It's a bit soon for me to have an opinion yet, but it looks interesting enough that I'm recording it to watch later with DH...

Ooh, Teej, interesting - a medium rather than a prostitute, then. Interesting!

Well, Liz, I know it's French, but the daughter seemed very relaxed about her dad seeing a prostitute for the third time in the space of that week, or whatever it was. And the bar owner seemed to be very relaxed about his barmaid stepping away to earn extra cash on the premises when she was supposed to be working her shift. She didn't hand the bar owner cash, I don't think, so it wasn't a pimp type arrangement. So I just got the vibe that she was actually a medium and the daughter was resigned about her dad constantly trying to contact her (as we now know) dead twin...

Also - if that is correct, maybe she couldn't "reach" Camille because Camille was returning at the time!

Oooh a medium, that makes sense.

Perhaps he couldn't reach Camille because, as others have said, Lena was the one who died in the crash?

On a scale of 0 to The Shining how scary is this?

Report
teejwood · 10/06/2013 12:37

Good point Sunny - did the girls swap places so Camille could be with the boy and it was actually Lena who died? The line about telling them apart could indicate that. But then if Lucy and the dad felt they have been successful in "reaching" Camille on other occasions does that mean it was actually Camille on the bus? Confused

totally missed the prostitute/clairvoyant thing... and YYY re the revenant butterfly, completely failed to spot what was going on there.

teejwood · 10/06/2013 12:39

Chub it depends what scares you. The undead don't look undead iykwim, so it's a bit more psychological. A bit like Sixth Sense in that respect.

I know it's French, but... :o teej

I will give it a go on 4OD. I am generally fine with blood and gore but dead children upset me.

Chub, you will find it v scary I think!

'I know its French but....' hahahahahaah!

On scale of 0-Shining I would say it is around Shaun of the Dead but it is very good at making you think SOMETHING really creepy is about to happen.

Loving all these theories, can't wait to tell DH!

The one about the bargirl being a medium is brilliant!

Report
BaconAndAvocado · 10/06/2013 13:29

spero, you're right about the less is more approach to scary telly.

Apart from the creepy small boy it isn't all that explicitly scary IMO but overall is incredibly chilling and shocking.

Want next Sunday to come round extra vite!

Its really underscoring just how CREEPY little children can be. All the poor little boy has done has just sat in silence but it is quite terrifying.

Do you think he has some strange power? The woman was going to speak to the police but hung up after he gave her a stare with his big eyes.

Haunting, wasn't it?

Mr Costa is possibly going to be the key to this. As others up thread have said he had photos/ a shrine on his wall to the dead. All of them by accident, murder or suicide (?) and the butterfly returned to life in his house.

IMO the reason Adele wouldn't answer the door was because she had (understandably) had MH problems caused by her fiance's death on her wedding day, when pregnant. Didn't she say something about it happening again to her DH?

I wondered if Camille / Lena had swapped places on that day too. Hence Lena drinking so much at the bar and sneaking home, which was obviously a regular occurrence. She felt she should have died too, on that fateful day.

Victor is very sinister.

The underpass scene was horrific.

Was the barmaid a pros, though? There seemed to be a line that she was sorry it hadn't worked this time, when speaking with Camille's dad, so I got the impression maybe she was a medium or something?

DH though she was a mediu too. DD and I had both assumed prostitute but I think medium sounds more likely.

See the creepy little children thing could freak me out. My children sometimes appear silently looming over me in the middle of the night. Scares the bejeezoos out of me.

Report
Spero · 10/06/2013 14:07

Ah. May not be the best for you then.

This creepy child can apparently move through glass doors and doesn't want anyone calling the police. This is not boding well.

I think she's a medium who has to sleep with someone in order to make the connection. So a medium who has to have sex with clients.

aliasjoey · 10/06/2013 14:25

missed the first 10 minutes, and it sounds like we missed some important bits?!

the barmaid (the one who got stabbed) and Camille's dad - what happened?

and was there something at the beginning to say the wee boy was a murder victim?

Also - what made Simon go to the cemetry - I thought they didn't realise they were dead?

I think the twin swap thing is a red herring. I think camille is camille and lena is lena.

  1. Because Camille was not happy about Lena staying off, so why would she carry on with the name swap? They didn't seem to be in cahoots at all.

  1. I think Camille was upset that Lena was shagging that boy, because as Lena said, Camille was in love with him and it wasn't fair for them to be shagging.

Loved it, feeling very spoilt for creepy thrillers between this, The Fall, and Luther coming back next month!

I couldn't work out what the relationship was between Camille's mum and the 'doctor' who didn't appear to be a doctor at all. He had the presence of a church leader-type of figure and seemed remarkably non-plussed about a dead child reappearring. Did he also lose a child? If so wouldn't his first reaction have been to run home and check? If not, why was he at the meeting?
