I like Kay Mellor and it has a great cast. Anyone else giving it a go?

That's what I just said to DH

Fizzyfuzzy123 · 26/08/2014 21:19

Mixed wards where I live which is annoying because I had to sleep next to newborns crying the night my son was born and in scbu.

Loving the cheese on this programme!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 26/08/2014 21:22

Yes.

Goodness the nurse in NICU was wooden.

girliefriend · 26/08/2014 21:25

I had the same experience Fizzy the worst night of my life after dd was born after a horrendous labour and emcs, I was back on the ward in agony surrounded by mums and their newborns. Dd was in scbu with breathing difficulties Sad

juneybean · 26/08/2014 21:38

Well I never!

girliefriend · 26/08/2014 21:43

Theres a surprise Hmm

girliefriend · 26/08/2014 21:53

Hate to say it but am loving this weeks episode!!

wineoclocktimeye · 26/08/2014 21:57

Noooooo, you don't start snogging at a time like that

WipsGlitter · 26/08/2014 21:58

She kept that top remarkably dry in the birthing pool. And what a clean baby.

DustBunnyFarmer · 26/08/2014 22:39

Am watching on catch up & had already guessed Jude was the baby daddy, so at least you guys didn't spoil the surprise for me.

Icimoi · 26/08/2014 22:54

Surely if you're drafting in a new mum to talk to the ante-natal class, the last person you would choose would be the woman who had an emergency Caesarian and whose baby came very close to dying in NICU and may well end up seriously disabled?

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 26/08/2014 23:04

Perhaps they thought they'd save on having two new mums by having the one who'd had a vb and a cs Confused I agree, not terribly sensitive.

DustBunnyFarmer · 26/08/2014 23:08

I can't believe Will Mellor hasn't enquired about benefits. Two nights a week as a restaurant washer-up is hardly going to keep a family of 6 with a mortgage and building debts afloat.

DustBunnyFarmer · 26/08/2014 23:12

Wooden-midwife knocking to say "Kim's gone into labour" - really? First name terms with patients in a busy midwifery unit like that?

And sellotape fixit for a water birthing pool? Really? Would you want that to go pffft in your front room? Good old Katherine Parkinson though - excellent mooing.

Italiangreyhound · 27/08/2014 00:34

Loving it. Wonder if the midwife is based on anyone from 'One born any minute'!

Can't believe so much of it but loved the bit last week with Hermoine Norris with pizza on her chin!

This week's episode was even better and think, as long as I can remember Katherine Parkinson is Kim Hall, and not that woman from the IT crowd!

Italiangreyhound · 27/08/2014 00:35

that all the best bits are around Katherine's and Hermoine's characters!

TheDietStartsTomorrow · 27/08/2014 06:31

Yes it is totally unrealistic and with way too much happening at once but its really good tv. All the different plot lines make it very interesting.

Really feel for Jaz's fella, Dev. He's such a sweetheart with her and she's just a moaning, selfish cow sometimes. It would be absolutely devastating for him if he didn't turn out to be the father.

Southeastdweller · 27/08/2014 07:38

Another highly watchable episode. I can barely take my eyes off the TV screen when it's on.

Hermione Norris was particularly good last night. I really felt for her when her older son rejected his little brother and later when the mother-in-law visited and H.M felt left out (or is it something else?).

Hope Kim and Neil get together properly when the dust settles.

AllYouNeedIsTea · 27/08/2014 10:26

I don't know if she was feeling left out or reminded of a relationship with her older son that she didn't have anymore.

girliefriend · 27/08/2014 11:39

I think she is going to end up with PND.....

girliefriend · 27/08/2014 11:41

I loved the bit where Dev punched the annoying blonde bloke, was really cheering him on Blush

I do think its a bit of a sad state of affairs though when this is the best thing on T.V!!

BertieBotts · 27/08/2014 12:12

I thought last night's was disappointing and ridiculous after the others. But perhaps it was more that I kept being interrupted while watching it.

Yes I think she was missing her older son. And we haven't heard anything about her parents - perhaps she was a bit sad that her own mum wasn't there cooing over her newest grandson.

FabulousFudge · 27/08/2014 12:26

I think PND too.

sweetnessandlite · 27/08/2014 13:11

I think the blonde one was crying because she can tell, that if she moves into MIL's house, MIL will completely take over and will act more like the baby's mother than a grandmother.
I also think she was extremely hurt by the MIL saying baby had grandfather s nose and son's looks, but excluded her.
There s nothing more hurtful to a new mother when someone thoughtlessly fails to include her in the 'game' of 'who baby looks like'. Irrational but true - it hurts for some reason..
I thought the blonde actress acted that scene really well.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/08/2014 18:01

Yes it's trashy and facts not 'quite' right over medical stuff but I'm really enjoying it

Loved every episode :)

I saw it as mil accepting the baby by saying looked liked grandad /daddy and inviting them to live with them

Hope it is devs baby but unlikely if she hadn't been with him for a while hence why she got drunk and then slept with blonde haired bloke

Agree chat with mum of baby who may die isn't best

Ditto about benifits - surely would get something esp now with 4 kids

Of course school girls baby is other ladies son

Sad they spilt up (gay couple) but as she actually slept with the bloke rather then sperm donor - other lady is jealous (mum of older son)
