I'm still stupidly excited about the 'new' Troughton episodes, but just to add to the fun, Watch are showing some seriously classic episodes today from 2pm. Any else watching? And what are you looking forward to as we approach the anniversary episode and beyond?

Um, well, DT and qe1 were married long enough to have a portrait painted so, y'know....

I wouldn't have read the shoes that way.

SoupDragon · 24/11/2013 19:39

Craig's piles are clearly playing up.

SoupDragon · 24/11/2013 19:40

LOLOL wrong thread :)

TheDoctrineOfWho · 24/11/2013 19:41

They might have been the Hans Christian Anderson shoes, if they aren't river's.

PaulMcGannsMistress · 24/11/2013 19:45

Really sorry to hear you didn't like it, Zygons. Maybe it'll be one you learn to appreciate, even if you never love it :)

Tee2072 · 24/11/2013 19:47

LOL Soup. I am not hunting down the thread you meant to post on.

I'm guessing its strictly! Grin

SoupDragon · 24/11/2013 19:53

Yes, Strictly :)

FCEK · 24/11/2013 19:59

Just watched it on catch up.

I love david tennant :)

I thought it would be better than it was.

I'm also peeved that the 9th doctor didn't return. I know Chris doesn't want to do it again, but seriously, one scene would have been nice of him.

Tee2072 · 24/11/2013 20:03

I'm watching it again right now.

Would have made more sense if it had been 9 rather than 10.

Booo to Eccelston.

But I still love it.

TheDoctrineOfWho · 24/11/2013 20:09

Tee, why do you think that? Cos CE was more tortured?

You haven't watched any Matt smith episode yet you don't see how lin

TheDoctrineOfWho · 24/11/2013 20:12

..liking a doctor affects liking the show?

Does not compute...

Tee2072 · 24/11/2013 20:20

It just makes more sense that Hurt's Doctor would be drawn to Eccelston's because he's the next regeneration.

And yes, because he was more tortured.

I would have thought that CE's first reaction to JH would have been a very bad one...

Buggedoff · 24/11/2013 21:48

Loved the episode, but I think it would have been great as a Christmas special, because the story line took so much from A Christmas Carol. Unlike many of you, I quite liked the ghostly Rose, and the fact that her incarnation was so far removed from her character as a companion.

AnAdventureInCakeAndWine · 24/11/2013 21:51

bialystock, the Tom Baker curator is a far-future Doctor who's decided to go for the old familiar face again

needthemoney, the whole not-Virgin Queen thing was written into an earlier episode by RTD, so SM was just working it in as one of the whole series of references to the past and it's a bit harsh to blame him specifically.

Skully, how do you know that you HATE Matt Smith as the Doctor if you've only ever seen one episode with him in? That just sounds odd.

Buggedoff · 24/11/2013 21:53

Although of course there already was A Christmas Carol special episode.

AnAdventureInCakeAndWine · 24/11/2013 21:53

Yes, I was pleasantly surprised that Billie Piper wasn't playing Rose.

Davros · 24/11/2013 22:00

I thought the casting of Liz I was wrong. Tardis

alemci · 24/11/2013 22:20

yes very much like Christmas Carol with rose like one of the ghosts. the queen was trying to be miranda Richardson playing qe1

MumofYuck · 24/11/2013 22:33

Just watched it with DH. Awesome!

Maybe I am mis-remembering, but wasn't the 'timey-wimey' phrase first uttered by the DH of a mumsnetter? I dimly remember a thread where someone said her DH gravely turned to her and said 'wibbly wobbly timey wimey' when she was grumbling about plot holes.

I'd love to believe that the BBC stole appropriated it Grin
