I'm still stupidly excited about the 'new' Troughton episodes, but just to add to the fun, Watch are showing some seriously classic episodes today from 2pm. Any else watching? And what are you looking forward to as we approach the anniversary episode and beyond?

Mind blown!

Oh oh oh oh to Capaldi's eeeeeeyeeeees! Fuck me if he can do that with one look what the hell are we in for? I LOVE him!

SuedeEffectPochette · 24/11/2013 22:38

This thread is too long to read through! I liked the episode. I liked the bit where the dalek got turfed out of the time war into the modern room in the museum - did anyone else notice that? - is that then the dalek from one of the earlier episodes where it is in a sort of museum and Rose regenerates it?!! Plus - this looking for lost Gallifrey thing - is it perhaps, hidden in the painting??!!

moonshine · 24/11/2013 23:07

Was anyone else at ExCel today at the Dr Who Expo and watched the panel discussion - Matt, Smith, Jenna Colman and Stephen Moffat (and the director whose name I can't remember!) - discussing yesterday's episode? It was brilliant and it's the first time I've truly thought Matt was actually rather lush.

But cannot wait for the Christmas episode. They (especially Matt) were all in hysterics for ages about a certain line Clara has in the Xmas episode about herself. The only clue was that it included the word 'bubbly'.

Davros · 24/11/2013 23:23

David Tennant first said "wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff" in Blink. I think the MNer's DH was quoting

AnAdventureInCakeAndWine · 24/11/2013 23:25

MumofYuck, you mean before it was used by DT in "Blink"?

ThreeFromDesire · 25/11/2013 01:09

Cheeky Tardis

Loved it but ds was very confused about TB being old. I'm liking the 'blending in' explanation so will peddle that to him tomorrow. Thanks.

MumofYuck · 25/11/2013 06:16

Aww, I was hoping that DW was quoting MN and not the other way round! What a shame.

Thanks for clearing that up anyway!

SoupDragon · 25/11/2013 07:04

I would have thought that CE's first reaction to JH would have been a very bad one...

I agree.

MavisKorvarian · 25/11/2013 07:14

Can we still Tardis?

MavisKorvarian · 25/11/2013 07:16

Yay!

Tardis Tardis Tardis

Anyhoo, have loved all things Who this last week or so and am stupidly excited about the Christmas episode and the 12th.

However, thoughts must now turn to series 3 of Sherlock...

HarrietJonesPrimeMinister · 25/11/2013 07:20

Start a thread Mavis will meet you there!

ItsBiggerOnTheInside · 25/11/2013 07:21

Tardis yay!

ItsBiggerOnTheInside · 25/11/2013 07:21

When is Sherlock starting?

MavisKorvarian · 25/11/2013 07:31

I have no idea when it's starting although they're showing season 2 again on BBC3 (again) from the end of this week?

I have to go to work now, but will do some research and start a thread later (if no-one does first!)

FrankelInFoal · 25/11/2013 08:06

They haven't announced a broadcast date for Sherlock yet. It'll probably be over Christmas/New Year as the US has a broadcast date of mid-January.

aliciaflorrick · 25/11/2013 08:40

I think my DS(9) is probably going to be the only voice of discontent on the thread, but he hated the episode. So much so that he burst into tears at the end of it because he was so disappointed. He'd got so excited for it and then just hated it all. He didn't like the Zygons at all and wanted scarier monsters for the anniversary episode.

We watched it a second time yesterday morning and DS1 and I thought it was okay, although we both found DT really irritating as the Doctor, but thought John Hurt was fab - "Do you have to talk like children?" brilliant.

DS2 is now hoping for more monsters in the Christmas special.

Buggedoff · 25/11/2013 09:33

I think it was an episode for Whovians and generally aimed more at adults. I liked the fact that there was rather more acting than usual, and less special effects. I was also rather pleased that the doctors couldn't use their sonic screwdriver to get out of every seemingly inescapable situation. They actually had to use the plot instead.

John Hurt was just brilliant.

SoupDragon · 25/11/2013 10:01

I did love the fact that MSs screwdriver had the door solution because it was 400 years older than JHs.
And then Clara just opened it because it wasn't locked :)

PaulMcGannsMistress · 25/11/2013 10:17

alicia, from what I understand, there are many more monsters i the Christmas episode :)

Weegiemum · 25/11/2013 12:11

Here, we liked it. Lots.

Although our favourite bit was when DT talked to the rabbit in the forest! This is because the rabbit was an amazing duplicate of our rabbit! We had no idea that Speedy McReadie (our bun) had been auditioning!

Need to watch again to figure out all the plot twists. I'm not very good at that.

Didn't think it lived up to Steven Moffats best (Library episodes, Girl in the Fireplace) but still, very clever.

Gracelo · 25/11/2013 12:16

I wish they would have got Cate Blanchett to play Elizabeth. That would have been totally awesome.

cornflakegirl · 25/11/2013 12:41

I'm joining the dissenters - DH and I didn't really like it either. Lots of brilliant elements and little nods that we enjoyed, and John Hurt was fantastic, but it didn't feel very coherent.

wearingpurple · 25/11/2013 12:41

Moonshine, we were at ExCel yesterday! Were you an Ice Warrior or a Weeping Angel? Best bit of our panel discussion with Matt (yes, lush) Smith was when they flashed up an unexpected still of him and he said he looked as if he'd been kicked in the balls by an angry gorilla Grin. They all apologised for being massively hungover.

Dds got their photo taken with Jenna Coleman who was really lovely.

sherbetpips · 25/11/2013 13:08

thought the baddies were rubbish although they did typify how dodgy most of the baddies were in the early years. Glad it wasnt the angels though, as I did suspect them when there were all those covered up statues...... (chill down spine)
Queen was very dodgy, strange choice off actress for that part but oh well.
