I like Kay Mellor and it has a great cast. Anyone else giving it a go?

Why didn't Vicky ask the doc if he was married?

I think Roanna knows the dad from AA.

Her DS rebelled a bit more, Winona style, but soon got over it. After helping to get back the painting her DS struck up a friendship with her DP. They starting going football together and to the pub afterwards, doing blokish things like checking out the girls. Rowana became jealous and insecure. Had a facelift. Oh the pressures of dating a tom boy!

There was a scandal at the hospital when another lady gave birth in the car park and had but a single midwife to support her. Threatened to sue. Nasty piece of work she was. Turned out she the Doc's first long lost wife who married him for a visa. Our tarty but oh so lovely and fiesty Vicky put two and two together (now she had no belly to constantly stroke she needed another hobby)and threatened the carpark-scam-marriage-mum that if she didn't drop all charges against the hospital for neglect and lack of proper care, she'd report her and get her booted off back to Ethiopia. Also blackmailed her into divorcing Doc. Two birds in one stone.

The stress of it all was too much for Geraldine though, who hung up her latex gloves and retired to a cute little cottage with a rose garden.

It was totally ridiculous. They wouldn't even know who the family was with the forgotten baby and he'd only been in the supermarket 5 minutes. Maybe a HV would pop round, not SS.

Hugh Grant doctor was odd, great decision to tell her while she's in the middle of labour! And there was not one member of staff who was actually working in that room - insurance anybody?? Surely they'd have just whisked her off for a section so soon after surgery. And I'm pretty sure he was just plain wrong to say she didn't have a choice. I think you can say "I want to see a different doctor" and they have to let you. And they wouldn't put the dad's name on the baby's name tag, only the mum's.

I think the dad of the artist guy probably had an affair with Rohanna which is why he's being so secretive and underhand about it.

I bet there will be a series 2. My predictions:

It will be about 9/10 months in the future because it works for all of the storylines.

Rosie is about to drop or has just given birth to new baby (because obv, she's so super fertile she gets pregnant after one shag twice) and 1yo to contend with. Jude will be all Shock Confused and trying to do his GCSEs. (I can see it's believable though - she doesn't want to go back to school, she's totally besotted with new baby who is so far apparently easy and she's probably thinking if she has 2 kids they'll give her her own council house especially if she'd have turned 16 by then). In fact she'll either be in a council flat or some kind of young mum's hostel because Susie succeeded in persuading her to leave when she found out she was pregnant again. And she'll be on the verge of a breakdown because coping with 2 babies at once isn't as easy and fun as she thought it would be and now she wants to go back to school.

Prison husband just out of jail, some kind of question mark over house. Not sure how mum is supposed to be fighting for it. Perhaps she'll be running a cupcake/"keep calm and carry on" shabby chic merchandise related business while her mum single handedly looks after the twins and two adopted kids, who are about to go off the rails due to absent dad and not being centre of attention because babies. Husband is all awkward and doesn't know how to fit into this new role. Maybe he becomes a stay at home dad and then ponders his masculinity and looks sad a lot.

Rohanna ends up bonding with the FIL because he encourages her secret drinking, fuelled by PND, and they rekindle their affair while she slips into alcoholism and keeps ignoring the baby.

Kim has hugely clingy separation anxiety riddled baby because she never let anybody else touch it in the first few months and is feeling all anxious about going back to work. Is still with Neil who is getting a bit fed up and feels pushed out and wants to tell her to get a grip. Kim will end up feeling sorry for Rosie and tutoring her one to one but they can't study because she's got 2 babies screaming at her all the time. Kim is worried for the babies' health/safety because Rosie obv isn't coping but is too nice to call SS and instead probably gets herself too overinvolved.

Susie is dating but is generally exasperated with going between Rosie's house and trying to work and yelling at Jude at the same time. Jude is failing at his GCSEs but also dating somebody new and ignoring Rosie a bit and Rosie is sad. Kim and Susie bump into each other at Rosie's house and have huge argument and then mad sex on the kitchen table. (OK, maybe not. Not sure BBC is quite brave enough to include lesbian sex in this kind of drama yet.)

Hugh Grant doctor continues to be aloof, selfish, clueless and empathy-less. Giant eyelash woman bats giant eyelashes at him and ignores this while waxing lyrical about what a wonderful not-husband he is. He makes excuses as to why he can't track down this woman but she will conveniently turn up.

Jasmin will have some kind of post-pregnancy problems like SPD which continues after the birth and she will continue to moan about how pregnancy has wrecked her body and it was supposed to end when the baby came out. Her/her husband's family will be pressuring her to have lots more babies (a boy this time) and she'll be saying no way, not ever.

What do you think? Grin

That does sound scarily plausible Bertie Grin

I do rather like the Dr. They did say he was a very good size for a prem.

Some of them seem to have growing/shrinking babies! And I'm sure that wasn't how Jasmin's baby looked last week.

Report
BertieBotts · 11/09/2014 23:36

And isn't Rosie breastfeeding as well, so she'd have to be super duper amazingly fertile to get pregnant after one shag (although I noticed they left the two teenagers alone again just to go to the pointless baby massage class!)

Report
BertieBotts · 11/09/2014 23:37

That baby though was definitely not 6,2. DS was 6,11 and he was smaller. But it's normal TV baby stuff - they don't tend to have real newborns on those programmes because it takes too long to film and they unscrunch too quickly.

Mammuzzamia · 11/09/2014 23:41

"That does sound scarily plausible Bertie grin"

I agree with Polkadots. But I think that it's maybe too plausible for In the Club, and not far fetched enough Grin

I may have already posted to say how awful it was and that I gave up (well I did intend to). But I wanted to see just what awful heights it could scale Grin

They won't do another series...will they?

Doobledootch · 11/09/2014 23:54

thediet sorry I know that was the point I was making a crisp joke about the midwife being sharp enough to be able to put two and two together Blush

How about jasmine is pregnant again but this time it really is the blonde lawyers?

I have to say giant babies is the one thing I forgive them for because I think they just have to use bigger than newborns.

I think for a second series they're going to need to have two or three of them pregnant again, otherwise they're not going to justify the title. My money's on Jasmine and Vicky, and maybe Kim .

Report
BertieBotts · 12/09/2014 08:09

True, maybe they'll have it a year or 18 months on instead then. I think the first second baby we had in our NCT group was conceived when #1 was about 11 months old but then nothing for about 6 months after that. Then they all started having them Grin

Report
Southeastdweller · 12/09/2014 08:11

Very good Bertie, are you a writer?

I'd like to see Jasmine rekindle her affair with the blonde lawyer and get rid of the useless Dev and Kim to have an affair with the lonely Rohanna and Rohanna's F.I.L to get all stalker-y when he finds out about her and Kim.

I hope the nagging Susie doesn't come back though it's been good to see Tara Fitzgerald play someone different.

So much of this was so wrong it made me cringe but the bit that had me howling at the TV was the doctor saying sin-toe-SI-non. Of every single person working on the show, has not one of them been induced?! Surely SOMEONE could have told the actor, er, actually, that's not how it's pronounced...

Report
Mammuzzamia · 13/09/2014 09:51

The doctor! Wouldn't it be slightly...inappropriate for him to remain the official doctor of his girlfriend and the woman carrying his child, then deliver her baby?

Honestly though. Her birth, having to go through labour seconds after coming round from the anaesthetic from an appendicitis operation under GA Shock

It does actually look like another series in the offing. Grin that Rhona has had a relationship in the past with artist bloke's father

Dev is pretty useless. Forgetting the baby!
