Maryz they're posting profiles of young girls as decoys, stating that they are aged 13-15 and the guys contact them and chat. They record the stuff they say/send and arrange to meet them.

I think he seems quite troubled doesn't he? I've not see the whole thing but he said he was in care and prison. It's v poss that this is personal for him.

Very uncomfortable viewing, these men are sick and should be locked up! Just goes to show how many of them there are too, makes me feel so
upset that my daughter will never have the freedom I had when I was younger because of sickos like this
Hang the bastards

I agree MacFox who cares about the offender. But I agree about tgeur family and chikdren could be exposed and put into risk. They should just pass their information to the Police.

maryz If you watched it you would see these men sending girls they know are as young as 11 naked
Pictures and telling them what they want to do to them. No more proof needed, the police are called and they are named and shamed on Facebook so people know what these sick bastards are capable of
Good on him for highlighting and rooting them out

ThE Police speaking just seem to make excuses as to why they cannot catch paedophiles so easily.

I am watching but finding it utterly shocking for all sorts of reasons.

Mostly terrified for my dds that there are so many dangerous people out there.

God the messages of this one just sick!

Can't bear to watch it anymore, the police should have these sort of things set up all over the country to catch these 'men'
And the punishment should be severe, as a lot of the time the disgusting things get worse and seek more than just online stuff
Naming and shaming is right, let the public deal with them if the police won't. Got to turn it off as it makes my skin crawl, good on Stinson Hunter, keep doing it and catching these sick twisted bastards

Really mixed views about this. The ultimate point for the producers is that it makes great television.

I am glad it exposes these sick paedophiles tbh I don't care about them

(Paraphrasing) CP officer on the programme:

"This works, but shouldn't be down to vigilantes with no training. They've shown how easy it is and this should provide the evidence to the government that our police force needs the resources"

Amen to that.

I do tend to agree that the offenders should not be named on facebook etc.

But I think it's important that the evidence of their work is out there.

These men are absolutely vile, and deserve to be locked up and never released. However, this public shaming doesn't quite sit right with me, purely from the POV that they could have children/wives who could suffer greatly from such exposure. Obviously the men need to be caught, but i'm not sure that this is exactly right. Could he not just catch them, record the evidence and pass it to the police without the facebook/website exposure?

Argh, i'm torn, the more I watch, the more angry I get and think they deserve it, which they do- but i'm just not sure that their families do?

That Roger trying to groom a vulnerable Autistic girl is just horrid. Dd7 is autistic and this sticks me to the core, because of her disabilities it makes her more vulnerable.

This is very hard to watch , i think he should give it straight to the police ..could be stepping on police investigations

Report
Panthingies · 01/10/2014 22:57

But it's wider than the subject of child abuse. Having 'vigilantes' overall is high stakes for most people - who knows where the next "innocent" victim could come from.
But getting child abusers arrested and questioned is a good result, in this case. Though I would fear mimickers tagetting people they just don't like.

People are obviously watching as Stinson's Facebook likes have gone up by ten thousand since the programme has been on

These men are out there looking for underage girls, these are decoys but they could have just as easily been real 11 year old girls. So fuck their families & wives and think of the young girls and their families. Peadophiles are the absolute scum of the earth and shouldn't be protected or have the privilege of having their identities hidden. They could live next door to a family that deserve to know what sort of man he is. So I say name and shame and let then take the punishment from the public

NoArmaniNoPunani · 01/10/2014 23:01

I think this man is fantastic. The police should employ him, he's better at catching paedophiles than they are.

I 'm wondering about his motiviation (sorry if i missed a bit), was his sister/brother/him abused? he seems so passionate about it that it doesn't seem like a general 'this is appalling' point of view, does anyone know?

I'm sort of appalled at his tactics (not being pro vigilantes in any field) but if it gets people who should be locked up locked up, then...

genuinely conflicted about this show.
