Yes where is Bronn?

Am I being a bit thick, when they played the Rains of Castlemere at the end, is that a sign the baddy Lannisters are on top? I got confused because Tyrion is a Lannister too and it's their song isn't it?

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 13/05/2014 06:40

I was so disappointed by Shae although I was expecting it. I don't remember a trial by combat in the book. Poor tyrion! It was just so heartbreaking when he saw Shae walk out. Betrayed so deeply.

catsmother · 13/05/2014 08:12

I ask myself where Bronn is in every episode ...... not that that has anything to do with storylines or anything though.

TunipTheUnconquerable · 13/05/2014 08:54

I think The Rains of Castamere is meant to indicate Lannister ruthlessness. In this case: they're so ruthless they're perfectly happy to destroy one of their own.

mistymeanour · 13/05/2014 08:59

I think a few episodes back Bronn told Tyrion that since he can't afford to pay him anymore,he is accepting a knighthood from the Lannister's. He only seems to appear now when sparring with Jaime.

Lumineer · 13/05/2014 09:13

The preview of next weeks with Sansa and mad auntie Lysa looks pretty scary.

Cooroo · 13/05/2014 13:05

We don't get previews on sky, or 'previously on' though they are shown on HBO in US. I know this because I listen to too many GoT blogs!

5Foot5 · 13/05/2014 13:28

Well Tywin thought he had that all sorted didn't he? Dispatch the son he doesn't care for to the Wall where he might never have to see him again and get the son and heir he does want back at the family seat ready to marry and provide an heir.

Then Tyrion wrong foots things completely by demanding trial by combat. If he gets to choose a champion to fight for him then potentially he could choose Jaime and Tywin stands to lose both sons!

But they just can't kill off Tyrion. They can't!!!

DH has a theory that Bronn must have betrayed Tyrion because he was supposed to see Shea safely on to a ship. So what went wrong?

Oh and loving Mark Gatiss as one of the Iron Bankers or whatever they are called. Very well cast.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 13/05/2014 14:56

I'm wondering if the Bronn/Jamie spar scenes have been foreshadowing...

Bronn for Tyrion.

Jamie for The Lannisters, which hurts Tyrion but demanded by Cersei.

Chopsypie · 13/05/2014 16:20

I don't think it is foreshadowing. Illyn Payne was supposed to be the one sparring with Jamie, but the actor who plays him has cancer, so couldn't act in this series.
That doesn't mean the shows producers haven't added foreshadowing that wasn't in the original story.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 13/05/2014 16:29

Oh. Confused

My theories are always wrong! Grin

Tywin probably wouldn't let Jamie fight anyway.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 13/05/2014 17:13

I wondered if the sparring was foreshadowing too, but yes, I can see that Tywin isn't likely to let Jaime fight on either side. He could end up losing both sons, or (possibly worse from his perspective) losing Jaime and being left with Tyrion.

limitedperiodonly · 13/05/2014 20:02

The Theon storyline is tragic. Both of them are really good actors. I can hardly bear to watch Ramsay Snow, but he's too good to miss.

The acting from lots of people was really good. Peter Dinklage - Tyrion is mine, btw - Charles Dance, the bloke who plays Lord Varys and the one who plays Oberyn. And I really liked Mark Gatiss.

Chopsypie · 13/05/2014 20:30

Apparently they made Alfie Allen (who plays theon) audition as 'reek' so they knew he could do it

TulipOHare · 14/05/2014 10:10

I don't remember a trial by combat in the book

You don't?! Grin

If he gets to choose a champion to fight for him then potentially he could choose Jaime

IIRC a member of the Kingsguard cannot fight "against" the crown, so Jaime would not be in the running. I'm not sure he'd be a good choice anyway with his sword hand missing.

I have just caught up with the two latest episodes - thought the trial was brilliantly done, especially Tyrion at the end, what a great bit of acting. Theon too.

I also liked that they showed Hodor confused and upset by realising his body had been used to kill a man. Nice little touch there - a human cost to Bran's warging, even if it is sometimes necessary for the group's survival.

We don't get previews on sky,

StudyFullTime · 19/05/2014 21:55

Wasn't expecting that Shock

ThreeLannistersOneTargaryen · 19/05/2014 21:56

I thought Mockingbird was really good.

TulipOHare · 19/05/2014 23:25

Why no episode next week, anybody know?

Swex · 19/05/2014 23:26

Great episode. Shocking end!

fireandblood · 19/05/2014 23:29

Its memorial day in America.

Loved that episode, love the hound and arya. I actually started cheering Hot Pie Hot Pie when he came on the telly! Now just need to figure out what they done with the other one forgot his name but King Roberts son last seen with Melisandre.

Tapirbackrider · 19/05/2014 23:51

You mean Gendry, fire?

Last seen in a boat, heading away from Stannis and being burned alive...

Cooroo · 20/05/2014 05:49

Thanks for the tip MuddlingMackem - I'll avoid that! Being a book reader is spoiler enough!

Tapirbackrider - burned alive?? Did I miss something?

Loved that episode! Every Tyrion scene was perfect. Are they shipping Melisandre and Selyse? I got the distinct impression Sense would...

Chopsypie · 20/05/2014 09:07

That scene with Tyrion and Oberyn was amazing.

OhCobblers · 20/05/2014 09:40

I thought Ser Davos freed Gendry from his cell and sent him off in a boat?!
