupon Gail was moved to a cleaning job there.
She used to be in the Bistro, but now Steph seems to pretty much run that singlehanded Grin.

Speaking of the gym, I keep wondering how they all kept fit before it magically opened on the Street...

purplefeathers · 25/11/2014 13:29

I think it was Audrey who got fleeced by Nigel Havers wasn't it? Not Gail.

I felt so sorry foe Steve when everyone was rounding on him last night. He finally plucked up the courage to talk to his mum and she was awful to him. I really feel for him.

GetTheRedOut · 25/11/2014 13:41

Emily watching Orange is the New Black! GrinGrinGrin

AnathemaIsANiceNameForAGirl · 25/11/2014 13:46

He paid Audrey back and fleeced Gail instead (Nigel Havers). So she is skint.
Think it's a bit predictable the son turning out to be dodgy / a gold-digger. But is he even actually Michael's son? This crossed my mind...I mean they left a note on the door with a phone number on, he could be anyone, couldn't he? Could just be some random chancer / con-man?

Loving Emily's Adventures in Netflix Grin remember she watched Breaking Bad a few months ago? and now Orange is the New Black. I so want her to watch Game of Thrones next, but it isn't on Netflix so she'd need to buy the boxset overthinks

ClaudiaNaughton · 25/11/2014 14:18

Mmmmm would be hard to pull that off as he presumably would have to know his own mother/Michael's previous wife. Not easy for a stranger to know all that. But thinking about it (momentarily) he could be a con man. Maybe he and Michael are in it together.

Jill2015 · 25/11/2014 14:44

I wondered as well if he is really his son. He hasn't said very much, I think, to show that he knows the inside story of what happened re Michael walking out.

Yes, I remember Gail was to go away on a holiday with that guy and instead she was left watching a dvd of him going off on a luxury holiday, with her money. Poor Gail, she doesn't have much luck with men!

BringMeTea · 25/11/2014 15:26

Re Mary. Yes. Her mother is dead. That was the whole big thing point when they were introducing her character and she was chasing Norris! Totally confused by that speech in the Rovers.

And. Please God don't be so utterly predictable to have Gavin as scammer. I don't think I could cope.

BringMeTea · 25/11/2014 15:33

Oh, also love Craig and hasn't he shot up!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 25/11/2014 15:38

I thought Mary's mother was still alive, seem to remember having this conversation on the thread a year or so back.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 25/11/2014 15:39

Yes, here's a link Mary's mother

NuggetofPurestGreen · 25/11/2014 18:37

Where's Carla living now?

hildasmuriel · 25/11/2014 19:30

Carla lives in Victoria Court now.

Please Steve talk to Lloyd, he's your best mate and the only one who listened and didn't rant.

I so want Emily to watch Game of Thrones.

Jill2015 · 25/11/2014 22:24

My heart was breaking for Steve last night. I think he is playing the part so well. I hope he picks the right person to confide in, someone who will support him. (Not some twit like Andrea or Steph).

BringMeTea · 26/11/2014 02:00

Thanks whoknows. I missed a few years of Corrie when I moved overseas. Am sad indeed to have missed the Misery homage.

hildasmuriel · 26/11/2014 08:13

My heart broke for Steve too. To work up the guts to speak to someone and then be turned on was distressing to watch but probably quite true as depression is not understood by many.

I think because lots of us have grown up with Steve it is hard to watch but how refreshing for a soap to tackle something like depression in this way, far better than some dramatic murder type story but a real issue that will probably have affected most viewers in some kind of way as either having experienced depression themselves or that of a family member or friend. To portray that flatness and bleakness of depression without resorting to a dramatic suicide type storyline is, in my opinion, laudable and Simon Gregson is playing a blinder, especially as he can still make me laugh on occasion. Just wanted to hug him really.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 26/11/2014 09:02

Totally agree Hildasmuriel, what a nice change from the usual dramatics and great choice of character to have it being Steve, who is played by such a great actor. I think he ought to talk to Eileen, they used to get on so well but you rarely see them together now.

Pastamancer · 26/11/2014 09:35

It's breaking my heart, I just want to give him a big cuddle and tell him it will be ok and that I love him

hildasmuriel · 26/11/2014 13:05

Yes Eileen would be a far better confidant than Liz or Michelle.

Jill2015 · 26/11/2014 14:37

Oh yes, Eileen might be someone he could confide in.

If he tells Lloyd, Lloyd would probably tell Andrea who would barge into the pub to shout about it, with that stupid grin that always seems to be on her face.

eddiemairswife · 26/11/2014 14:54

I looks as though my fears about Yasmeen and the Windass's ex-home might be true.

Jill2015 · 26/11/2014 18:28

Yes, my fear also. As I was watching Anna and co getting organised to move, I could already picture YASMEEN and all that family moving in. Boooooring lot that they are.

hildasmuriel · 26/11/2014 19:58

Craig is so tall. He made Norris look like the hobbit stood next to him.

I love the old guard trying out technology.

millimat · 26/11/2014 20:36

Poor Steve Sad

millimat · 26/11/2014 20:47

Just watching tonights on +1. What name was on those envelopes of Michaels son?

GetTheRedOut · 26/11/2014 21:21

I don't understand why Yasmeen and her lit would move into Anna's house when they have a very nice house of their own. Gary visited for that awkward dinner, remember? That place was much bigger than Anna's so it doesn't make sense that the family would move there. Does this mean the while lot of them will be hit with financial troubles?
