Corrie thread - still no sign of Cilla or Fat Brenda but Kim Tate on the horizon

Here we are again - a brand new thread for more Corrie ramblings.

Can't believe Cilla still hadn't turned up by the end of the last thread.

Still hoping for an enormous cast-cull. Hoping for a bomb / gas explosion / serial killer / all of the previous.

Martin cheesemaking ? Thought he practically ran the NHS.

I want Julie's headmaster back.

Spooklingbrook · 26/10/2014 14:19

Him that plays Martin Platt.

Corrie thread - still no sign of Cilla or Fat Brenda but Kim Tate on the horizon
Camolips · 26/10/2014 14:43

I expect Jason's learned his lesson and will only use top quality from now on!
Talking of the building trade, old Phelan never got his come-uppance did he?

MissBattleaxe · 26/10/2014 14:45

No and it really bugged me that the Phelan storyline was left unfinished. I'm wondering is there's something afoot at the last minute just before Owen loses the house, or whether the storyline was just put there to depress everyone.

Spooklingbrook · 26/10/2014 14:57

Where's the fun? It's all quite gloomy and dare I say it a bit far fetched ATM

Loads of very irritating characters too.

Nancy66 · 26/10/2014 15:04

it's shit right now. You could usually count on Corrie for a bit of light relief while EE was always the total misery fest.

I agree re. characters. the new ones have been particularly bad. I don't mind Kal but his family are terrible and Les Dennis adds nothing.

I didn't realise Kylie was leaving. I guess she'll get back with Max's father?

Spooklingbrook · 26/10/2014 15:05

I think they could have made Les Dennis a fun character, he's quite a depressing watch isn't he?

YY the whole Kal family are terrible. Plus quite how Dev is still in it is a mystery.

Kylie is having a baby in RL I think.

Nancy66 · 26/10/2014 15:07

Kylie, Fiz and Eva all pregnant in real life so they'll all need exits. I think it's only Kylie not coming back though

Maybe Cilla coming back is a vehicle for Fiz to go and look after her?

Spooklingbrook · 26/10/2014 15:08

When is the baby due?
"Mid-December. I'm hoping to return to filming in March, so I'm not having an excessive amount of time off - but that was just a personal choice. I've got a very good support network, so I'll be making arrangements to come back and get my feet back on the Street.

Excerpt from interview with actress that plays Kylie.

Spooklingbrook · 26/10/2014 15:08

I hope Fiz doesn't come back.

Nancy66 · 26/10/2014 15:10

oh so she is coming back.

yeah, I could do without Fiz. I was praying for John Stape to shut her up once and for all

MissBattleaxe · 26/10/2014 15:13

The Oscar for the most irritating and annoying character ever who has way too much screen time and banal storylines goes to........Kal's Mum!

Also- Did you notice that Kal's mum had loads of screen time devoted to the fact she had forgotten to arrange the books alphabetically (Zzzz) whilst in the meantime, a major character received a life sentence and we didn't even see it.

Crap writing.

Spooklingbrook · 26/10/2014 15:13

Well she says she is but it's easy to say that before the baby arrives isn't it? Bit different when you have a 4 month old and it's time to go back to work.

Perhaps they could bring Steve's twin back that would be good.

Pyjamaramadrama · 26/10/2014 16:34

I really don't know what that Community Centre is all about. I mean it's tiny, and what were those few books about? There were only about 20 books, is it supped to be some type of library?

The whole family just can't act, and I just cringe every time I see Gary's face. I've never disliked a character more than Gary.

I don't like Fiz much these days, she's a whiney good two shoes who needs to get off her high horse.

Pyjamaramadrama · 26/10/2014 16:36

I hope Kylie doesn't come back, she's no Becky and never will be.

Eva can come back and Fiz and run off with Gary.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 26/10/2014 16:55

Re Rob killing Tina, it wasn't really to do with caring about Carla. That's why he was there in the first place but he killed Tina when she said she was going to dob him in for dodgy deals and more importantly that she was going to tell the cops he threw her off the balcony on purpose and get him fitted up for attempted murder. That's when he picked up the iron bar - saving his own skin.

hildasmuriel · 26/10/2014 18:07

nugget i think you are right, Rob was more motivated by harm to himself and kind of got tangled up seeing no way out when Tina was going to grass him up. Murder still pretty extreme though and I find Carla's forgiveness and trust of him strange but I guess he is the only family she has.

I like Kylie, I think the actress plays her with a vulnerability that I never really saw with Becky. Not over keen on the current storyline but that is not the actress's fault.

BreconBeBuggered · 26/10/2014 22:15

Thanks for the Rob explanations.
Wrt Cilla, the osteoporosis storyline has been highlighted on the National Osteoporosis Society website, so I assume that she's telling the truth this time.

cleanmachine · 27/10/2014 06:58

Cant stand kylie. Fingers crossed she doesnt come back. She was vile when sold max to becky and the writers then turned her into an angel (like they are doing to maddie). Her plots are the ones which make me switch off. Her love triangle with nick and david was horrendous and now the drugs story. Its unwatchable at the moment.

Kal and his family need the chop. What family of grandparents and kids sit around in either a gym or community centre all day ffs. The sons acting is dire. Corrie is getting worse. Yes and less dennis and his moping beetroot face can do one too.

Lucylambkin · 27/10/2014 09:07

Who is going to read the CC library books? Only Ken has ever been seen with a book (and a newspaper once).

Camolips · 27/10/2014 09:19

Yasmeen will probably collar Tim for toddler storytime. Cue farce where Ruby and Hope tell Tim the words Shock

NoMontagues · 27/10/2014 10:10

I like Kylie, if only for the impact she's had on David. He was a right PITA before she came along. I know he still is but he's more rounded now- his relationship with Max is very sweet. Although maybe he's actually outgrown Kylie at this stage.

If she has an affair with Callum (I assume she will?) then it's going to be very hard on David.

Agree re Kal's mother. Painful.

hildasmuriel · 27/10/2014 10:33

It must have been a rubbish library as there are only about 20 books! Pity Blanche has gone as I remember she liked to settle down with a Maeve Binchy. I wonder what kind of books the residents like to read? Bet Deirdre is a 50 Shades type along with Liz, Rita a Mills and Boon and it could do a roaring trade in self help books.

Gail, 'keep falling for criminal types, murderers, thieves and fraudsters?'

David 'support for those in dysfunctional families and whose Dads move 50 miles down the M62 never to return'.

Ken and Deirdre 'your children keep being convicted of murder charges - never mind have a stuffed marrow'.

Yasmeen 'over enunciation? Learn subtlety techniques'

Martin Platt and Marcus 'learn to say no - for those overworked NHS workers who single handedly run the whole Weatherfield NHS'.

Peter 'libido control - stop feeling the pressure to date every female aged 18-80 living on your Street (bar those related to you)'.

Street Children 'dealing with abandonment - for those dumped in the giant creche and not collected again for 2 years'.

All cast members 'dealing with sick friends and relative, make use of public services - resist the urge to move out for 6 months when some old friend \ relative becomes sick'.

Camolips · 27/10/2014 10:39

Grin Hilda

impomea · 27/10/2014 10:41
