Corrie thread - still no sign of Cilla or Fat Brenda but Kim Tate on the horizon

Here we are again - a brand new thread for more Corrie ramblings.

Can't believe Cilla still hadn't turned up by the end of the last thread.

Still hoping for an enormous cast-cull. Hoping for a bomb / gas explosion / serial killer / all of the previous.

Where is Carla's new flat ? what happened to her old posh one next to Mike Baldwin's.

i am bored of Corrie. used to love it.

pinkandstripey · 28/10/2014 10:12

Carla got rid of her old flat after she was raped by one of her bad ex's. Tony Gordon? Or the other one? I think her new flat must be in Victoria court, although looks like Peter's flat redecorated.

alemci · 28/10/2014 10:13

is that where Nick lives or Leanne?

Jill2015 · 28/10/2014 10:30

Tracy married Roy because she was making out that he was the father of Amy (she drugged him and made him believe they'd had sex). then she tried to sell him and Hayley the baby - Amy was originally called Patience!

Yes, and she tricked poor old Roy into thinking he had slept with her, in the first place, all because of a bet with Bev...who now suddenly is close enough to Deirdre, that Deirdre has gone to stay with her.
Doesn't add up, that Deirdre would be still friendly with her.

Ladytron · 28/10/2014 11:32

^^ and hence Roy recognising that nasty lamp that Tracey had chucked into Tyrone & Fiz's skip a few weeks ago - as it had been in T-luv's bedroom on that night in question!

I can't remember Bev?? Anyone?

Bev was Shelley's mum (Shelley who was going out with and being abused by (and almost married) Charlie who Tracey went on to kill). They ran the Rovers for a while.

emsiewill · 28/10/2014 11:45

Oh yes, forgot she also married Peter Barlow...

Nancy66 · 28/10/2014 11:55

didn't Bev also shag Charlie?

DontGoToRoehampton · 28/10/2014 14:24

Ooooh, glad its been cleared up who Bev is - I remember now - only watch off & on now, and assumed she was an off-screen character - someone like 'Jackie's mum' who used to be the universal babysitter, but we never saw ( nor Jackie).
I'm glad we now have an actual moral dilemma to give some acting to Carla and Rob, get bored when it is just affairs and bratty kids.
She Should go on WWYD - 'found out my bro' is the actual killer of DH's bit that he got banged up for murdering...'

Pastamancer · 28/10/2014 15:20

At one point Carla was moving to Chorlton, is that where her new flat is supposed to be?

emsiewill · 28/10/2014 18:30

No, I think her flat must be in Victoria Court, as they were on the balcony and could hear the hen night .

Camolips · 28/10/2014 18:57

Yes and the camera panned to where Tina lay outside the builders yard.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 28/10/2014 20:04

Haven't really been watching lately but tuned back in for the trial

Anyone else think Steve's depression is a bit 'person who's never been depressed's idea of depression'. Moping round, not wanting to go for lunch. Not that depressed people don't do that sometimes but many just carry on as normal but with a 'mask'.

Or have I missed something?

millimat · 28/10/2014 22:00

I'm impressed with steves depression. I went through a short phase of it, came on from nothing to just like him. Still don't know why.
Hope he gets help by going back to his gp.
No other storyline seems worth debating!

millimat · 28/10/2014 22:02

And its the worst job ever of supposedly hiding a baby bump that Paula lane aka kylie has!

cleanmachine · 29/10/2014 06:51

Loving steves acting atm.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 29/10/2014 08:28

Agree his acting is very good but he just seems a bit sad. Which I'm sure is a perfectly valid depiction of depression as it manifests in so many different forms!

Thought Rob and Carla were great the other night too.

Jill2015 · 29/10/2014 08:45

Yes, I thought Carla and Rob were excellent.
Pity that once that story finishes, the standard will probably drop back to that ridiculous story of Yasmeen and the butcher shop, I mean, community centre. Her 'acting' is deplorable.

Camolips · 29/10/2014 09:36

What other storylines are on the horizon? Only Fay's pregnancy by the sound of itShock I wonder what Beth's wedding will be like? She wanted to outdo Tracey but it remains to be seen what that will be like! I wonder if Sarah Lou will make a play for Jason with Eva out of the picture? Was Jason Bethany's father? I can't remember.

WhoKnowsWhereTheSlimeGoes · 29/10/2014 09:44

Bethany's father was a boy from Sarah-Lou's school, who later died, he was never really in the show.

I thought Rob and Carla were brilliant on Monday, all a bit implausible the way it all fell into place with Liz blabbing in the pub, but very well acted.

I also like Steve's storyline, not overly dramatic for once, but the last person you would think might suffer from depression slowly sliding into it without anyone realising.

Community centre storyline is dire and I don't like Gary getting together with Alya, that surely isn't going to work out.

Camolips · 29/10/2014 10:12

Ooh, I didn't know that about Bethany's father. And agree about the contrived conversation in the toilets. Am excited about it all coming out though (sad)

hildasmuriel · 29/10/2014 10:42

I thought Rob acted the little brother in trouble act very well, even I felt a bit sorry for him. I think that would have played on Carla's instincts to look after him and put her in a real dilemma as to what to do next.

I really like the way Steve is playing out the depression storyline. It is just creeping up on him and robbing him of his enjoyment of life. I think that is a reasonable portrayal of depression. The way it flattens people out whilst the person tries desperately to get on with life. I like that there are still flashes of Steve humour and that it is taking his family a long time to see what is going on. Far better than them seizing on a dramatic suicidal or sectioning type shortly line but rather showing that slow wearing down that many people experience.

If they split up Eva and Jason for Sarah Lou I will really really sulk!

Next storylines? Think Gary and Kal's daughter (yawn), Kylie going completely off the rails, hopefully not Faye and pregnancy, Roy dealing with his ongoing grief over Hayley, something actually happening to Sean rather than him being a foil to other's plot developments, a new boyfriend? Hopefully lots of funny Sally and Tim moments.

Catfight between Emily and YASMEEN as they tussle over the community centre? Fred Elliott turning in his grave at the lack of meat products sold there? Maddie getting canonised? Fat Brenda losing 5 stone and becoming thin Brenda? Andrea falling off a cliff/getting run over by a tram/realising it was all a mistake and going back off with her ex leaving Lloyd and Eileen free to hook up?

Jill2015 · 29/10/2014 14:07

Agreed hildasmuriel re Carla and Rob. There was a real sense of them having been there for one another, in tough times previously, and it made for some very powerful scenes, in Monday night's episodes.

Nothing very interesting on the horizon, once this story ends...although I like some of the potential storylines you have come up with. Grin Fred will surely haunt the butcher shop, I said... Grin

desperatehousewife21 · 29/10/2014 16:17

I just can't get over how much wine they get through! Grin

Think I counted 3 bottles plus champagne. I don't drink much so maybe seems a lot to me but I'd be under the table after just 1 bottle!
