It's a bit soon for me to have an opinion yet, but it looks interesting enough that I'm recording it to watch later with DH...

OP posts:
LtEveDallas · 12/06/2013 09:23

Surely ONE episode ahead isn't going to tell you much anyway - wouldn't it be a bit crap if ALL the mysteries were solved next week? Grin

(and posting I've seen you doing it on other threads is a bit passive agressive and snidey for what was a fun and interesting thread about a bloody TV programme. Way to spoil the mood)

AnneEyhtMeyer · 12/06/2013 09:35

Oh right, I'm the bad guy because someone wants to boast. Fine.

And WTF is a "dementor"? Obviously you want me gone, so I'll leave you to your name-calling.

I am obsessed with Mr. Costa. I have a theory he's the local teacher, cos he was burning school pics. That would explain the "Mr" part. Everyone calls him Mr Costa because they are all his past pupils.

Sooo..a school bus goes over the edge, he jumps into the reservoir too.

Why not just kill himself in the house with his wife/daughter/girlfriend?

He knows something about the reservoir, and it was his butterfly that came to life.

He's key. I'm sure of it.

LtEveDallas · 12/06/2013 09:50

No Anne, you're the 'bad guy' (no-one actually said that) for bringing down a fun thread.

Aitch hasn't posted any spoilers, hasn't boasted at all, hasn't ruined it for anyone.

Anyway.

Having read the Homeopathy thread this morning I completly agree with Bore - that's a FAB theory - and my addition:

"The water level is dropping because the charletons homeopaths are busy making remedies from it and bottling all the "dead body goodness" as a treatment for dandruff"

Hullygully · 12/06/2013 09:53

It will be disappointing tho.

Anything with a supernatural explanation is always silly in the end.

And I really really don't want to watch a young woman have her stomach ripped apart.

flatmum · 12/06/2013 09:58

I also thought that about Mr Costa, was he the old headmaster hence always known as Mr Costa. Also liking the homeopathy theory as there is definitely something going on with the water

I like this show and am already finding it more engaging and, strangely, more believable than the Fall. Although thinking about it, if a load of dead people turned up in a small town and started openly walking around I reckon it would be only a matter of hours before it was surrounded by Sky News helicopters.

NishiNoUsagi · 12/06/2013 10:09

BoreofWhabylon

"the water in the dam holds the memory of people who died and reconstitutes them when the time is right."

Shock

Does this mean that Mr Costa threw himself into the dam because he knew this, and knew he would be able to come back at some point?? Shock

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/06/2013 10:21

So far only the members of each family know their loved ones have come back?

Wonder if cecilles body was found in the crash? Or all burned so assumed were dead

Hopefully no aliens in this Grin

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/06/2013 11:02

I must admit I hadn't thought of that Mishi, but yes, that is further evidence for my Homeopathic Dam theory, so thank you Smile.

Also, homeopathy is very popular In France!

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/06/2013 11:05

And YY to LtEve too! Clearly, Mr Costa had used the water on the butterfly and then... used it on the photos!!!!

And now, all the people in the photos are coming back (as well as those already in the dam)!!!

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 12/06/2013 11:17

sorted - don't think I need to watch the rest of the series now Grin

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/06/2013 11:34

No, we have to keep watching to see how long it takes them to work it out for themselves. Also, we don't know who Victor is yet.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 12/06/2013 11:41

i think i'm the worm-eating dementor btw, Anne, don't sweat it, and don't leave. Smile i won't post any spoilers, i promise. actually, the publicity material (in all papers, unavoidable) says that it will concentrate on different stories at different times, so it's very episodic in that sense. all Major Theories totally remain up for grabs regardless, it looks like.

LOVE the homeopathic stuff. but there's a certain part of me wants this all to remain unexplained and just have it be how people react to having a person they've mourned for pop back into their at-least-partially-rebuilt lives.

Abra1d · 12/06/2013 12:11

There seems to be a theme of large engineering projects in homeopathic remedies on MN today. Berlin Walls, dams.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 12/06/2013 12:15

did i mention they scare the shit out of me? it's all that contained energy, i think, just looming, waiting to burst. which is why the memory of water thing is really intriguing as a theory, i think...

whoever pointed out that all the houses are modern, i think that's a great observation... totally hadn't noticed it but right next door to a dam it does suggest that it's been built to compensate for something.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 12/06/2013 12:17

btw did Mr Costa throw himself into the dam or off the other side, onto the grass?

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/06/2013 12:28

whoever pointed out that all the houses are modern, i think that's a great observation... totally hadn't noticed it but right next door to a dam it does suggest that it's been built to compensate for something.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 12/06/2013 12:32

now, don't get boasty...

gazzalw · 12/06/2013 12:36

It wouldn't surprise me at all if a village wasn't 'drowned' when the dam was built - that might explain why all the houses are modern....

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/06/2013 12:37
Grin

It's likely that my predictions will be completely wrong about everything and it will turn out to be all due to aliens (crashed spaceship at the bottom of the lake, dam built as part of massive government cover-up etc etc)

gazzalw · 12/06/2013 12:47

The French aren't generally as unsubtle as that, in their script-writing, are they BoreOfWhabylon????

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 12/06/2013 12:48

BoreOfWhabylon noooooooo please don't let it be something utterly ridiculous like that

gazzalw · 12/06/2013 12:50

It could of course all be a dream....

Spero · 12/06/2013 13:23

and what is significance of every home apparently painted the same dark green colour? or was that just the generally very gloomy lighting? Or is this the new elephants breath and I am just very behind the times decor wise?
