Who else is settling in for the evening? Missed most of the first half due to Doctor who but we have lots of cheese and biscuits and wine and hooray!

Is this why there's no bloody casualty?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/09/2014 20:31

I guess so, it moves on to bbc one at 9:10. Would you like a glass of wine?

Awwww, nice cup of tea then 3pigs.

Yay wildthong :) was thinking I'd be partying by myself tonight! I think people usually turn up a bit later though.

joanofarchitrave · 13/09/2014 20:43

did I misread, I thought they were leaving out Rule Britannia due to the Scots referendum?

or will they sing it in gaelic?

my fave version is still the time bryn terfel sang it in welsh Grin

SecretNutellaFix · 13/09/2014 20:44

What better time to sing it? It might be the very last time it can be sung in relation to the current state of the Union.

WildThong · 13/09/2014 20:45

They better not, love that bit! Angry

cruikshank · 13/09/2014 20:45

I always think it's a shame that so much fuss is made of Last Night when it's the shittest concert of the entire season. This year has been really good - loads of Strauss, for starters, which is always fab. And it's always nice to see the Orkney Wedding thing. Sure, you can catch them on Beeb 4 and that's great. But there's so much more (I mean SO MUCH more) to the proms than a bunch of cunts waving flags over a tune that the composer expressly said he didn't want those particular words put to, what with him being a pacifist and all (Land of Hope and Glory), and it would be nice to see even just a bit of it given as much prominence in the schedules.

If it wasn't for last Night of the Proms dd and I wouldn't have gone to a prom earlier in the summer and wouldn't have then been watching it on and off after. So for us it's been a good introduction.
For me it's like saying goodbye to summer.

It will be interesting to see what does get sung later.

We have Mary Poppins first though

Awww was. It must feel very poignant. I think that they aren't going to be showing some of the later stuff in Scotland?

Picturesinthefirelight · 13/09/2014 20:52

The tenor is a bit off tonight. Loved the clip of Bryn though.

joanofarchitrave · 13/09/2014 20:53

OK surged too early. Back on BBC2 and sobbing. What is it about Elgar's intervals that just cause tears to spring immediately?

We are def going to see more next year.

HesterShaw · 13/09/2014 20:59

Ooh this was such fun last year. Hi all.

That Bass in the Strauss was wonderful, the tenor not so much.

Bryn...hmmm, looking seedy I think. Can't stand Jenkins so I can't say anything objective.

Loving the highlights especially the Mozart Requiem.
