Watched it last night. Tis good, but disturbing. Gillian Anderson very good. Jamie Dornan scary. Anyone else see it?

Gillian Anderson - as far as I know is British and lived in the States for some time. That's why she can do the accent. I seem to remember she was a Punk or something in her yoof.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 15/05/2013 08:00

I meant the N.I accents. They are usually charicatures.

UseHerName · 15/05/2013 08:09

Loved the accents! And the genuine shots of Belfast!

Can't wait for the next episode

lovelychops · 15/05/2013 10:06

I noticed the abundance of ex Hollyoakers in the cast! Maybe most of the budget went on GA?
Enjoyable but disturbing!

BaconAndAvocado · 15/05/2013 11:38

GA's skin is bootiful for her age!!

Jamie Dornan is most comely, well, for a family man type serial killer....

Shaping up to be a great drama, and, thankfully didn't think it was too graphic. Less is more as they say.

FairPhyllis · 15/05/2013 15:54

I think GA is fantastic as always, but I got very disturbed and upset by the violence at the end. I hope there is going to be less of the sexual violence voyeurism.

hollyisalovelyname · 16/05/2013 19:00

Gillian Anderson looks better now than in her X Files days.

OMG can't wait for the next episode.

So glad I've found this thread!

NoSnowJustSand · 17/05/2013 16:08

Just finished watching the first episode. Definitely some sort of former relationship with GA and that senior policeman, the way he looked up at his wife in the house was a definite giveaway. Then she covered her face with her hands; would expect a more huffy response from her character.

Salbertina · 17/05/2013 16:39

Was v gripping. Actually believe GA is American but lived years as a child and since as adult in UK, hence accent (which i believe is her "natural" one)

Also gripped by this. Killer's identity bound to be given away by his DS saying he woke up to find Daddy not there in the middle of the night. Genius alibi but I find that the most disturbing thing that he goes out killing and leaves his kids home alone whilst his wife is out at work! And also didn't the DS mention he called his phone and mummy's phone - I'm surprised she wouldn't find it strange to have received several calls from the house during the evening whilst she was at work?! GA is great, I was really ready not to like her in it for some reason but thought she was great. Can't wait for Monday now!

HeavenlyYoni · 19/05/2013 09:05

Is the greenhouse shot Kew Gardens, or is there a similar place in NI?

cocolepew · 19/05/2013 10:14

It's Botanic Gardens in Belfast Heavenly.

HeavenlyYoni · 19/05/2013 13:20

Thanks, it looks very similar to Kew!

Noseynoonoo · 19/05/2013 23:12

Hmmmm, I'm not sure that I want to keep watching this. I'm becoming disturbed by the amount of drama that revolves around the killing of young women. The killing in this instance was explicit. Just not comfortable with it. Think DH wants to watch it though.

hollyisalovelyname · 20/05/2013 00:09

Sinister stuff. Watched 2nd episode.

OP posts:
wintera · 20/05/2013 11:52

I think the son said he'd called his Mum's mobile but had got the number wrong so she wouldn't have actually received the phone calls. The murderer character is being incredibly risky leaving his kids alone at night. Especially with the daughter having night terrors as well.

wintera · 20/05/2013 13:06

Oh and also, anyone else seeing comparisons between the killer in this and real life serial killer Ted Bundy?

Ted Bundy mostly murdered girls with long dark hair, parted in the middle. He also volunteered at The Samaritans too and was considered very handsome and charming. Just struck me when I was watching it.

AnyFucker · 20/05/2013 13:11

Marks place for later. Hope there are fewer (much fewer) lingering shots of beautiful young women being sexually tortured. Will have to give up if there isn't, I don't class it as "entertainment"

Very good otherwise, though

hollyisalovelyname · 20/05/2013 14:57

I agree Anyfucker. It's a bit too voyeuristic for me.

OP posts:
SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 20/05/2013 21:44

Marking place. But I'm now 45 mins behind due to a bed-reluctant DS who needs his sleep for exams tomorrow. Sigh.

cerealqueen · 20/05/2013 21:53

It is very disturbing.

Surely the wife hasn't just left her husband with him about to give the babysitter a beer??

YoniConnect · 20/05/2013 22:02

Oh, I'm not sure I can carry on with this....it's all getting a bit gruesome.

I agree - too voyeuristic. Do the producers think that they can balance things by having a strong, sexually empowered woman (GA). It seems to be an awful lot of male fantasies made real.

CalamityKate · 20/05/2013 22:31

I think his wife seems a bit odd too.
