It's a bit soon for me to have an opinion yet, but it looks interesting enough that I'm recording it to watch later with DH...

OP posts:

Maybe she is a returnee too?? She doesn't sleep, hence being on call as a nurse to mr Costa. Maybe she is a returned.

girliefriend · 16/06/2013 22:04

So the woman who has 'adopted' the freaky boy is a Dr? Does all the scars mean she was the last murder victim - so is she dead? Confused
still

LizTerrine · 16/06/2013 22:05

No, because the returned haven't aged, so he's not her son. Possible that she lost a child who would be the same age, though?

smokinaces · 16/06/2013 22:06

Next weeks is entitled Julie. She is indeed a returnee herself!

smokinaces · 16/06/2013 22:07

Maybe she gave a child up for adoption. He later died, she was unaware, and wouldnt know what he looked like. Then as returneds they found each other.....

SweetestThing · 16/06/2013 22:08

I recognised the woman in the cafe as the one who was tied up yesterday, so the revenants can't be killed again, maybe?

Strange that no one in the town has recognised either Camille or Simon. Simon especially would have known lots of people, what with playing in the band and everything.

Victor is very scary.

I have no theories because I am bound to be wrong :)

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/06/2013 22:12

sweetishthing - thats what i thought, no one remembered simon, yet he was in a band and died on his wedding day - surely a small town would rem him even 10 years ago

i assumed doc was on call to mr costa as she was a doc Grin

AmandinePoulain · 16/06/2013 22:14

If they can't die again how did the wolf die twice?

I thought the bar owner was the father? Confused

VenusStarr · 16/06/2013 22:16

In really enjoying this. It's creepy but engaging. Lots of questions though. I was holding a cup of tea and the bit with the barman and his brother (?) made me jump and spill it over myself!

Looking forward to next week. I'm also taping them so might rewatch just to see the bits I've missed, as I'm sure there are lots :)

I'm very impressed with all the good tv that's been on recently, makes a nice change :)

Picoo · 16/06/2013 22:21

I am hooked on this now, even OH is hooked and he is not a telly fan. Going to have to watch the first episode online asap.

smokinaces · 16/06/2013 22:23

If you saw someone in the street that died ten years ago, who hadn't aged at all, you would tell yourself it were a figment of your imagination. A fleeting resemblance. They are dead. They havent aged. No one would think it were them as such.

Maybe wolf isn't dead...... Maybe we have to wait a while.

I thought stabbed girl from last week was dead, but this week she had a pulse. So maybe she was a returnee too??

Father is bar owner, that guy the manager i think.

ScrambledSmegs · 16/06/2013 22:24

A-ha! I knew there'd be a thread somewhere.

Victor is fricking creepy. I'm pretty sure he's loooong dead. His clothes are quite non-descript, but I'd have described them as slightly 70's/80's, could be earlier. So probably not Julie's(?) child. Why he's latched onto her, I have no idea.

Didn't Mme Costa die a long time ago too? Haven't seen much of her since her husband chucked himself off the dam. Why did he throw himself off the dam anyway?

Pretty sure the brother (?) of the barman is the serial killer. And I think that the reason that the barman said 'no, it's not possible' when confronted with the picture of Lucy is that he knows his brother was the serial killer, and he probably had something to do with his death.

Simon is gorgeous. His eyebrows are hypnotic.

Why are they so hungry if they're not zombies? What's with the water level at the dam and the water in the church?

Aaaargh, so many questions!

smokinaces · 16/06/2013 22:27

Maybe victor is julies younger brother?? Died a long time ago??

ScrambledSmegs · 16/06/2013 22:27

The woman in the cafe today was Mme Costa - she was in the photos in his house. I noticed as he was setting fire to it Sad

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 16/06/2013 22:27

oooh, what was the water in the church? i've missed that.

ScrambledSmegs · 16/06/2013 22:29

There was a weird watery noise when Adele's daughter was alone in the church, and then when she went to the toilet some dirty water came up and filled the sink.

SweetestThing · 16/06/2013 22:30

When Adele's daughter was washing her hands in the church, no water came out of the taps but then this brown water came bubbling up the plug hole.

LizTerrine · 16/06/2013 22:31

Who does Simon look like? He reminds me of someone.

Aitch, the water in the church is definitely lending credence to the dam theories...it's obviously pivotal. Drowned village?

SweetestThing · 16/06/2013 22:31

Simon reminds me a bit of Marc Bolan.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 16/06/2013 22:37

oh yes i remember now... blerk. do like this show. reckon i've seen Julie already, still not disappointed. (rare)

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/06/2013 22:42

if my dead hubby (sadly i do have one) suddenly appeared to me alive, there is no way i would take the advice of a priest and stay calm and talk to him as if he was real

i would freak :(

seems the only one freaking was lena, the others have accepted their loved dead ones have returned

MrsMargoLeadbetter · 16/06/2013 22:43

Am really enjoying it.

LizTerrine I think he looks like Jamie Cullum: themusicapocalypse.files.wordpress.com/2013/02/jamie-cullum.jpg

Simon: www.channel4.com/assets/programmes/images/the-returned/simon/c1abf00c-fe82-47c6-a435-80265504c62f_412x232.jpg

ScrambledSmegs · 16/06/2013 22:44

What's the name of Camille's mother's new boyfriend? Pierre?

He's a bit overly keen to see religious elements in this, he's mentioned a 'precedent' once or twice and looked well chuffed about it. Is he supposed to be a bit fanatical?

As an aside, I thought the translation of this weeks episode had improved a little. My french isn't brilliant, but even I could see that a lot of the subtlety and poetry had been lost last week.

ScrambledSmegs · 16/06/2013 22:46

Blondes, I think M. Costa probably freaked. Not really sure what happened there. I suppose we'll find out?

smokinaces · 16/06/2013 22:47

Mrsmargo, you beat me to it. He is a dead ringer (boom boom) for Jamie cullum!!!
