And you're right to think twice about the word hysterical.

My case was a family friend. He was known and trusted. It doesn't negate the on-line grooming cases- because do you know what? He was doing that too. That's how the police caught him. It's not either/or you know.

Terror? Or raising awareness? The threat is real - that much is obvious.

I know from my experience that people like to sweep this under the carpet - think it couldn't possibly happen to them. I know because I used to do it myself.

Raising awareness of unsavoury subjects is never easy. But I would say as a society we are more aware of child abuse now than ever in the past. My mother says she never knew it even existed until she was in her 20's.

Very interesting article

But saddening and sickening at the same time.

“The moment we got online, we were swamped, like an avalanche.”
He added: “These people think they are invisible. These people think they are untouchable.”
The webcam child-sex tourists identified by the charity included 254 in the United States, 103 in India, 54 in Canada, 46 in Australia and 44 in Germany.
Mr Guyt urged authorities to be more proactive in tackling the problem of webcam sex with minors, which usually involves men from Western countries paying children from poorer nations for sex shows.
He said: “The predator won’t come forward, the prey won’t come forward.
“This requires a new way of policing.
“We identified ourselves as ten-year-old girl Filipino girls. We did not solicit anything unless it was offered to us.”

We have to take these predators seriously. They do serious to real children.

And we're not talking about men who "look a bit weird" or whatever here - we're talking about predators who seek out children to abuse. The men that answered the "sweetie" sting thought she was a real child.

The men in that TV prog thought they were meeting a real child, and they brought alcohol along. They meant to abuse that child.

I don't even think you've read my posts Kate. I'm at a loss at what point you're trying to make.

Apparently you didn't even watch the programme? The man took evidence to the police that ended up in predatory paedophiles being convicted in a court of law.

Not men that looked a bit weird, or outsiders, but predatory men that were seeking out children to have sex with rape.

Did you watch the programme Kate?

If you did, you'd see it was nothing like the article you just linked to.

Why don't you watch it, and then come back? Since this thread is about it and all?

You're kind of in the dark otherwise. I'm a tad uncomfortable with vigilantism in general as it goes - but since you didn't even watch it I can't really discuss it with you meaningfully.
