Oooh! Who is Lyanna? I VAGUELY remember her. Is she the one Robert loved? Is Jon Robert and Lyanna's son??!!?!?!?!?!

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 18/06/2014 21:48

I x-posted with you, Anna, by the way! So seems we're independently on to something!

QueenOfThorns · 18/06/2014 21:50

I don't think that people who haven't read the books should click on Zebra's link!

ZebraZeebra · 18/06/2014 21:50

Lyanna is Ned and Brandon Stark's sister, the one Robert was supposed to marry - the one they both talk about and who's tomb they visit in the beginning of Season one.

I don't think the father is supposed to be Robert though. But I don't know..I can barely keep up with the show most weeks!

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 18/06/2014 21:50

OOH! I MUST TELL DH!! I wonder if he'll be annoyed? He never speculates on this stuff. If I asked him who is Jon's father he'd say "Ned. Cos they said so."

Grin
ZebraZeebra · 18/06/2014 21:52

Yes sorry - don't click it if you haven't read the books! I haven't but any potential spoilers were lost on me, but it says at the top of the article MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!

ZebraZeebra · 18/06/2014 21:54

Jesus it's just like checking food labels when I'm feeding DS - may contain nuts. It's a minefield, on both counts!

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 18/06/2014 21:55

I clicked and I haven't read the books, but I feel like I was getting there myself (kinda...sorta...with the help of you lot) so JUST SIMPLY HAD TO click to fill in the speculation holes.

AnnaLegovah · 18/06/2014 22:05

Yes saga! Which makes sense if Jon is Lyanna's! Maybe he's Robert and Lyanna's son? Which would make him...king? Shock Jon is said to look like Ned so there must be some shared blood if hes not his son.

And I've always wondered why Lyanna was murdered during the rebellion - what did she know? Who did she upset? And why?

I could have completely the wrong end of the stick though. The great thing about GOT is the multitude of conspiracy theories Grin

AnnaLegovah · 18/06/2014 22:09

oooh I'm staying away from that link Grin

QueenOfThorns · 18/06/2014 22:11

Sorry to throw a spanner in your works, Anna, but Lyanna and Robert weren't married, making Jon still a bastard if he was their son. If bastards can be king, I think Gendry is older, so surely he'd be the heir instead?

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 18/06/2014 22:17

So I'm being careful because I've read the books, but does anyone remember why Lyanna and Robert didn't get married?

AnnaLegovah · 18/06/2014 22:23

To be fair, queen, all of Robert's kids were bastards Grin I was getting carried away with thoughts of King Jon Snuuuur.

I thought Lyanna and Robert didnt get married because of her death?

QueenOfThorns · 18/06/2014 22:29

I think it would be pretty near impossible for someone to come up with the generally held theory on Jon's parentage from just watching the show. Those of us who have read the books have had far more clues, things that haven't been shown at all on the telly.

AnnaLegovah · 18/06/2014 22:32

Ooh Queen that sounds so mysterious!

Has Jon's parentage been revealed in the books? if so which book? wondering if its something that will be in the next tv series.

MikeLitoris · 18/06/2014 22:42

His parentage isnt revealed in the books but I think it's very heavily hinted at. Especially in book one. I'm only on book 3 though.

AnnaLegovah · 18/06/2014 23:04

Really? I've read book 1 and didnt notice, maybe I need to reread it. Any excuse! Grin

MikeLitoris · 19/06/2014 05:59

Agree with you queen. I had one theory after watching series 1 but that changed after reading the book.

Nessalina · 19/06/2014 07:46

It also doesn't follow that they'll go with the book theory in the show - we've already seen how they like to mess with stuff...
If he was Robert & Lyanna's bastard, that might explain the piercing look Jon Snurr got from Melisandre at the end of the last episode... She's lost Gendry, but is she thinking he's a new source of kings blood?!

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 19/06/2014 08:07

Ooh, yes. Melisandre seemed to know he was important somehow.

QueenOfThorns · 19/06/2014 08:10

Anna, concentrate on Ned's point of view chapters. There are a lot of clues in there!

Don't forget that there's already someone (maybe two someones) of established royal blood at Castle Black!

QueenOfThorns · 19/06/2014 08:13

Actually, considering the rate at which people go around declaring themselves king, probably about 50% of Westeros would do!

hildasmuriel · 19/06/2014 08:41

And Westerosi kings seem to have been pretty free with their favours so lots of illegitimate offspring around.

PopcornFrenzy · 19/06/2014 08:50

If you're interested in Jon's parentage google it, there is one theory that explains quite a lot especially if you're reading the books.

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 19/06/2014 09:52

Yes lyanna's death...but how, why and where did she die?
