Starts tomorrow. Can't wait

OP posts:

Just watched last night's

I can't stand Wayne sleep, he annoys me intensely -they should have sent 2 home

Fiderer · 27/06/2014 12:14

I only started watching this series, having enjoyed the bits they show on Saturday Kitchen. But this seems different - not many of them seem to be able to cook! Do they always send the contestants to a restaurant to cook for paying customers pretty much at the start?

Am concerned I may go back and watch all the previous series, it is strangely addictive Grin

Wayne has a touch of Nosferatu about him, imo.

Jux · 27/06/2014 17:29

Welcome to the new format Fiderer, I think it started last series, fairly recently anyway.

With this celeb series they are really scraping the barrel spoiling it. If the quality of food, ideas etc doesn't buck up then I hope this will be the last.

Get back to professionals and good amateurs, forget the celebs who aren't celebs who pretend they like food but don't really. And if you must promote your daughter's best mate because she's thrown a few dinner parties then do that, but don't do this.

Are you listening Greg?

squoosh · 27/06/2014 19:45

Well I still love Celeb Masterchef, better than boring old Professional Masterchef.

CalamitouslyWrong · 27/06/2014 20:00

Nooooo. Professional masterchef is the true home of pretentious food wankery. And people who think their cooking is amazing and cutting edge when actually it's a bit crap. It's like proper masterchef on coke.

Fiderer · 27/06/2014 20:20

I've never seen Professional Masterchef - wow, another whole new world of fun Grin

I liked the posh one last night saying her mum taught her to "shock a kidney" - at least that's what I heard. Did I mishear? I was imagining the poor kidney being served with oven chips Shock

Halsall · 27/06/2014 20:46

Fiderer, my kidney was certainly shocked by the ineptitude on display last night. Not to mention the rest of me Grin

Am now most displeased to find myself watching 'Stenders while waiting for MC to begin.

squoosh · 27/06/2014 20:52

Calam I will watch the Profs this year as the lovely Marcus is hosting!

Halsall · 27/06/2014 20:53

Anyone with me? Are they REALLY doing this? Surely it's not hard to distinguish between golden syrup, honey, treacle and maple syrup?

squoosh · 27/06/2014 20:55

I'm not sure I'd know the difference between treacle and molasses.

TheSpottedZebra · 27/06/2014 20:56

Does anyone believe that Wayne has never cooked?
Wayne, you are a great dancer, a born hustler - but a crap liar/actor.

Halsall · 27/06/2014 20:57

I might have a fair stab at that. All the others I'd know.

I'm still Shock at the bigging up of this miserable lot by John'n'Gregg. 'Real skill' - really?

Halsall · 27/06/2014 20:58

Zebra, I said up thread that I'd seen him on CDWM. He did cook. It wasn't very good but he did definitely cook!

Fiderer · 27/06/2014 21:01

"Your bacon is salty" - arf.

TheSpottedZebra · 27/06/2014 21:01

Halsall - what a lying little sausage!

WaitMonkey · 27/06/2014 21:03

I've just read Alex Ferns wiki page. He won a celebrity cookery program on ITV in 2010, think it was called Celebrity Burnout. You'd think previously winning a cooking program would make him exempt from another. Hmm

TheSpottedZebra · 27/06/2014 21:05

Nah, not if Denice Van Outen, her off Corrie etc (trained dancers) can go on Strictly, then surely winning another cooking comp is fair game.

CalamitouslyWrong · 27/06/2014 21:05

Evening all. Treacle and molasses would be hard to tell apart.

CalamitouslyWrong · 27/06/2014 21:06

4 American pancakes with bacon is easy.

Halsall · 27/06/2014 21:07

I just found a CDWM page and Wayne was claiming then that he hadn't cooked in 20 years.....obviously he felt that line was too good not to trot out again...

CalamitouslyWrong · 27/06/2014 21:08

Think he claimed not to have cooked in 30 years last night.

CalamitouslyWrong · 27/06/2014 21:09

She's going to go home and get her chef to make American pancakes.

And she'll stay because Greg fancies her, no matter what she does. Not putting a raising agent in America. Pancakes is a basic error.

Jux · 27/06/2014 21:10

Missed the beginning. We are not putting pins in our eyes after all.

CalamitouslyWrong · 27/06/2014 21:11

It's very hard to get molasses in British supermarkets. I always use treacle is a recipe asks for molasses.

Jux · 27/06/2014 21:11

Oh dear. Can I cheat? Yes mate, as we already know you're going home.
