It's a bit soon for me to have an opinion yet, but it looks interesting enough that I'm recording it to watch later with DH...

Blondes, shed had visions when he died though - by all accounts from references from her daughter and fiancee had had more than one psychotic episode. Be vicar probably thought it was another and trying to help. No way would he say "oh yes, he's back from the dead"!!

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 16/06/2013 22:51

ah, mrsdevere, i've been worried about you, if you would watch this, how you would feel about it...

smokinaces · 16/06/2013 22:53

Mrsdevere, I think my friend would the same as you. Live as if it were real, not want them to leave in case it weren't. Just holding them, smelling them. I think the mother is very good at getting that across, I do like the acting there.

smokinaces · 16/06/2013 22:53

Apologies for my awful typos tonight!!

MrsSiba · 16/06/2013 22:54

Simon looks like the Irish actor from The Misfits

PacificDogwood · 16/06/2013 22:55

Ok.
Here are my fabulously insightful conclusions from today's epidsode:

Returned people cannot be killed again - I bet we are going to see more of that wolf/dog.
Victor is Julie's younger brother, her scars are self-harming scar. She is a tormented soul as she feels guilty about her brother's death.
Both twins hair is just gorgeous Envy.
Yy to more evidence that the dam/water are a pivotal plot device.
The Nosey Neighbour is surely going to come to some sort of sticky end, non?
The Returned cannot sleep, I think. Sleep being the Small Death (and they cannot die again?)

Shock at woman in cafe being one of Them - that totally explains her non-reaction. I had not spotted that.

Luscious Serge is much hotter than Simon Grin.

smokinaces · 16/06/2013 22:55

Yes mrssiba, almost like a Jamie cullum and Simon from misfits merged clone.

ScrambledSmegs · 16/06/2013 22:56

I wonder how Simon died? Did I miss something?

MrsDV Sad I think that part of this programme feels particularly true. Not that I would know, but it feels right to me. Thanks

PacificDogwood · 16/06/2013 22:57

MrsDV (hug) - yes, I like the acting there too.

Generally, I don't think that there is enough hysterical reacting going on. Nobody has taken a pulse yet!! Are the Returned warm to touch? I presume so, but we've not been told

smokinaces · 16/06/2013 22:58

They didnt explain scrambled as far as I could see. He's come back in the clothes he died in, his wedding outfit. Maybe it were car crash. Or indeed suicide :-( maybe that's a future. Maybe he was killed by the serial killer???!!

OfficialSweetieMonitor · 16/06/2013 22:59

People in shock seem to walk very slowly...

OfficialSweetieMonitor · 16/06/2013 23:01

Will Julie's fiancee keep quiet because he doesn't want Simon to disrupt wedding?

PacificDogwood · 16/06/2013 23:02

The stabbed waitress in the underpass - was she a Returned too? I thought she was well dead after that attack, but then she ended up not to be Confused

SweetestThing · 16/06/2013 23:03

I'm still not convinced that the twin who died wasn't Lena rather than Camille and that they had swapped for the day. When the two sisters argued at breakfast in this week's episode, Camille said something like 'Who would I be if I weren't me?'.

OfficialSweetieMonitor · 16/06/2013 23:03

Do French teenagers not have jobs or go to college? They spend all their time playing pool...

OfficialSweetieMonitor · 16/06/2013 23:04

But why would she continue the charade now? Plus, at home in own room etc...

PacificDogwood · 16/06/2013 23:05

I think Simon reacted very oddly to finding out that Adele was pregnant - not happy, not upset in a general "oh, it's too early/I am not ready for fatherhood/you told me you took the pill" kinda way, but as if finding out that an offspring of his was on the way was an unlivable with tragedy: inherited illness or something?? I think he killed himself Sad

PacificDogwood · 16/06/2013 23:06

Why did Camille destroy Lena's room?
Was it Camille?

More questions posed by this episode, than answered Confused

Lurleene · 16/06/2013 23:11

PacificDogwood When I saw Julie's scars I thought maybe she had been a victim of the underpass attacker?

VivaLeBeaver · 16/06/2013 23:14

Maybe the girl in the underpass wasn't a returnee from ages ago but is a returnee now iykwim?

So she dies last week, but returned before anyone found the body and the injuries hadn't had time to fade as it was so recent.

Saying that other people look remarkably well for having had traumatic deaths. Camille plunged off a cliff in a bus but doesn't have a mark on her, so they must heal while they're dead.

VivaLeBeaver · 16/06/2013 23:15

Yes, I thought that maybe Julie had previously survived the underpass attacker.

ScrambledSmegs · 16/06/2013 23:23

I thought that too, about Julie. They looked like they were in the same sort of pattern as the ones on Lucy's body.

On the subject of Lucy - something she said early on in the first episode struck me as quite odd. When she was getting dressed after possibly having had sex with Lena's father (Jerome? I'm getting the hang of the names now), she said something that was translated as 'Don't worry, it doesn't work every time'. Now, I took that at first as meaning it in the snurk sex fail meaning. But I remember a weird sort of disconnect in my head - the french sounded wrong, IYKWIM? Like she was saying that it was something she did that didn't work every time. Of course this is coming from someone who doesn't really parlez francais proper-like Grin. Feel free to ignore...

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 16/06/2013 23:26

PacificDogwood I thought that re Simon and the pregnancy, that maybe there's some sort of inherited illness? I'm pretty sure he killed himself.

ScrambledSmegs · 16/06/2013 23:36

Yes, I think I agree that Simon did kill himself. Maybe because of inherited illness, maybe something else?
